it sucks that the courts would be the only recourse for something like this.
I like thinking that this is the very reason we have courts, as an impartial arbitrator. IMHO modifying something I have on my system without my approval is destruction of property, not simply trespassing. If it's property lent to me by license then it's destruction of the owners property.
It would be a good thing to get this into court and settled. Set some nice precedence by way of awarding damages and the problem goes away, at least, for those companies with visibility. As far as crackers, well, I say put 'em in irons.
Of course it's a lawyer, don't you know anything by now?;-)
Yeah, I know, that's practically flamebait, but it so reminds me of Jon Lovitz portrayal of unethical lawyers. Yet, Laurence Canter and Martha Siegel have made a Sisyphus of each and every one of us.
Exactly. No remorse for starting this plague, for starting the whole mess in USENET, relentlessly pursuing spamming readers, effectively funding advancement in spamming. It's the plague we'll have for the rest of our lives, will cost businesses billions, clogs up my email so bad when I'm on vacation that I miss important mail, and he's just fine with that. Truly all of hell can only look on this individual with admiration.
Normally I don't feel anyone should burn in hell, but he's up there with Hitler as far as I'm concerned. But, I suppose if they hadn't started it, some other cretin would have. Still, all spammers have earned my eternal ire.
This is the simple practice I have for seeking critical advice on films:
Read a few reviews
Note who wrote them and what they had to say
See the movies, and then reconcile which critic(s) you most often agree with
Look for their review when you're planning how to spend your disposable income
Update list as necessary
I've noticed some reviewers are excellent for films targeted at 18-30 year old, who are completely out of it when reviewing something like A Bugs Life. Keep tabs on where their opinions are off base and on target. Disappointingly many have forgotten what it was like to be young.
I swear, if I got up every morning to that tune on the radio, I'd drop a toaster into my bathtub, too.
I can't quite figure out how or why I'd want to do my own soundtrack for a movie. Seems there's plenty I like the sound to just fine, and those that I don't, eh... I'm not sure I'm cut out for the MST3K line of work.

Now I do have a lot of experience with running the play-by-play from the radio instead of from the TV during sports broadcasts.:-)
Well, there's the humping scene, though you don't actually see it, in the back of the cafe and there's her lackluster first boyfriend's performance. That's pretty much it. Pretty mild.
Lola was probably 'R' for violence.
Run, Lola, Run (Lola Rennt) played for a few months at the Santa Cruz Nickelodeon and Amelie has been playing since the last week of November, continuously.
Which goes a long way to explain why I don't watch the academy award shows. It's more political and business than what really should be done, but, hey they have to sell advertising time while they pat themselves on their backs, right?

Oh, and sorry about turning any readers into a newt, this morning, I'm still working on that one.
All solutions would be encrypted, copyrighted and patented
Winners would be told any monetary prizes were consumed in production, distribution, etc. (i.e. Hollywood Accounting)
The puzzles would have been more like: maximize the amount of breast that can fit in Britney Spears blouse, Phil Phnord can identify DeCSS code hidden in any webpage and since we don't want to pay him write a program to do it for us (hint: you won't get paid either), figure the amount of popcorn required to sit through the Titanic and time to get it assuming the concession line is always understaffed and there are no intermissions anymore during 3+ hour movies, create a program to automatically disable half the home entertainment media players with a new encryption scheme (all work immediately becomes property of RIAA/MPAA)
A new bill would be introduced into the US Senate declaring any who came up with dazzling solutions to be a national security threat
Copies would already be available on the internet and there would be a string of YRO articles blasting RIAA/MPAA for efforts to hide the solutions
Only competitors who look good or can passably sing or act would win, regardless of time to complete and/or accuracy
Somehow a bunch of useless pop stars would be snuck into teams to boost ratings
You should have castrated yourself, got on your Nike's and sweats and eaten your Jello Pudding some time ago, it's on the way out. One could always hope that the Co$ leaders could follow in HG footsteps.
I suppose that they could just go and suck it up, and absorb all of the costs of the license fees and distribute it free.
Perhaps you're congusing Mandrake with Microsoft, GE, IBM or some other company with lots of liquid assets they can absorb losses. In case you haven't noticed, Mandrake is suffering from low revenues, hence the membership drive.
The only thing I'd question is the short notice. They should take better care to avoid such a gaffe in the future. If they had announced, before 8.2 was released, that Star Office 6.0 would be at a premium due to Sun's charging, members would have less to gripe about.
Here's an older and simpler Conquest game, which is pretty much all tactical, very Risk like and can be had for a pittance in shareware (remember supporting shareware?) registration fee. Available for WinCE (not that I have one or have tried one), too.
...the Department of Energy (DOE)
is working to interconnect the first two computers which will form the genesis of the DOE
Science Grid, a virtual supercomputing system which will eventually encompass many
more systems at several locations. The larger of the two machines: DOE National Energy Research
Science Center's (NERSC) IBM SP RS/6000, a distributed memory machine with 2,944 compute
processors. This machine, together with a smaller 160 processor Intel system, will make up a combined
3,328 processor Unix system with 1.3 petabytes(!) of storage space. And this is only the beginning...
and in the end it's the stupid, neglectful or unethical, US energy policies and hands-off that screws rate payers when the govt is in bed with the likes of Enron.
Yeah, I'm impressed. Now imagine parts of it caught in a rolling blackout...
As another poster noted, getting into the game, the interface is insignificant. It could have 1280/1024 3D 24bit graphics, 5.1 sound and a joystick interface, but it wouldn't be the same. Quite possibly the inflexibilities of such dolling up the interface would interfer with gameplay. I'm perfectly happy with ascii, or even the colored ascii I played several years back.
I just took a look at the Win version with tiles and, though it looks very nice, I'm immediately distracted by trying to relearn things. So if new players use graphics and old players use ASCII, they'll hardly be able to speak the same language.

That's why Prohias dropped her, since cartoon had no tension. Out of respect for women, he wouldn't have any violence against her.
-... -.--.--. .-.--- .... .. .- ...
Gene Siskel (may he rest in peace) was the one who got into the deeper films, though I didn't necessarily agree with all the time.
Haven't seen Ebert and Roper, so don't know how it all stacks up. Siskel and Ebert were basically opposites and the show worked well on that account.
Yeah, I know, that's practically flamebait, but it so reminds me of Jon Lovitz portrayal of unethical lawyers. Yet, Laurence Canter and Martha Siegel have made a Sisyphus of each and every one of us.
But I comfort myself with the thought of their perdition being an eternity of having to read all of it.
