Why dont you take a lesson in history before giving math lessons. California had for several years a very large surplus and one of the most well balanced budgets in the country.
Its amazing what a little energy crisis (engineered out of state) can do to an economy.
And I thought pumpkin launching was a waste of time. At least their kinetic launchers can kill people; Fifi doesn't exactly strike awe or terror into the onlookers.
Most of the "Effect" of the Ionic Breeze is actually the creation of ozone which makes the air "smell" fresh but actually does little to cleanse it.
Try looking at any online opinion site (like epinions.com for example) and in nearly every case long time users of this product say its so inefficient that dust actually settles on and around it.

This computer would seem to fir the bill perfectly, now we just need to find a nice cheap source for a 8x3 inch or so lcd display for the dash.

So, ahh, why is it they can sequence the thing, they can publish the thing, but they can't figure out how large it is with better than say, %60 margin of error?
I saw that movie, they never go "to the moon" they go around it. And while I am too lazy to look the rest of these missions up, I am not convinced they all landed on the moon and then returned.
Actually I did catch that, I just wanted to make it clear to those reading why filing a grievance with the union is something to poke fun at. I wasn't directing anything at you.
I too am a civilian that works for the government, DOD. I have found over the years that the Union does NOTHING more than act as a crutch for those who are too inept to effectively perform their duties.
Boss leaning on you because your repair work never seems to stay 'repaired' very long? Perhaps it is because you cant make a solid solder joint to save your ass, despite repeated mandatory classes to teach you the proper technique. No matter, just call the nearest Union steward and he will straighten your boss out.
Get called down for playing solitare and other games on the computer for 7 hours out of your 9 hour work day. Dont worry, the union will straighten it out. (I always wondered why they argued for several computers in each workroom, despite the fact that 90% of the jobs in the area don't require one).
Got fired because you were caught stealing nearly $100k worth of advanced electronic testing devices for the Javalin? Call the Union and they'll get you back in provided you return the materials and promise not to do it again.
I could go on, but these few recent examples should help to explain why I will never join a government union, nor will I look fondly on those who rely upon them as a form of job security (to the point, in some cases, that they will specifically lie about their qualifications, capabilities and experience to get a new position knowing nothing can be done about the fact that they are unable to do the work.)
And the saddest part, the RIAA most likely puts more money into lobbying congress than all of those others combined. I wonder who will win this fight *scratches head*.
Although I don't remember much of my early life I have many false memories of early childhood, most having to do with remarkably vivid dreams.
When I was young (5 or 6) I had a dream that I could jump extra high, almost as though I had double jumped, from exerting extra energy as I reached the apex. This stuck with me for a long time, and I can remember later, at age 10 or 12 or so I was playing basketball and I tried to do this. I landed on my knee and tore off most of the skin.
I also used to fantasize about a girl who lived four houses away when I young, but who I could never spend time with because her father thought I was a punk. I met her about 8 years later and while we were talking I pulled one of those 'hey, remember when I came over to your house late at night and we snuck off to the park where we hid from our parents until morning' lines, to which she replied 'when the hell was that?'. Oops.
Ohh come now, just because you have a.net class does not mean your school has been compromised, especially if there is an alternative course that can be taken (go ahead, tell me the.net class is 300 level and below, and that there are no alternatives.)
Besides which, I didn't bitch about the fact that I was REQUIRED to take classes on C++, Java, Pearl, Spark Assembly, Verilog, OpenGl (why not Direct3D eh?), MIPS, and a whole slew of other languages that probably will not benefit me 1/10 as much as learning C# would.
Or is it that we should never change the corriculum, and still be teaching only fortran and cobol?
Furthermore, why is it that I should have to use Linux (on every friggin computer in the entire csci department) when all my teachers ask for word documents. Guess what, MSWord is the standard (even if you dont agree with it) and if Microsoft wants to sell their software to me under some shady clandestine program geared towards commiting my soul to their evil products, for $10 I am gonna jump all over it.
And big f'in deal if they have an ENTIRE ROOM for Microsoft.NET programming. My crummy ass school has several ENTIRE ROOMS dedicated to MACINTOSH development and LINUX development, and holy crap SPARK development, but not one for the OS that they are almost assuredly going to be using when they graduate... Which is a huge mistake if you ask me.
