But seriously, this could be concievable in districts like the one in which silicon valley is located. A grass roots campaign for a techno proficient congressman.
Then, as a nice side note, you could keep your own web page where you post who offered you what bribe under which guise, ask us if we agree with the payoff and give him our responce. Take website poles for how you should vote on which measures etc. That could be really cool.
Come on guys, I don't have enough mod points to mark you all redundant. Why dont you quit beating a dieing horse and either say something constructive or let it go.
The best thing about Betas is that you can go to any flea market and find a table or two with 50 unmarked beta tapes selling for a few cents a piece (maybe a buck, but you can always talk em down.)
You can then pop em in and you never know what youll find. Although more often than not is cheasy big hair 80's porn. Ohh yeah.
If, by standards comittee you mean something along the lines of the DVD consortium who are the only people who can license anything to be compatible with DVD, then DVD-R is the format to go with (notice every DVD-R drive has the DVD logo).
The DVD+R group do not have approval of the official authoratative body and simply rely on the fact that they are a few of the larger manufacturers around and may be able to force the standard on everyone else.
In other news, man hours devoted to extra "De Bugging" costs the economy 5x as much as the bugs do. Greater than 50% of this cost is carried by the developer, but thankfully is passed to the end consumer where it belongs.
Probab;ly wont go through, but this is my first First post. Man, I have been on SD forever, and I still cant figure out how to get or use mod points. Im a loser;)
All I have to say is its a travesty that Shaolin Soccor (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0286112) received no nominations, not even in the foreign film category.
Well, actually, this is the same concept employed by many stores in your local mall. And the coils are resiliant as long as you dont cut (even a little bit) the center part. Furthermore, they can be "de-activated" via an electronic pad, which I imagine either destroys their ability to reflect a signal, or changes that signal.
Now perhaps that is only because of the way these particular chips are designed, but if it is not, than rendering those chips useless would be very easy.
And you thought walking into macy's with a cellphone was bad...
Dude, do some research. The "Replaced" code is 100% sony free. I would point you to the sites that prove it, except they have all been shut down. Try looking on isonews.com in the ps2 forums, though finding anything reliable there is next to impossible.
The modchip makers are not completely stupid. They know that if they reproduced sony's copywrighted code that they could easily be shut down. That is why they design the chips without it, pretty smart eh?
Wow, every other post saying that Sony did this because of the DMCA and because the so called legitimate functions are not in fact legitimate.
You all forgot a very important fact. Both of the companies that Sony went after are located in the UK. Last time I checked the DMCA was part of American law, not international. And just it is NOT illegal to play imports, it may be illegal to modify a machine (again only by the DMCA) in order to play imports, but if you buy an import machine and play import games on it, there is no problem...
Now, as these companies are located in the UK, and the bulk of their customers are from countries other than the good ole USofA, the ability to play imports and other region dvd's is both legitimate for them, and a necessity (as the pal conversions for most games are complete sheite)
So, lets try and be a little less ethnocentric in the future guys.
I have read a couple of Bujold's books, but I find that as I read them I become more and more confused as to the order I should read them in.
I started out with the warrior's apprentice, because it was the first book with miles in it, and I was told it was a good place to start. Ok, so far so easy, I went on to the Vor Game after that. Then it became a little trickier, but after some time I figured that Cetaganda would be the next good one.
These three did seem to be more or less a fluid story, but after Cetaganda I have no idea where to go. Border's of Infinity? Brother in Arms?
I looked at a couple but none of them seem to pick up where Cetaganda left off.
If anyone knows offhand what should be the proper reading order, please let me know.
E-mail me at hodr@coldmail.com , err protecting my e-mail and all, you can figure it out.
Wow, you guys are all so quick to point out that it was "Originally a Mac Game" then you ALL jump to the FALSE conclusion that it was cancelled for the mac after MS purchased bungie. Hey, sorry to burst your bubble, but at the Electronics Entertainment Expo 2 years ago showed the first playable version of Halo, they had already completely dropped the macintosh version. This was also before the x-box had more than butterfly demos to show, and had not showed even the slightest interest in the product.
And lets not be hippocritical (I know I mispelled that, sue me). Sony has led the way with "purchasing" exclusive rights to console game releases by third parties, and Nintendo for the most part invented the term second party (which they use as a euphamism for "Development house that we bought a controlling interest in, and who will ONLY be developing for us, and will get all of our hardware dev kits etc. in advance of all third parties, ala Rare" )
Sure, Microsoft is evil, but lets not pretend they stay awake at night inventing new ways of taking over the world. They just follow the paths already tread by those who have been successful in the past.
And to the guy who mentioned the Dreamcast, you made a good point, but forgot to mention that the system runs on WINDOWS CE. Which means microsoft can make a stable console operating system if they have to.
Come on guys, we all know what made MP3's famous. Sure, I could have told you about mp3's in 96. When it took me 15 minutes to encode 1 minute of music, and there was no music available to download. But the vast majority of those who use mp3's do so because it was so easy to get them on NAPSTER (remember that thing?)
The solution is perhaps simpler than it looks. Adopt or create the next BIG p2p sharing technology that is easy to use and can support alot of traffic. Then flood it with OV files. The only real problem is encoding the music. Course that will come itself. All the new stuff will be encoded as it is released, and the old stuff will be encoded by the millions of people with nothing better to do than re-encode their cd's every chance they get (yes people do this).
OV can survive, it just needs help. Perhaps they can have an OGG Open Source music sharing service, which would ensure that it never goes down (because anyone could create a server or client etc.)
This is my first post, and probably a redundant one at that.
I noticed the same problem when I first installed ME..
I have several applications that must be run under a pure dos envioronment.
The boot disk created Millennium does let you boot to a dos environment, with / without loading anything. (at which point you could run your autoexec.bat or whatever you wish)
Go for it, ill vote for you (and can..)
;)
Congressman Guppy06, has a nice ring

I still have several beta units.

"Not a Photoshop job" he says with a straight face, despite the star wars warp space visible through the front window of car...
I think what everyone really wants to know is exactly how far can you overclock an IPAQ when all the components are at -30 C.
Dude, Japan will never have a major economic crash because us westerners will never cease to pay $30 for a 3 espisode dvd of evangelion.
Probab;ly wont go through, but this is my first First post. ;)

Yeah, ok. just as soon as these super pirates get ahold of the source material (What are the chances of this?).
Ohh ohh, before I get tired of them why doesn't someone make another stupid comment about REAL GENIUS and get free karma points!
All I have to say is its a travesty that Shaolin Soccor (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0286112) received no nominations, not even in the foreign film category.
AGHHHHHHHHHHHH
That would be the second most annoying Parachurch Industries web site I have every seen!
Alright, your both crack smokers.
16 bit color uses 4 bits per color and the rest go for transparency (RGBA)
2^4 = 16
RGBA = 16^4 = 65k colors
I think you will find this in the preface of almost any introductory computer science book.

Could I use this technology to blame farts on other people?
