First of all. The $100 is a "helping the helping themselves" type of a project. No problem of famine or poor economics has ever been fixed by just pouring money into the country. Usually it just makes an elite group of people very very rich. Social and educational fixes are the only thing that has ever worked.
Secondly. "4) Stop pouring money into China." Why? Are they in any way an enemy or a bad country? It's a highly capitalistic country with major problems that are being addressed. In a way there are a few countries that are more like the US than China. It's also a huge market and banning trade with them is just an amazingly bad idea.
I had this problem when I was trying to get in contact with IBM to get support on Tivoli SAN Software. Even though I am Icelandic I speak very good english like most other people in my county (we are tought it from the age of 9.) But of course I have a slight accent and I could never get out of the first menu. Who in hell thought that this could be in any way more reliable or easy than simply having a touch button menu. I really can understand why they would have some form of computer service to answer and do basic organizing of calls but it can not result on us not getting any service at all.
Actually no... Most of the time the light would still be operating on the good old light speed. But for it to work in computers you still would have to slow it down in places and even stop it. For example to let another beam of light to pass before it can go through.
Another practical use of using light would be the possibility of smaller size and less energy usage.
Also remember that Burt Rutan (a personal hero of mine) is able to do this BECAUSE of the shuttle and other accomplishments of NASA. As he himself has pointed out. All the variables have been found out. You can't make cheap things without somebody making an expensive version of them first. Do you think Ford would have been able to make cheap cars without other people having made cars before him.
Also remember that the Burt Rutan space ship is a LOT more dangerous than the Shuttle. The Shuttle's track record is better than anything humans have ever designed before. And that is one of the reasons why it is expensive. In government spending a fatality is unacceptable. In private industry well... Shit happens.
There is a sync issue with this. It's got to do with the APEX standard and nothing the DEV's can do about it.
However. This is not a problem since VLC and MPlayer can move the sound all around. So just watch your torrents with VLC(which I guess you do anyway) and make the sound be a few seconds early. Easy peasy.
When I worked on a rather large IT company in the old days[a year ago] with a lot of clients I found that Radmin was the best choice. The speed and refresh rate of it is great. Much more than in any standard VNC programs I have tried. Plus the option of using a radmin computer as a gateway to another radmin computer is great when trying to help cusomers over a vast WAN. Plus it has shell and file transfer possibilities. And I found it useful for checking how my EVE Online pilot was doing from work.
Only problems is that is is Windows Only.
For adminin linux or unix computers I just use SSH and an X tunnel. Heck. I even ran Maya between continents using that method. Both systems running Irix.
To admin the Windows servers at work I use a combination of an SSH tunnel and RDP.
Honestly. I don't care. I don't care who did it first. Like I don't care who created the window GUI first. I hate the idea that someone owns an idea.
People wanted something like Konfabulator but without the problems that follow Konfabulator. Apple now gives it to them. And I really don't care if it is similar in some way. Konfabulator took an old idea and made it better. Apple now does the same. The Konfabulator guys have no rights to start a riot about this. Now they are forced to make their product better. So basically the users win.
If Apple had been successful at stopping everyone else using the window system we never would have gotten a window systems we now have. If it is possible to completely own an idea there would never be any innovation. There would be no progress.
How would the world be if the Beatles would have registered Rock'n'Roll and no one been allowed to make anything similar.

In most of the wide shots in the battle of Kaza'dum(or however it is spelled) these were CG characters. But you actually think that these are the real actors.
However. In Matrix 2 and 3 everything smelled like CG. I was getting tired with the Neo CG character in all the battle shots.
So it is not a question of things you've never seen being more realistic. We have all seen real people before. And they bluffed us in LotR still. We have all seen real spiders and we have all seen CG generated spiders in hundreds of movies before. But nothing like this.
Well... BIS was just horrible in the end. All the good guys working there are gone a long time ago.
And their recent projects have just been badly designed and way not original. And althoug they had their name on some interesting products. Majoroty of it were developed by other companies.

Actually... It was new line that first came up with the idea of 3 movies.
When PJ starting on the film for Miramax they wanted 2 movies. Then they saw that it was way to much money then Miramax could handle so they allowed PJ to take it to New Line. The guy at New Line said no one in his right mind would do 2 movies. This is a 3 movie project.
But honestly. Thay would never even have considered doing 6 movies. When LOTR is over it will have taken PJ 10 years of deticated work. Doubt anyone has the stumack for making a movie for 20 years. Plus it will suck to call some actors to a re-shoot only to find out that they have been dead for 6 years.
I think we just have to wait. Photographs had the same problem and it is not long since they became a respectable art form. We just have to push it on.
