GREAT POINT!!!...one of the reasons I still carry a cute little Canon camera with me. Using the Boston bombing as an example, the police, all 500 million of them there would be salivating at the prospect of killing all the "evidence gathering" cameras...and you watch, the "public servants" will immediately try to find some excuse to get their handsets exempted. Remember you heard it here first...;-o
Good for who? Them or us??? One of the keystones of freedom is the right to privacy. Why do you think the State so jealously guards it's privacy? The promise of transparency is a complete fraud and if you don't think DARPA will not send it's precious little authentication scheme straight to DHS, NSA, and all the rest of the TLAs, you are kidding yourself...
Wouldn't work with wires. Line losses would eat up all the power. Perhaps if LEO microwave power relay stations became a reality, useful energy could be moved from one side of the planet to the other. Don't hold your breath...
Most likely, we will go to amorphous distribution systems where each business or household would have some combination of wind, solar, or fuel cell power that is bi-directionally tied to a local distribution level grid. (already in place). When you have an outage, you sponge off your neighbors until you are up again and then either pay back in kind or get a bill for the power. Also for local grid security, there would be a fuel cell at the distribution substation to cover widespread outages.
The bulk transmission system is based on 80 year old technologies. It needs to be retired!!!
God does exist. Our Universe is floating around in a foam, and it's universes all the way down to the beer. Eventually we will end up stuck to God's upper lip and then a giant tongue will sweep us into the abyss. What??? You don't like my model...
What?...and we are supposed to honor this barbaric relic called a constitution. It's more fun to make shit up as you go. The State is full to overflowing with people that get their jollies looking in other people's medicine cabinets and underwear drawers. The Internet is the dream of the Stasi.
I agree. It's the publishers and the retailers that have been raping the readers and the writers forever. I'm self publishing on the internet. Let THEM eat cake...
I reviewed as many comments as I could stand and it seems that a common solution is to "lie through your teeth". Is this really what the conduct of what should be routine business come to? It's no wonder there is no trust in the world anymore. This will be our undoing.
It may actually turn out that AI instead of offing us may be our salvation. Welcome home Gort...
What I want in a smartwatch is to be able to stream video of the cops whenever they are harrassing me or anyone else for that matter. Stream to a secure server in the cloud via my phone if necessary. It would be nice to have a video camers (a useful video camera) sitting on my wrist all the time...
OBTW: If any of you thieving manufacturers decide to steal my idea (like that never happens on the internet), then please send me a dozen of your top of the line units for my trouble.
Gorram perp assaulted my fist with his face. I feared for my life so I had to shoot himi dead. Let's go get some donuts and make up some filler for the probable cause affadavit...
...and if you would be so kind Mr. Anderson, please give us a link to your wall of equations. Sincerely, Mr. Smith

They can if they are GPS equipped. Devices like this are well established as they are used by glider pilots to document their flghts.