YEah, sure the beaches are nice, but the water is colder than hell.
Not to mention, none of the beaches you mentioned are among Californias best. In fact, given the fact that california has about 1000 more miles of beach than N.J. im sure that if you looked you would find one to your taste.
Besides, Being the most populated state is hardly a claim to fame, and the fact that you have a few wealthy people (which is mostly old money families that never ventured into the uncivilised lands of the west) stands for very little either.
There is a reason people sing about and write movies about going to California (and its beaches).. I cant remember the last time I heard a surf song about New Jersey.
What, we're giving out +5 for obvious trolls nowadays. Even ones that give out information that at least 99% of us already know?
Besides, I believe you have it backwards. Microsoft is not provided with hardware details, they GIVE their planned features for up and comming versions of directX to said companies so that they may provide full functionality, which is a benefit to the hardware makers, NOT microsoft (I believe it is the cards that market directX compatibility, not Windows, or DirectX that market Nvidia or ATI compatibility).
I thought I would add my anecdotal evidence to everyone elses.
I recently had to replace my 10 year old big screen Mitsubishi telivision because it was broken in the process of moving, but while I had it I never had a problem.
Afterwards I went and bought a high def. big screen Sony, and found that when I played movies or cable tv it looked great. But when I went to play my plasystation 2 on it (FFX if you care) I noticed that the picture on the screen had some severe warping on the sides (bows down on top, up on bottom, and in on both sides). This was most noticable in the game because of all the perfectly straight lines in menu boxes etc.
So I took it back and got another one, same problem, only this tv had color splotches as well.
So I took my PS2 to sears and started plugging it into every tv they had, and every tv with a picture tube (not projection) had the same problem to a varying degree, EXCEPT the Mitsubishi (and wouldn't you know it, it was the most expensive tv there).
So guess which TV I purchased, thats right the $300 Sylvania. Because it looked as bad as the rest, but was 1/3 the price.
Wait, I have a moral here. Ohh yeah, unless your willing to put out tons of money for only slight inprovement in quality, go with the cheapest crap because its hard to tell the difference between turds, they all stink.
My view is simple. Gun laws will keep law abiding citizens from obtaining weapons. Criminals, who get their guns illegaly will still get them. However, most illegaly obtained weapons were at one time purchased legally (see where I am going with this). So, if you make guns illegal, after awhile all the punks who get them from a friend who stole it from a neighbor will no longer have guns, and since they are the ones that use them the most for violent crime, all is well.
The more organized guys who perhaps can smuggle guns from over seas etc., well their really not the guys doing drivebys and home invasion robberies. Their crimes are minimal in comparison, and mostly against each other.
So, my theory, make handguns illegal and in 10 years violent crime from handguns will be nearly non-existant.
"I'll also point out that no one really knows how the planet's magnetic field is generated"
--
Yeah, sure buddy. I took introductory physics in elementary like everyone else. Magnetic forces are created either from electric current, or molecules alignment. As you pointed out, in the molten core of the earth there can be no alignment of the molecules.
Therefore the magnetic poles must be caused by an electric current. This current is plainly evident in every body of water as it approaches the ocean, and as you can see from the US map, land masses are always between oceans, so the current flows left or right along the equator. The magnetic field, being Normal to the direction of flow will then either be directly up, or down from the equator. Thus the strength of each individual pole is determined by the amount of flow in either direction.
Therefore, the weakening of earths magnetic field can be attributed to less rain, global warming, industrialization (dams / redirection of naturally forming waterways), and the french.

I hope for your sake you are not a lawyer / law student. You are seriously misguided.
Nowhere is it written (AND CERTAINLY NOT IN THE CONSTITUTION) that the supreme court has the job (right, responcibility, whatever) to decide whether or not a law is constitutional.
The only reason they do so, and are allowed to is because of tradition. Some extremely smart Justice of the Peace decided he would use a case as a means of causing a law to be self contridicting. And as the government had a vested intrist that he side with them, he did so (by stating that the law was unconstitutional and therefore invalid). They could either accept the decision and act on it, or not accept it and go against the ruling / what they wanted personally.
Because of this there is a precident for removing laws in cases brought to court where they seem to contradict previous law (the most fundamental being the constitution).
