The intial seeds might be on T3's or DSC3s or whatever, but most of the peers are not. If the seeds have maxed out thier connections, you then have to get the file from peers. Most peers probably will not have anywhere near the same bandwidith as the initial seeds do. To get the same bandwidth from the peers as you do a seed, you have to connect to multiple peers, while at the same time, many other peers are also connecting to those peers.
If the upload bandwidth of the swarm was equal to the download bandwidth, you would be able to get speeds as fast as a direct file transfer. But thats ussually never the case.

No credit card transaction requires an ATM PIN Number.
Sent a bunch of bogas data and there were no checks on it. So i assume that someone is just collecting numbers. Mailing the form results somewhere.
As far as i can tell. There are two pages. donation-form.php (collects the info) and thankyou.php (A generic thankyou page that sets some info based on query string.

I frequent several diffrent gaming forums. I have noticed that there are always people trying to play games on intel integrated graphics. Since intel just barely supports standards, its not a suprise that many games dont run at all or hardly on those cards.
Hopefully it will encourage intel and other intergraded graphics makers to make decent video chipset or get replaced by demand. On the other hand, intel might make it just good enough for longhorn but not games.
Hardware is only a part of the reason. The real reason is more fundmental. Linux is spending too much time competeing with itself to have time to compete with windows. So windows will continue to rule the desktop market. Linux is and will be for the near future, A programmers operating system for programmers. It succeeds in the server market because the only people working with those servers know whats happening behind the scenes and are willing to put up with text config files and no gui as they should.
There is such thing as too many choices. Especially when your dealing with users who dont know how the magic box works, just that it can check thier email and visit websites. They dont need choices between Gnome and KDE. They dont know or care what the diffrence is. Its a choice that would turn them away.
Gnome and KDE are two projects attempting to meet the same goal. So that begs the question. Why are thier two? The same goes for distributions. How many desktop linux distributions are there? When i go and buy windows i get microsoft windows. I dont need to chose between debian windows, mandrake windows, etc. You get my point. The free software/open source market relies on voleneers to write the software. So why are all those man hours being wasted to create competeing products? Is it that hard to let go of your ego? I have heard a few people complain about software developement complain about reinventing the wheel.
Kernel developement is one project. Some people custimize it for thier own purposes. Sometimes those changes make it back into the main kernel. But my point is, there are not competeing kernel projects. We need to as a community, choose KDE or Gnome. NOT BOTH. We need to develop one desktop distribtion that our development efforts can be focused on. (Server and Embeded distrubtions can be many as the audience is not your average user) We need to let someone or a group of people make the decsions for the direction of the project. If you disagree with the descion voice your opinion, but swollow your pride and dont fork the project as that will only dilute the power of linux.
I hope im taking the common sense position. You can flame if you wish. But linux will never compete with windows, unless it can stop competeing with itself.

So, we have a limited audience, gamers who can generally dedicate themselves to just one game, and you need a chunk of that audience to keep running. How many games can the MMO audience sustain? Not many.
World of Warcraft and Everquest 2 will the big players. They also need at least 100,000 players to stay profitiable. Other games can survive if they plan and develop for smaller audiences. Aiming for a large audence without being able to compete with the big players is just a recipie for disaster.
You dont understand how it works. A company is out to make as much money as it can while playing by the rules. The rules protect IP from infringment; When infringment occurs, its considers lost money. It has nothting to do with the fact that they cd sales are at record highs, its has to do with the fact that they could be higher.
Compared to piracy via P2P, Apple is only mildly successful. They are as well not making any money but using it to boost ipod sales.
Thier logic is a little off too. They think frank was the real name of the member of the group. If they read the article and got the details from it, they should be able to deduce the person to one of a couple.
it looks like they are releaseing several PR releases per month to boost their stock price. Now why exactly the company has gone public before they actually have a product is beyond me.
It sounds like the buiness plan was somthing like: 1. Start a company 2. Generate lots of publicity about a product 3. Go public. 4. Sell all your stock. 5. Watch your company burn from a private resort in the bahamas. And when you wasted most of your money on hookers and cars, repeat.
Considering i had a recent delivery taht was supposed to be deleivred before christmas. It was, but to the wrong address. I dont really mind of delivery companies start using GPS to help verify correct addresses. Well thats until the GPS system says you are at the wrong place when you are not.

The only possible legal avenue is the fact that they are only providing means to access copyrighted material and not the material itself. INAL, but but that could possibly be considered illegal under the DMCA. I know IP is diffrent, but its like providing a key to a car someone else is going to steal. Generally that would make you an accomplice.
I think bittorrent(as well as other P2P) has the power to subvert the coporate hold on media and provide an avenue for indie media to get thier art out in the public space. But its been given a bad name when its used in copyright infringment.
Im not exactly a fan of the MPAA or DMCA but I dont think copyright infringment is the way to change the landscape of art. It sends the wrong message.

Yeah its called a PC, now only if they would make a decent port. The Halo 1 port was pretty bad.
Someone got home from the relatives and was annoyed by the free computer services there were expected to provide.
I didnt have to do much to my parents computer this christmas since i had already installed Firefox and open office to take care of most of thier needs.
To fill out all the paperwork and just get a measly check. A better idea (except for those who upgraded to another OS) would be to cut prices by the settlement amount to californian consumers. But then again, there would be some problems coordinating how much of a discount to take.
