I don't know what article you were reading, but the one linked in the summary says he was teaching programming to librarians. I can't fathom why he was trying to do that though. I know some librarians, and writing software isn't something they get paid to do.
Are you sure about that? I know reliable numbers would be hard to get, but I suspect that swords and arrows still hold a bit of a lead. The did have several thousand years head start after all.
Sorry, there is (naturally) nothing in the article or the court ruling about adding an extra fine for low quality. Would have been nice, though. =:)
Except for this: "In the case of Beck film calculated the damages including the cost of licensing the movie, on the division struck against the sale and to the shared film quality deteriorated film's reputation."
Its odd how online activism is treated much differently than that which occurs in meatspace. Many protests occur in real life where access to buildings or simply roads are blocked yet the treatment of the two types protestors is very different.
So you're suggesting that online activists should be tear-gassed, clubbed, and maybe a few of them shot? That doesn't seem very practical.
Actually, you can make the correlation/causation argument, and the authors did so: "Further research is needed to determine what exactly about the museum-going experience determines the strength of the outcomes. How important is the structure of the tour? The size of the group? The type of art presented? " But in this case the correlation is important on its own. Something about these visits was beneficial to the children, and having visited this museum I suspect that both the art and the way it's presented are factors.
and 2014, 2015, 2016..... Just block Flash in your browser and you won't have to worry about it. There's nothing on a Flash site that would interest you anyway.
The British government has helped paedophiles escape detection by telling them that the Guardian articles can help them escape detection. The whole government should be rounded up and imprisoned for abetting paedophilia.
Well, I am a geologist, and I don't like tomatoes. It's not the taste that I don't like; tomato paste, tomato sauce, ketchup, those are all perfectly tasty. It's the texture. I just can't stand the way tomatoes feel in my mouth.
Why would you work in IT if you have a STEM degree? Admittedly I do that, and I have one, but I'm just weird and like messing with computers- that, and I could never get anyone to hire me in my STEM field. Sure, computers are built with science, technology, engineering, and math, but once they leave the factory they're appliances.
As we get older we start realizing that we have less opportunities left to succeed and less time to suffer the consequences of failure. We also come to realize that losing isn't as painful as we always thought it would be, and in the worst case we could end up dead - in which case we won't care. It just makes sense to take more risks. Falling for scams comes from a host of other age-related factors that include both physiological changes and changes in attitude.

For inventing the most used murdering tool?!?

"We just did that stuff because it seemed like such a good idea. The $10 mil was just a ... um ... a research grant - or something."
No, no, and just in case you're having trouble keepin up, NO!

Spray painting a wall costs people time and money, and you know what, we don't drop fines that ruin peoples' lives over it.
Good point. It's about time we changed that. The current penalties certainly haven't proved to be a deterrent.
"expert sex change"!? I don't think that's the kind of equipment the OP was referring to
Isn't that the sister site to penisland?

They found a compartment with wires running into it. You mean like the empty CD Changer compartment in my wife's old Mazda?
No trips to Ohio for me.
Oh bloody hell! They just fried my Awesomeness Gauge (tm)!
A flash website in 2013?
and 2014, 2015, 2016. ....
Just block Flash in your browser and you won't have to worry about it. There's nothing on a Flash site that would interest you anyway.
There's no video showing up, only blank space. This is 2013 guys, Flash died years ago.
This is 2013. YouTube (Flash videos) comprises almost 20% of all Internet traffic. Not very dead.

Oh, I thought it was going to be Megan Mullally. That would be awesome.
Sean Hayes could be head of marketing.
"Political definition"
I think you may have just created the ultimate oxymoron.
Now, I am no geologist but...

Wake me when they announce 640K.
That should be enough for anybody.
Well, duh. Canadians don't have fingerprints. Or souls. Everybody knows that.

I'm not saying the CIA was behind this,
but the CIA was behind this.

So what they're saying is, "No war - No fun."
Isn't that the way it's always worked?
Where once were daemon and angles...
Exactly what sort of angles are we talking about here, accute, obtuse, right?
Quantum foam? They can eat all they want. I tried that stuff once, it was awful.
