Who ever thought they would use Flash memory with the $/MB when came out, let alone lingering write limit fears? But look now at how it has revolutionized storage on hand held devices.
I also remember when everyone thought that the highest download speed you could get over a telephone wire was the 56kbps modems of yesteryear because that was the limit of copper phone wire.
I think you are getting it a bit wrong as well. When a jury comes back with a decision, a person is found guilty or not guilty. They are never fount innocent.
There are plenty of people who are not innocent (i.e. they did the deed) but are found not guilty becauase their guilt was not proven beyond a reasonable doubt with the evidence before them.
Stop being so lame. Everyone knows what he means my "pirated programs". Let's save the silly semantic arguments for the people that say that his company is STEALING from Microsoft.
I understand that these results are unacceptable, and that there are some inherent problems with computer voting, but can someone explain to me the sheer hate of Diebold that you see on Slashdot every time there is a story about it?
Because with all things legal, it is not that simple.
They may have retained copies of that information in backup copies, or they could be under court order not to destroy information. There is no reason that Facebook should open themselves up to a lawsuit for these reasons alone.
Breathalyzers in active use for prosecutions are actually calibrated and tested all of the time with known samples. If the test is more than %5 off, the machine is taken off duty.
Yes, but the alternative of refusing is to blow. If you blow over.08, the prosecutor has iron-clad evidence of your intoxication. The only reason to ever blow is if you KNOW you will blow under. (i.e. you had less than 3 drinks)
Millions? I doubt that. Here in New York, simple possession of marijuana isn't even a crime (but you can be fined for having it). Even selling it isn't a felony unless you are selling pounds of the stuff.

I was very confused when DSL modems came out.
will be the year of the linux desktop.
More like about 100 gas stations, but most cabs do fill up in garages in Queens and Brooklyn at shift changes.
Then why can't we get it in U.S. cities?
The top 190 U.S. cities have population densities ove 500people per sq km.
I'm sure many of them still are.
There was one small issue that required me to use dpkg
I realize that we are talking about an alpha release, but having to use dpkg even once would be a deal breaker for a lot of would be users.

Copyright infringement (of this sort, which doesn't include making and selling a whole bunch of copies) is generally a civil offense, not a crime.
In fact, in most jurisdictions, you are under no obligation to report ANY crime, even murder.
The problems start to occur when you start to actively cover up the crime.

well done sir. Your nerd license is renewed for 6 months. :)
No one is legally drunk after one drink unless you are drinking something crazy. Even a 100 lbs woman will only be .06 after one drink. See here.
I guess iron clad was a little strong, but you are almost never going to beat a DWI when you blow a .15. Ask any DWI lawyer.
But the point is only blow if you KNOW you will blow under. Otherwise don't, and take the license suspension.

A number of bars in NYC already have Rock Band nights with the drums and the full set-up.
Usually it is done in the middle of the week in a college bar that is otherwise pretty empty.
that only play Carmageddon?
Actually, I would guess that most pieces of 2nd hand electronics contain celebrity porno tapes, just not originals.
yes, but if it only costs $29.99 to buy a hardware DVD player at Wal-Mart, the license for the manufacturers must be a lot less.

How about a good password manager? Splash-Id is one of the main reasons I'm still hanging onto my Treo.
