XP might be faster starting up, but I don't feel in control of it. Specially when a program/browser hangs for some reason, I could always ctrl-alt-del and kill the program. Under XP it doesn't respond until it wants to. I think XP is great for the average user, but sluggish for the poweruser
Thank god there is a database you can use and create websites/intranets without having to be a DBA. And as much as I love (and use) Oracle, it is not for those who need to make a small site with 10 Megabyes of data.
Nope, The newspapers does NOT give all the content away for free on their sites. If you think so then you haven't opened a paper in a long time. Mostly it is just a small percentage of whats in the paper that makes it to the websites. That and some Reuters feeds, which makes many papers look alike by judging their website.
I find that the range of my wireless key has limited range, depending on where I am located. In some places the "find your car function" where it makes a short beep and flashes the light works from far away. At other times, I have to stand right next to the car to get a response or unlock it.
Of course there is some interference that causes this, but since I don't know what band it is on or which devices could cause it.
People return logs from their routers, there are clients for most system where you send back the list of denied packets. And they do record when the attacks took place. Example.. But the main focus for the single user is that it sends back daily reports of denied activity against your routers, such as port scanners. They do have a block list, which is rather short and only contains the worst current offenders over the last 3 days. They are not anal about it like SPEWS.
Although not quite what you wanted dshield has a page where you can see if your machine has been reported as scanning others. They also has a banner you can add to your site that shows a warning if the viewers ip is in the list. But if fear that people will ignore that and mistake if for the "Warning, your machine is broadcasting an IP..." ad. that used to run. also check out mynetwatchman
I know the selling point and the comparison these days seems to be megapixel as the measuring point for the quailty of the camera, much like the MHz race with CPU's. And I guess it is easy to understand, explain and a line up in a table fact sheet when comparing cameras. But it says little about the true quality of the image and none about the optics. So what if it has 99 megapixels when the colors aren't right. How many in the mass market needs a ultra high pixel count, they are not making posters.
Yes, I get those too, Mozilla marks them rightly so as spam, and I forward them to Spamcop. Isn't it funny how only spam mails are the ones that feel that they must mention CAN-SPAM:D
If the Playstation only has 2MB RAM, where does it place graphics? Are there a seperate area for graphics? Also, how on earth can it have so long loading times if there only is 2mb to fill up.:)
But as they say in France: "Jeg syntes ikke det gor noget hvis man lugter lidt af tis".
Which could be translated to something like, that even when it looks great, do you really need it or does it offer you any thing you need in the long run.
But I guess that is a bit besides the point here on/. and I for one would love to play with it, even if I can't find any useful purpose for it.:)
I was writing a English paper in Geos just after starting at a new school. And my english teacher asked me if the computer could help me write it because it was really good.:D. damn, it didn't even have spallcheacking.
on a side note: my grades then went from really low to the top because the english teacher in my old school didn't like that I used American expressions and word instead of English/England. And so she kept on smoking what she insisted was called fag's in daily speech.
. Clearly, the last-mile stretch or the server at the end of the line will fail long before any long-haul lines will overload. yeah, or show any spikes
So, what do you do when you want to stream audio or video from Linux? These days the website owners expect that when they have streaming content on their site, the viewers can see it without installing any programs. As far as I know, the only way you can get this, is by installing a windows server. (can anyone direct me to a solution to this?). Also, mplayer might play wma streams for a little while longer, but I got a nasty feeling that all the DRM crap enables Microsoft to outlaw any Linux option.

User: I can't find my mail
Support : Press the Lindash start button.
User: Ok, a lindash opened with a lot of icons.
Support : Ok, now click the mail icon and you will see a lindash asking you for your password.
User: Yes, see that lindash.
Support: Good, now type in your password and a lindash with the mail program should open. Do you see the lindash?

I just remember now that I could play the music from the games in my CD player.

He did, but then he needed money. I believe he took a loan in them, sold some parts/shares of them or something.
I think it was a bottle of red wine.

It's good to see that playing with Photoshop filters, still accounts for a effort worth mentioning.
