That post is genius, Real Genius.

The post does express things that bug me about some scientists.
    1. The recreation of a creature from a miniscule amount of data.
    2. The Orwellian nature of some parts of science. Once a theory is replaced by another, nobody seems to be cognizant of the fact that the current pet theory could be as easily replaced as the last theory. (We are at war with blue, we have always been at war with blue.)

You didn't have to purchase new hardware... but you would have a system that is a total dog if you didn't upgrade between Win98 and Win2k. Win98 would run fine with 32-64 MB of ram. Win2k needs at least 192MB to actually do anything after loading the OS. Technically it will run on less memory, but it doesn't run well.

My wife, friends and I have started playing poker instead of going to the movies. Generally we have a $10 buy-in (we are big time players.. haha). This is good for 2-4 hours of cards, conversation, laughs, etc. Overall, a much better evening with the chance of winning a little bit of money.

A couple of comments... My previous job was at an ISP. Your configuration is big iron compared to the boxes we were running sendmail on. Two sun servers with dual 300 procs servicing 10000 users. This was
overkill before the need for spam filtering.

We could always tell the customers who ran exchange. Their mailserver would go down at least once per week. You can blame poor administration, etc, but it was consistent from site to site....
