That billboard is about an hour south of my house, but don't think I will be taking a drive to see. Considering that I drive past a county dump twice a day when commuting, (I85 @ Archdale), I would think this is a step up, at least.
More importantly, why doesn't this thing have the smell of PORK? Anyone familiar with North Carolina would know this. It's only 90 miles from Lexington, NC, the self proclaimed BBQ capital of the world.
That is a better explanation, but 5-6 is pretty shocking difference. My recently sold 1999 Caddy DeVille got 27 on the highway with 93, and 25-26 with 87. Very little difference. Driving over 100 miles a day makes it pretty easy to get a good read on mileage after a week.
Commodore Vic to start, but by the late 80s, I had a multi-bbs;) I tell people my first internet account was an actual dial up unix shell, and they have no idea wtf I am talking about.
/me smells bullshit. Now how do you get such great mileage using higher octane? High octane gas does NOT have more energy than low octane. 87 and 93 octane fuels have the exact same energy content. (technically, some higher octane fuels have LESS btu potential if they use ethanol to raise the octane.) High octane simply resists detonation better. This means that higher compression engines use it to prevent pre-detonation, and the higher the compression, the most the fuel wants to spontaneously ignite. Higher octane fuel burns slower, not more powerfully. This is a feature.
Pure ethanol has a MUCH higher octane rating, yet will deliver 40% LOWER miles per gallon when used as a fuel, as it contains less energy than generic 87 octane gas.
I still have to uninstall it from mid-ageder's computers who will ask "Yea limewire, you can download music! Ever hear of it?". Keep in mind that I am 45 and bought my first computer in 1980. So many wannabe nerds think they are l337 because they "know" how to use limewire, yet have no clue as to why all those pop ups are happening on their computer.
"Can't be from Limewire, they are a legitimate company, right?" [/me smacks forehead]
To put the first two points into concrete terms: Even scrupulous non-pirates will sometimes try a game, by renting it or borrowing it from a friend, and then decide not to buy it.
This is why we need to outlaw sharing, borrowing, and cooperation of any kind. Only then will we all be able to get along.
How fucking stupid are you? You can't blame every thing on Bush and Republicans. I don't even like Bush (or the current Republicans) but only a fuck-wit would think that all of life's problems are caused by one political party. Are all the tornadoes and floods the fault of GW Bush as well?
I from Texas. While they are more common than in any other state, it is because Texas is so damn big, and not many have hit downtown over the last 100 years. More people are affected by flooding than by tornadoes in Texas.
Whose bright idea was it to put the UPS and backup systems in the portion of the building that is first to be flooded, and the most devastated in just about any natural disaster, AND the least accessible afterward? Sounds like something a government would do....
I think the point is this: can you name ONE communist country that ISN'T oppressive? No? Ok. Is the country we are discussing a communist country. Yes? Ok.
So to assume that a communist country is oppressive isn't exactly assuming. It doesn't say that all non-communist countries are perfect. You can quit defending communism now. Of all the possible evils, the vast majority here will agree that it tops the list.
Crack a book some time. The fact that communist countries have the worst track record in oppressing religion and free expression isn't new, or even controversial. As fucked up as the laws are in the USA and Europe, they don't even compare to the restrictions that the former USSR, China, Vietnam, North Korea and Cuba have instituted over the years.
Go ahead, pick any communist country, and show us how they are less oppressive than the US, Australia or any EU country. I won't hold my breath.
he safest I've ever felt on a plane was when I was on a flight in Canada when on a business trip from Toronto to Calgary. Two of their army guys were on the plane with souvenir baseball bats for the Jays.
I have always said that you give everyone entering the plane a baseball bat and you are guaranteed to be safe, and was serious when I said it. No sharp points to accidentally cut someone, no possible way to breach the skin of the craft like a bullet, and no way that someone can take over the plan. The rest of the passengers would make it looks like a bad Monty Python sketch and bludgeon the offender into the ground. And I am still serious.
DDOS isn't solely a function of using all the bandwidth. You can keep a server so busy that it starts thrashing, while using less bandwidth than a T1. It is about keeping their server so busy it can't process legitimate requests using one or more of many methods. Hogging the bandwidth *is* one way, but a very ineffective way to do it.
