I suggest that NPR and others like it are also tools of the propaganda machine. Just look at who 'underwrites' the station: big grants from big completely entrenched corporations. Like Exxon for example. If you dont think those guys require spin on stories, yer in trouble.

Take a look at this Afghan newspaper online:

    Afghan Daily

    and

    Afghan News Network

And compare to the stories on our favorite major news sources like ABC, CNN, MSNBC, etc.. Ask yourself why the Afghan paper contains much of he same propaganda that we get. Now why would a country, who has a philosophy so different from ours feature the same 'news stories' and 'opinions' as we do?

That my friend shows you just how deep the rabbit hole goes. Our influence is everywhere, and obviously, as the events of the past two weeks has shown, people are sick of it.

I have an attempt to show news stories from different sources around the world, to show the varying opinions, and to show what is being 'missed' by our mainstream sources.

There is no escaping that one. Cambodia has 300 people a day average step on em. still. they think it will take hundreds of years to get rid of all the mines laid in that country.

So my question is this: My co-worker is a failed linux hack (could not understand where he was to type 'man tar' in order to get the manpage), has never written a line of code anywhere in his life, has no concept of logic, etc ..etc.. etc. but thinks that he is (and is currently gettting seed money for a project) going to be able to write a massive application that runs against a mySQL database using web objects with no experience whatsoever... Is web object so sweet that it can work this magic? If so have I wasted my time learning PHP, Perl, C, etc.. (just kidding)

Me, I have not been a redhat user since some 4 version- I could not stand the installer, but I got curious about this RedHat fixed Mandrake distro and downloaded and installed it at home. It is real nice, they seem cool (for redhat types *wink*) and they aren't worth 5.3 billion dollars for using someone elses software.

IMHO, if you are gonna play the game that RedHat is playing, which is betting the bank on free software, you have to be willing to play by the rules(of the license), which is if mandrake, you or I wish to repackage and sell the work as our own, that is our choice, unless we infringe on something not protected by the license.

I am just glad that Mandrake is improving the product.
