    I don't know what article you were reading, but the one linked in the summary says he was teaching programming to librarians. I can't fathom why he was trying to do that though. I know some librarians, and writing software isn't something they get paid to do.

    Are you sure about that? I know reliable numbers would be hard to get, but I suspect that swords and arrows still hold a bit of a lead. The did have several thousand years head start after all.

    Its odd how online activism is treated much differently than that which occurs in meatspace. Many protests occur in real life where access to buildings or simply roads are blocked yet the treatment of the two types protestors is very different.

    So you're suggesting that online activists should be tear-gassed, clubbed, and maybe a few of them shot? That doesn't seem very practical.

    Spray painting a wall costs people time and money, and you know what, we don't drop fines that ruin peoples' lives over it.

    Good point. It's about time we changed that. The current penalties certainly haven't proved to be a deterrent.

    Actually, you can make the correlation/causation argument, and the authors did so: "Further research is needed to determine what exactly about the museum-going experience determines the strength of the outcomes. How important is the structure of the tour? The size of the group? The type of art presented? "
    But in this case the correlation is important on its own. Something about these visits was beneficial to the children, and having visited this museum I suspect that both the art and the way it's presented are factors.

    Now, I am no geologist but...

    Well, I am a geologist, and I don't like tomatoes. It's not the taste that I don't like; tomato paste, tomato sauce, ketchup, those are all perfectly tasty. It's the texture. I just can't stand the way tomatoes feel in my mouth.

    Why would you work in IT if you have a STEM degree?
    Admittedly I do that, and I have one, but I'm just weird and like messing with computers- that, and I could never get anyone to hire me in my STEM field.
    Sure, computers are built with science, technology, engineering, and math, but once they leave the factory they're appliances.
