I achieved 85% to 99% availability increase using a cluster of Fault-Tolerant servers because clustering provides you redundancy where the rubber hits the road. In most cases that is at the user interface.
Try to use hardware load balancers so that they can detect if one "side of the cluster"* is down and stop directing traffic to it. Proper configuration of the load balancers and proper monitoring of the individual sides of the cluster are also very important.
* - I prefer to call it a side of a cluster instead of a server because the side of the cluster can be a collection of application, web, and database servers in multi-tier environments.
It's always something fishy when people mention their faith. Usually that is a tactic to distract people and build credibility among the majority without reasonable questioning.
Strange case but the fact remains that the redundancy on this new plane is not something I would trust. If only three out of one million chips fail which is normal in a six sigma environment, the plane can be very unsafe if the chips used for redundancy fail at the same time. Somehow I don't understand how all chips fail if one fails.
And the cost of the chip would probably jump back to 500 from 20 which might make TTTech lose the aerospace business. Apparently they won Airbus and Boeing over with their price not the uniqueness of the product.
Luckily those traveling internationally don't have to worry about the DMCA. Sadly companies like T-Mobil will make unlocking your phone a hassle so that they can rip you off (i.e. it was 1.90$ a minute to use my phone in Romania).
"If they get rid of that...I think it will hurt the slot games decidedly."
It does, I now hate slot machines because they're all with stupid cards. What's the point of even pressing a button? The chances are you'll lose anyways so why not even out the fluctuation and just get charged at a certain rate of dollars/minute depending on the machine. You just put in your credit card and get autmatically debited money while watching the numbers roll on the screen. Kind of like pumping gas.
Most slashdoters need SPF 1000 for being outdoors for 5 minutes anyways.

I wonder how comes no one built a software to look for patterns such as those that could resemble ice in the collection of images. Making the difference between a lot of red and a lot of blue shouldn't be THAT hard.
This reminds me of a story on how Micron got started. J.R. Simplot (Idaho potatoes magnate) who was one of the initial investors in Micron thought that he is investing in building a plant that makes potato chips.
Many times spouses of NOCs don't even know who they really work for. Although presumably hers did, considering who he worked for.
Actually I read that he did know about her job already while they were still dating and not because of whom he worked for but because he has high security clearance.
Point being is that whoever released that information did so to retaliate against her husband who is against the Iraq war. He is the one who brought up the fact that one of the reasons for war is a lie.
The Iraq war is there not because of WMDs or oil but because it keeps a lot of rednecks employed at high rates on the tax money from non-dividends profiting people. Think of the Iraq war as the same type of war that Hitler used to recover Germany out of depression.
"literal copying, which is not the standard for copyright violations, and which can be avoided by deliberate obfuscation"
This sounds like more of a patent issue but just becasue they did something in a certain way, it doesn't mean that they were the only ones who thought about doing it that way.
SCO seems like the old lady of the software industry who is bitter that she didn't manage to have a good working business model around Open Source.
I totally disagree. And here is why other than the moral implications. Restricting free speech is illegal in the USA. Restricting free speech across the US borders is like selling illegal copies of movies in countries with loose copyright laws!
And on top of that if China doesn't want to value its internal currency at international exchange rates, let them do it. Their economy will collapse as it did for the rest of the Soviet satellite countries in the 80s. High exports and hidden internal inflation might seem good economic actions but it doesn't last forever.
You are so right, none of the other attacks happened with Iraq. Now the extremists they have millions of extra supporters from Iraq who are highly motivated to blow things up.
Ever since I stopped using IE because of the adware and spyware I can't completely get rid of, the one feature I miss from the Google toolbar is the in page form spell checker.
"There is value in modifying soldiers of the future with the muscle mass that the Neanderthals enjoyed."
I have to disagree with you. While muscle mass is important, it is not nearly as important as brain power which can be applied to effective use of modern weapons. Very high muscle mass can be easily achieved thorugh medicine if needed (think steroids and all the other drugs which go with them).
Is there nudity because there's no good Manga without nudity.
Hentai would be even cooler. A hentai NASA project could rock the geek world.

And how exactly do you plan to remove the IE browser from a Windows machine?
Lets not forget the floods in a big portion of Europe. They are caused by raising levels of the Danube.

And it will be built by none other than Bat Boy. Seriously, The Inquirer is such an unfortunate name for a serious web site.
It really works. I learned my first English installing, executing, and playing the original Leisure Suit Larry games.
For example I now know to take the cab to the Convenience Store and ask for a condom (the word lubber worked too) before fucking a prostitute.
A spacewalk is not without risk.
OK, There is risk but what is the chance of an accident during the space walk? Has there ever been an accident during a space walk?
It seems like there have been more space walks than shuttle flights.
So if I clone myself in a small womb I can have an identical twin who I can call Mini Me?

No, it won't!
Now please locate Osama for us.

Will it be worth it? I think not!
