  1. Re:Global warming? on Surgeon General Describes Censorship From Bush Administration · · Score: 1

Well, if you look at all the side effects of warming climates: West Nile virus, malaria from mosquitoes, heat stroke, dehydration, hyperthermia, et al, how every major heat wave is followed by reports about elderly shutins dying off in the hundreds, kids dying in cars due to idiot parents locking them in, skin cancer risks (wearing less coverage overall due to heat), added pollution due to skyrocketing energy demands for air conditioning every summer (causing respiratory distress in asthmatics).

And then there's insects such as hornets and yellowjackets which will be active far longer than usual, and people will inevitably die from swarms of those as well, once someone disturbs one of their "supernests".

Since global warming will also have an effect on food production (droughts, livestock deaths), malnutrition can also result when crops dry up.

I'd have to say there's a pretty goddamned GIGANTIC medical angle to global warming.

Taking the oath of office as president, and then repeatedly failing (or even refusing) to defend the constitution of the US, and the bill of rights, is also perjury. But this is just a technicality.

  7. Re:liquify other hydrocarbons? on Giant Microwave Turns Plastic Back to Oil · · Score: 1

Better yet, imagine what this can do for oil refineries. Right now, the chief problem with existing oil refineries, is how they do away with impurities in the refining process, basically by burning them off. Anyone who lives in L.A., for example, enjoys the aroma every time they make the route into Orange County. This is also one of the "reasons" the Bush administration gives us to explain current gas prices, because EPA restrictions prevent any new refineries from being constructed.

If a device like this can break down crude oil into usable forms without the toxic emissions, then new oil refineries could be built. But that all depends on if oil companies want to chop off record high profits at the knees, and how long it takes for this tech to be buried along with the usual 100 MPG carbuerator and water fueled cars.

In my own experience here, I don't qualify for dental insurance, for the most part, I have to face toothlessness since the dental clinics are on a sliding fee scale, and the one cheapest treatment over all is extraction.

Not to mention that, as I said before, a lot of movies, music, television, and software has limitations (eg; censorship) attached to it for the miscellaneous countries that they are released in. Mostly it's all due to social censoring by religious or governmental zealots. So in essense, if you're against piracy, then you're supporting: Religious dictatorships, communist dictatorships, religious intolerance, racial intolerance, overall censorship, destruction of IP for same, facism, and a whole lot worst.

An uncensored DVD rip being downloaded in Saudi Arabia is a slap in the face of Osama Bin Laden and all of his ilk, so essentially, the movie/music/software industry supports Al Qaeda. That's the nuts and bolts of it, with emphasis on the nuts.
