you're right I didnt look at what the collectors edition included... and that is some good stuff.
so if you can afford it - and are interested in what they are offering then its good.
I went into software etc to buy a game (cant member which game - I buy lots) but I remeber how much it was - 59.99 - I went upto the counter, and the clerk said "hi how can I help you?" - I replied "Hi, I would like to buy this way overpriced game please." - she laughed and stated that she agreed, and couldnt understand why the game was so expensive. (i think it might have been RTCW (F'ing great game BTW)
I think that *all* games should be $40.00 (tax included) I think they would sell a lot more games - making them accessable even to the kid who has to save up his allowance.
aside: I was in fry's and saw that MS flight something or other was $70.00 !!! I couldnt believe it. 70 for any game is WAY to much - esp. when its the standard, and not the collectors. prices like that should come with a bj - or at least a blow up doll.
WTF. that is the most expensive game I have heard of. I bought the collectors of U9 (mistake btw - dont buy that game)...
wtf is blizzard smoking? I thin I know why this game is so expensive:
Blizzard takes *forever* to release a new game. so by selling it for such a high price, they think that all the people that buy the thing are going to fund the next 5 year dev cycle for their next game: War III expansion pack!
I dont know about you... but I dont have much respect for journalists - nor berkeley...
I find that journalists have about as much integrity as lawyers and politicians. I guess thats why those groups run the world... little cunning bastards that do anything for a buck.
I totally agree... hollywood and the stars suck ass.
No im not jelous. they really are a bunch of self patting on the back types. i would love to have as much money - but not for doing the same thing.
I think its really sad that most people think that an actor is really intelligent based on the roles they play. Clue: everything they say in the movies - written by someone else!
I never watch MTV - I have a life... thats why i read/. all day!!:P
So you see we are poised to be the leader in nano fruit creation. Leveraging our high tech nano-enabled orchards or our "green tech" as we like to call it - we can have the highest quality output available in the US today. We focus on our core-competancies and get our arms around the solutions of the future in nano fruit production. By getting mind-share through advertiusing with strategic partnerships we will soon be the standard in quality fruit. Our b2b network supports a global fruit production infrastructure which can produce product on a scale that will put our competitors far behind.
Our seed funding was provided by the US goverment through a seed bill - the "US anti-terrorist new business development fund" which provides funds to new companies who develop products that can aid in any form with the fighting of terrorist in this post 9-11 economy. Our nano fruit growing technology is used in our "Fruit for the Troops" program to feed troops and refugees displaced by the terrorists in the US and abroad.
We are looking to raise 15 million in capital by Q2.
speaking of this... has anyone noticed that networks plan their commercial breaks at the same time as eachother to try to prevent people from flipping between shows. So if show A goes to commercial - show B does at the same time. I HATE THAT.
But then again I also HATE hollywood and have contempt for it and all stars for their eliteism anyways.
but are you so displeased with DVD that that really matters? I mean c'mon... you enjoy the shit out of movies that are out now... no reason why you MUST have HDTV tapes!
Thats how I got started on computers... its also how got started on games. I found Ultima II on a floppy somewhere - and within a month had a daily lunchtime "lab" going so thatt we could all play it. That started me on the RPG format (had preivouly been playing paper D&D...
then we moved into all of the bards tales - and I later setup the first CAD network (using lantastic (sucks ass), an everex step server, and genericad) We also ran our first BBS from highschool. Heaven - and if you knew the right people you could access the backside - Hell... which was a pirate BBS which got much of its content from boards around here (greater silicon valley)
I have no objections to using swiss bank accounts... nor do I wish privacy to be diminished. and no where did I hint at the fact that I think that everything must be reported to a big brother agency....
i just didnt see the practicality of the mentioned reccomendation for the use we were talking about..
Riight. I am going to go to all the trouble of setting up a swiss bank account just so I can spend one or none dollars to watch illegal movies from Iran. I can think of all but nobody that would do that.
Actually he re-installed from an old proprietary universe to the new open source model. he liked it so much he installed a beowolf cluster of them and when he powered it up BANG!! it all started to run. He then installed Reality 1.0 and time-space-stable 1.2
front 242 is still my favorite all time band (and skinny puppy) but i still listen to industrial cds from the late 80's early 90's over and over. the music is so well put together it never gets old.
actually my best friend owns a record label [lotek] and we sample some ofthe sounds out of old industrial for hardNRG uk hard house - from bands like coil, 242, skinny puppy etc...
at one point skinny puppy was the band that held the record for the most samples in their music - then 242 took the lead. love these guys...
those are good points - but I would not be so quick to award all of the credit to lucas himself... there are many people involved in creating a movie - or special effect technologies that are as of yet un heard of... a good friend of my fathers is one of the original lucas employees and worked on creating methods for special effects... these people behind the scenes are the unsung geniuses behind what we see in movies today.
its sad that hollywood just lumps a movie under the director... hollywood is so proud of itself, its a sick and disturbing industry which really teaches some fucked up values to society... it should not be held in such high regard.
I would say that when lucas asked for the merchandizing rights that that was business genius, a spark of it anyway... but that does not translate directly into directorial genius.
The problem I see with your statements that he is a genius due to the fact that he has had a major impact on the industry (which he has) - is that "he" as a sole single person can not - and should not - receive all the credit for what movies look like today. He has worked with some real genius minds in the industry - who behind the scenes form what we see in movies from imagination, but more and more I only see lucas as a tired old man struggling to maintain his power and image - yet he no longer has the nimble and creative imagination that may have been there way back when this all started....
Im not saying that there have not been glimpses and moments of genius from him - there have been... however, I do not like him - as stated... but I do respect what he [the group of people that are "lucas arts"] has accomplished.
The only thing I purge very rapidly are fluids... but that usually only after too many JD-n-coke's at the bar.
