Isn't this a little like your Electric Company asking reminding you to not make toast while taking a bath?
It ain't their job...its just common sense.

The "Techie" Vote?
·
· Score: 1
This leads to a vote that I would like to see on Slashdot in the near future: one about who we are going to vote for in the next US presidential elections (also have an option: "I'm not a US Citizen you insensitve Clod").
A previous comment mentioned that our views are too disperse to be anything of a "movement". I would tend to disagree with that and say that I think we do have quite a lot in common. Discussion is key.
Helped clear up a lot of misunderstanding in my book.
As a side note, I was looking into incorporating my business, and found that the IRS requires a Double-Entry system to maintain records. Sorry, I can't be more precise, that was more of a "Huh" fact that I can across.
True, but there are certain things that we are entitled to do in our homes with a "reasonable" expectation of privacy. (noticable a certain Texas law that was struck down by the Supreme Court a few weeks ago).
The above example, while not directly related to the "fileswapping" argument, is pertitinent in that if you are doing something illegal, the "Justice" system has a process to follow to prove that you are breaking the law. They do so, so that your rights are protected and to make sure that they are not mistaken. It doesn't always work but it is significantly better than the RIAA breaking down the door and serving you a subpoena without due cause. What if you were swapping your own music? Have they discriminated the difference?
I don't know...It's a matter what you prefer. There are plenty of good shows on TV IMHO, just gotta flip around. Think: Law&Order, Family Guy, Simpsons, The West Wing, X-files (up to a point).
There are also some decent new comedies appearing this fall. I agree, there is a lot of "crap", but eventually those types of shows will lose interest and it will fade to black (hehe...Metallica(C)(R)corp(inc)(Republic))
Hehe...If you want reliable news, stay with Slashdot!
but, why not one of those padded CD-PLAYER carrying cases? They're pretty well padded and if secured properly they should offer some good support. Another suggestion could be packaging popcorn (foam stuff) filled up in a small insulated cooler (lunch box type). Drill holes for cables in the side and seal it. It might lessen the temperature extreme while protecting it against bumps and bruises.
"Sources who have gotten an early look at Apple
Computer Inc.'s Mac OS X Public Beta tell ZDNet
News..."
and were promptly served a supoena by Apple naming "john doe" in a lawsuit.
Apple should seriously just have a ticket number system like a deli counter..."Now suing number 1,341,111".