That's ridiculous. First, every nerd knows they don't have a host named www here, it always redirects. Besides, this script is more effective:
#!/bin/bash while true do wget -m -p slashdot.org & done
Second, the easier way is just to submit a popular story that has a link back to slashdot, thus everyone reading will click on the link, and wallah! They/. themselves and self destruct.
I hate spelling nazis, but since you are suggesting a search, the correct spelling is Ascher H. Shapiro. I only found this out as I was trying to take your advice and search for him.
I would disagree and say that *on average* it has made people smarter. Instead of having to go to the public library, it is faster to find information, do research and get answers. More importantly, it allows people to get multiple answers quickly to compare.
As to those that it is making dumber: If not for the internet, they would have been watching TV anyway. Some people can't wait to graduate high school, because then they can "quit learning", and they succeed in every way. Before TV, there were plenty of other opportunities to "do nothing", or at least, nothing worthwhile. Those people wouldn't learn new things even if they lived inside the Library of Congress.
As for regular people, or those with a thirst for knowledge, it has accelerated their ability to find answers and make it more entertaining and less of a drudgery (ie: faster to search in a browser than a card catalog, AND find the books, AND the right page...) I can't tell you how many times that I have looked something up, then found an interesting link, and ended up learning about some tangent idea as well. Yes, I did the same pre-internet, but net has allowed me to do this regularly, as in depth as I care for, and from many sources. At 45, I watch much less TV than 20 years ago, and spend a great deal of time learning, simply because it is fun and easy to do. I can't be alone in this.
You would think that the parents could tell if one sibling had a different diet than the other.
Most people with two+ kids have kids with different diets. Most parents just give up and let the kids eat what they want, within reason. One kid has a bologna sandwich, the other, peanut butter. For dinner, one eats green beans and macaroni and cheese, the other eats fried chicken and green beans with a biscuit. Or maybe one eats another peanut butter sandwich. It isn't like the old days, when my mom (of 7 kids...) put the food on the table and you ate or went hungry.
In the old "nuclear family" model (pre 1980), families were slightly more likely to eat meals together. Half the parents I know never cook a meal, except in advance, and have containers ready for the microwave. Jobs, soccer, dance class, etc. has made it pretty hard to get everyone in the same house at the same time, except at night to sleep. What is *odd* nowadays is a family that all sits at the same table on a very regular basis.
It would seem to me that in a game like this, people who work 8 hours a day would have an advantage over people who don't, ie: money to spend to buy better weapons. Maybe in the end, it will balance out, who knows.
If I have a club and can't afford to buy a regular longsword.. and you would be rich enough.., you could beat me just because you'd be "rich"
Then again, in an old fashioned game, you might get pwned because the other person has more skilz, but you still play even though you aren't the best player on the block. This is just another metric. Keep in mind that people that rely on spending money to buy bigger guns are generally NOT going to be the best players. There are exceptions, yes, but just like with cheaters, they will be below average players on average.
I get your concerns, but how fucked up it is depends on what you can buy and what you must find instead. Time will tell, and best of all, if you don't like the game, it cost you exactly zero. If the system is *THAT* fucked up, then only 'rich' people will be playing anyway. Personally, I'm glad to see someone trying something new in games, besides more and more restrictive DRM, that is.
GPL requires you to include the copyright notices, thus give attribution. Check section: 4. Conveying Verbatim Copies. Same if you modify the code, you need to provide your copyright info. The GPL isn't a license that says "do what you want, but provide source", particularly v3. And the BSD license (modern) is fully compatible with the GPL, according to the FSF, who would be considered the authority here.
Did you even read the article?

I would flip over to Syphy channel and watch this movie.
Not me, I would just download the torrent....
Instead of playing WoW, are they just living it now?
But on a good monitor, WoW has got better resolution than the real world!
(appologies to Philip J. Fry)

I don't need a stack of full color Viagr@ spam in my printer tray
1. Buy Georgia Pacific Paper, Inc. stock
2. Create printer with email address
3. ?????
4. Profit!
