A GPU is no longer a Graphics Processing Unit, it's a general purpose DSP usable for tasks that have simple logic that must done in a massively parallel fashion. No, I'm actually not talking about mining bitcoins or specialty stuff, I'm talking about things like physics engines. On the other hand, they are still WAY behind the curve measured by the "My screen isn't 4xAA RAYTRACED yet" crowd.
Go play Kerbal Space Program. It's fun and (sshh don't tell anyone:) educational. You will learn about escape velocity, Isp, Periapsis, Apoapsis, Orbital intercepts, aerobraking, etc. Oh and don't kill too many Kerbals while you're at it:)
Liability. It is the problem that will kill any idea that moves liability from the driver to anything else. A fully automated machine? It's the company that makes the machine. In the train scenario, it's the lead driver.
I'd prefer that the vehicles automatically follow, and closely, however I want better roads. We need to add track-like features to our roads for two reasons: 1: Gives automated vehicles a chance and being able to stay in the lane. 2: Gives better stopping performance. A regular asphalt/concrete road greatly limits how fast a car can stop. We need some kind of a track that will allow us to lower our stopping distance. So many accidents would be avoidable with a decent way to stop quickly (3g-4g deceleration. Previously I'd thought that sucker cars might be the way to go, however those tend to throw rocks around and would have difficulties with our pothole filled roads.
Not a huge fine, just make it # cents per minute, like a 900 number. Any phone call not on the white list has to pay to contact me. If they want to waste my time, they pay for it.
Blizzard has deleted at least 30 of my D2 accounts. 3 times, I've built up 10 accounts, then lost interest and had them deleted. Now I whenever I get the itch to play D2 I play a mod instead, like Kingdom of Tenaii.
Testing and balancing maps takes time. I created a few Tower defense maps, and my best one (Traps & Towers TD) took something like 9 months to get it working well.
There's no way they'd get DotA balanced in two weeks.
Please make sure any games you develop on Vista work just as well under XP, because I'm not buying it if it doesn't. I'm not upgrading to an operating system that has no significant benefits, a lot of negatives and enables a continuing monopoly. At this point I'm much more likely to try to get some weird game running under Linux than XP. There's no way in heck I'm installing Vista, even as a dual-boot, but I'd be very happy to give some new flavor of the week of Linux a try.
Which means FINALLY we will get people educated on encryption. See the problem is that people are too lazy to do it. The slashdot crowds position has been that encryption should be used. What do we see but all kinds of excuses from them about how hard it will be or how much money it will cost.
I'm glad this law was passed. Maybe now we will have easy to use encryption programs. The problem we've had is that the software was available, but was mostly used by enthusiasts. Now that all the communications need to be encrypted we should finally start seeing stuff like the lock icon on email icons, an "encryption bit" in the IP header and people maintaining a digital signature.
I worked on a dispatching style radio for a customer that had several such products. One of those was New York taxicab drivers. He told me the way a cab is dispatched is by the blat-blat system. Basically the dispatcher calls out the location of a pickup, then all the taxicab drivers key down on their radios, which sends their identifier back to the dispatcher. The first guy in is notified that he is to pick up the customer.
they feel free to perform actions which, if done in the real world, would merit anywhere from a punch in the nose to lengthy jailtime.
That's really the problem isn't it. Toons cannot be punished by other players. Without death or jail, there is no impetus to create any form of government. Without a method for one player to punish another, there can't be any heroes, only villains.
I once proposed adding a jail and everybody said "we play this because we want to get away from real life." I guess if we somehow got resurrection in real life our world would turn into a huge grief-fest?
They were all whining about how that because we don't have instant runoff voting (or similar improved system) that they will be forced again this year to vote for the lesser of two evils.
Label it "Porn", seed it in BT, Limewire, etc, and print out the hash you need to search for on good paper stock. In 25 years when FreeNet has finally caught on, fire it up and download your pictures by the hash.
I played that one all the way through too. It seemed to me that the portals worked a little differently than in 3d portal.
What was confusing to me in the 3d portal was how your orientation on exiting the portal would change based on the orientation you shot the portal from.
The explanation is that it works by Swimming through Spacetime.

Is it possible to refuse to accept any bitcoins that were seized? If so then management becomes like the spam blocking lists.

Would a coating like this help lower the weight of water clinging to the inside of an insulated steam balloon?

We don't have anything to hide except our privacy. So yes, basically everything.
I wouldn't mind giving my ID only to my friends, however that's not one of the options I have. Only options I have are: Give out ID/Not give out ID.

I don't get it, does that make you a nerd or a geek?
If it's all anonymous, how am I supposed to send my grateful paypal tips to you to keep it updated?

The above, and the fact that they were one of the early abusers of the DMCA hammer makes me prefer other game makers to them (see also http://www.eff.org/wp/unintended-consequences-seven-years-under-dmca ). Those are some of the reasons I play Anarchy Online instead of WoW.
It's more like s/left/government.

Some of the really old b&w programs had 10x the science I've seen on TV today.
I think he was talking about making dihydrogen monoxide which the car would then run on.
Maybe now we can have secure, authenticated email.
It's only laziness and the lack of any security mandates that prevents us from having decent email.

I always wondered why the President had the football near him at all times.
I can't get my own company to do that internally
