From an epic storytelling standpoint, Lucas has a point: There aren't really hooks in Jedi to attach story arcs to. The first two trilogies are neatly integrated (The Fall and Redemption of Anakin Skywalker), but there's no similar story arc to continue.

I can list half a dozen aircraft off the top of my head that wouldn't be able to keep the pointy end into the wind if it weren't for flight control computers, and by and large they work just fine.

The articulating nozzle is a really big moving feature, but it is just the nozzle, not the engine. There's also a lift fan mounted behind the cockpit, which is driven by a shaft off the engine.

The reason Florida is important is because a) it has lots of electoral college votes (its voters are more equal than the rest of us) and b) it is narrowly split republican vs. democrat.
I'll leave it as an exercise for the class to do some basic reading on the Electoral College. Essentially, it's a proxy that changes the set of states that are important from the populous ones to the ones that, by accident of geography and demographics, have lots of people and close races.

The rudder and the front wheel are not connected on larger aircraft. Usually there's a little wheel or lever, rather than the rudder pedals.
