    What good is a weapon you don't have access to? I'm going to build a super scary stockpile of weapons and then burry them in someone else's back yard???? I sure better trust them a whole lot, or at the least they better be too far from me to turn around and use my weaponds to hurt me.

    It is my understanding (most likely wrong) that Netscape 7.5 will be based on Mozilla 1.4. I further understand that 7.5 will be the last Netscape release. Now, keeping in mind that the shift in development direction only applies to releases after 1.4 my guess would be that Netscape/AOL couldn't possibly care any less what Mozilla decides to do after the 1.4 release.

    I did.

    As did many others.

    Still have yet to find a more satisfying Linux distro.

    Although, the KDE world is finally starting to catch up with enhancements offered way back then by Corel.

    It seems like you are comparing apples and oranges. Gnome apps will only run where Gnome libraries are installed as well. Also, you do need libraries installed to run GTK and QT apps....

    The direct comparison would be QT apps to GTK apps. In that case, the main GTK advantage is that GTK is free on all platforms.

    Surely you see that you've just totally eliminated the need for any online connectivity.

    Chess is a two player game. Your model has both players controlled locally. So what we have is a local chess application. We sure can't make any of those without TCPA!

    About the only benefit I can see is you can be sure that the high scores sent to the central server are have not be tampered with....

    I think the idea was that USB would replace PS/2 (IE no more PS/2 connectors). In which case you can go out and purchase all the PS/2 keyboards you like, but in preschool they taught me the circle does not go in the rectangle....

    Bull!

    An OS *IS* a kernel. Everything else is simply a program which runs on that OS.

    The kernel makes no distinction between a command shell, LS, or your little Hello World program you wrote 3 years ago.

    They all make use of the same system call architecture to do the tasks which they do.

    You can call it a system if you like, but to say that somehow Bash and LS are part of the OS is just not born out by the actual implementation of the system....
