After the US goes the way of Rome, and China runs out of natural resources, we'd still have the space program. Human race progress > your short insignificant life time span, if an asteroid falls on our heads, and 100 years later we own a second planet because of the advances such a tragedy spurred, our lives might be worth it, don't you think?
Or better yet, the asteroid doesn't fall, the program succeeds and we gain resources and knowledge, as well as industry.
There's a flip side you conveniently forgot. Taxes in Europe, are insane, business taxes? insaner. The credit rating doesn't matter because there is no substance behind it, rate the USA whatever you want, nobody can win a war against the USA basically meaning we'll pay you when we feel like it. We import lots of stuff from China, but the point is we don't have to, Europeans, HAVE TO because there are no natural resources, just houses in Europe.
There are huge pro cons to both places of residence such as the EU, and free travel across countries in Europe. But then again everything is more expensive, and there is less of everything.
On that note, I want to visit Europe and then make a decision on what's better:)
You definitely missed / forgot about Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion , i'd say i enjoyed it 90% of how much I enjoyed morrowind, which is easily one of my favorite games.
How would you feel if a slashdot mod emailed you saying they now have a web story called demon hunter, and you could no longer use demonbug as a result?
And it just so happens you posted several thousand times on that account and its what everybody knows you by, you don't see that as damaging?
Most logos/brandings/names are worth more than what your well-above average equity, so saying its not a big deal is:(
It is, and there's a lot of money involved in that name whether you can see it or not.
Congrats on figuring out my one-liner, I forget this is slashdot, where nothing is read below the surface text.
You think the feds are network certified? The story is certainly real, also I'm sure he would have seen it before if it wasn't new.
Doesn't take away from the 1337 stupidity of the fed for their naming convention / not hiding ssd / having a wireless network in van ??? rofl u going to move your laptop from the back seat to the front and don't want to carry the wire? rofl
I don't think IE9 is capable of reproducing anything except the Tor button listed above, and in terms of security these add-ons make a world of difference.
Here's the downside, mom & pop have no idea what I'm talking about here, and most require technical knowledge. So in customization vs. practically, the latter tends to win, so I guess I can only agree with the article 50%, and blame the other 50 on ignorance.
They also can't say you used your driver's license to purchase alcohol at 10 PM on Saturday night, or whether you purchase it every Saturday night or just 3/4 for the month. Trusting the government with anything > less privacy because the government wants to know who it's helping. Thus why when filling out government forms, you may have indicate your penis/boob size to allow the government to help you more accurately -- soon.
I think Verisign has a bit of a monopoly going on right now, I'd be interesting in seeing google, MS, and anti-virus vendors contribute, except in an open standard that would allow them to cross verify.
if Twitter was to be banned for being used to "plot" crime, why wasn't it getting previously getting credited with "not plotting" crime? If I go on twitter and make a tweet that doesn't involve me "plotting" crime, what does twitter get? Checks and balances anyone?
Righthaven isn't a real company, so it doesn't have things like corporate image to worry about, the people it's representing may. Ultimately bringing this thing to the media and exposing those responsible should take care of itself. Get out the tar and feathers? These people are committing a crime against society, not our f'ed up laws..
I think there's a bigger picture here and that's changing perceptions with age.
You don't see the world the same at 20 as you do at 50, we are constantly evolving socially (if only to catch up to our perception of others). At 50 sdguero may not be making the same post and at 20 quintin might not have made his.
My point being 50 year olds will always look down at 20 year olds and 20 year olds will always look down on 50 year olds.
This is however isolated to Western society, both posts would easily be considered trolling on say a Chinese forum based on those generational standards.
I can only give one piece of advise here: Don't take things personally, people have reasons for doing what they do and 99% of the time the insult from a missed social appointment is not personally directed at you, focus in on patterns rather than single incidents, maybe somebody had a damn good reason for falsely picking up their cell phone and not talking to you, such as a personal tragedy, or PMS.
Ask yourself "why did i get stood up?," (gender independent) if you can't come up with an answer, it's exactly that, there's something else at play you don't know about.. that's 99%. 1% is because the other person is so self-centered they are putting themselves on a pedestal, you don't want to know this person (guess what another piece of advise), maybe I do though (the females tend to be kinda hot), that just means you haven't broken through yet though.
Know when to throw in the towel , I believe all human relationships can be achieved with the right chemistry, some are just not worth the emotional and time commitments though.
Might sound like the above applies to women only, but trust me it applies to both sexes with just slightly different wording (I think how I think).
1. There will be legacy users 2. We are upgrading to introduce new features, not a version # 3. There will be yet uncovered security bugs, this is acceptable because other systems such as the f'in router will compensate 4. Unless it is the cloud itself, the upgrade has absolutely nothing to do with the cloud, it's code, not applications (ex. the application that makes the cloud possible). 5.You must have the upgraded framework to use the upgraded apps/pages/code 6.Not every feature may work as expected, thus hotfixes
Common sense 1. Don't save sensitive data client side 2.There will always be haters/lovers of the upgrade path, these should be exchanged for a white paper / tech spec 3. If your browser runs slow on your computer, you need to... a. upgrade b. install anti virus/spyware
I never understood, why would the US just give pakistan money? They have no significance to us economically, and have been known to harbor terrorists that are anti-US, it seems more like fines are in order, say they pay us for killing the terrorists in their county.
And why was the union emailing them in the first place? This is a clear case of slander against the union, I wonder how tech savvy the judge was in the case, were experts brought in? BS cases in the United States are not a myth, that's why we have like 5 layers of appeals and petition courts that people who feel they have been wronged by the system can petition to. In this case, unless it is proven the emails were automated (this is spam and the basis for a ddos attack on an email server) there should be no doubt of the union's innocence, somehow I think they were automated though...
Google is not getting rid of the Android App Inventory, just handing it over the something like sourceforge community. This is by no means a bad thing as there's some great open source educational software available. On that note if your actually trying to use this to make apps, open sourcing it may be the only way to achieve it.
When software models compete against each other, new features are created, if there was no competition in the Linux world, progress would come to a halt. Oh, and... cloud computing will never be used for anything serious. Trying going to bed with a picture of your SSN in the cloud and what that means for your bank account next breach, night OP.

The chicks on my fb don't have google+ yet, nor do the guys, what now? You by yourself don't matter to the collective.
Thus why OP's post is way too premature to care.
If everybody stopped clicking on the spam, opening the attachments, etc... suddenly it wouldn't be profitable and it would stop.
Finished reading? Good job you didn't click on spam while u were reading this, now just do it, now just keep at it... baby steps... no viagra ftw.

Exactly, you either need to be left alone, treaty, get recognized by the UN, or defend yourself.

Then again, this is a totally feasible idea, impractical yes, but legally (10 shades of grey) and materially ($) possible.

just change "Them to "Everybody" if you've ever done that.
You can have all that client side for the spyware app to process for you, and I'll post the disclaimer releasing my website of liability? :P
