    This simply means that RSA encryption can be potentially broken, irrespective to the length of the key. But we are still safe - so far nobody built a working quantum computer that would carry on simple calculations like factorizing the number 15.

    How do you know this for certain? If the NSA's scientists have cracked this you can be damn sure that they're not going to tell anyone about it.

    I haven't checked, but I seem to remember that the GPL forbids linkage to non-free code, but the LGPL allows this.

    How would you create a binary patch that could link into code generated by different compilers, or with different compiler options?

    So I'm "Mr Right" - sensitive, caring, well-paid, mature, but also a pagan biker with long hair, wears leathers and owns two motorbikes (not mid-life crisis, been biking for years). I'm the one who wants to go to the sleazy goth clubs!

    That's really good advice, but best of all IT WORKS. I'm a geek who couldn't get laid at college, but am now in my 30's and have had lasting relationships with some very good looking and intelligent women. I'm currently in a steady relationship with a very cute girl who's 13 years younger than me and has a degree in design.

    Sometimes not having a girlfriend can be despairing, but work on yourself and someone great might come into your life.

    I really hope that you mean "waving". "Waiving" has an entirely different meaning in this context.

    If IBM try to turn against the free/open source community then this court filing would turn into a weapon against them. IBM are saying to the judge, "we're 100% behind Linux and the GPL". It would be very hard for them to now turn against the free/open source movement.

    RTFA. IBM make it very clear indeed that they believe that SCO are violating the GPL and are terminating SCO's rights to distribute GPL'd code developed by IBM.

Heathen Chemistry is the title of an Oasis album which, to the best of my knowledge, is not Alan's taste in music.     A car designed by women sounds about as practical as a motorbike designed by italians.

    It takes an hour to get to the spark plugs of my Ducati. The battery terminals are virtually inaccessible too, which for a bike with dodgy italian electrics is a real pain.

    So what happens when the owner of this car leaves their lights on, drains the battery and the car has to be booked into a volvo dealer (the only people who can open the hood) to have the battery recharged?

    It's not a big deal, if it turns out he wasted his money, then so be it. it was more of a way to protect his business, if something happens and the tables turn, he's not going to have his restaurant burned down and have to pay that, in other words, the cost of an arson attack would be way more than having to pay the protection money. it was just simply more cost affective to pay off the mob and if they get arrested, so what, the customers who had doubts had peace of mind at this point.
