The Return of S3

IMHO for Linux community drivers don't matter so much as free documentation. S3, please release detailed documentation to your card, so people could create Free Drivers, both 2D (XFree86, kdrive, framebuffer, etc) and 3D (DRI).
What's the point to not releasing documentation, when your card is not "high speed"? What you have to hide?
By opening source of drivers and releasing documentation - company could gain:
better drivers (because coders will find bugs and send patches)
new drivers (for Linux and other OSes)
karma
And it means money, because better drivers and better karma means bigger sell.
Famed hacker and master social engineer Kevin Mitnick has been commissioned to write a new book following the success of his first text The Art of Deception.

You should compare old Soundgarden stuff (for example spooman, heard it? seen video?) with new shit. It's exactly same story like with other "progressive" bands: Metallica, Paradise Lost, Theatre Of Tragedy, Anathema, etc, etc... From real music into tv/radio crap. But hey! It's their own shit^H^H^H^Hmusic. They can do what they want.
Borland should open Kylix. It should be possible to make source open, but sell license to produce not-GPL software. Just like with MySQL. I see just no market for closed source Kylix.
Why care what RH CEO or other "important people" will say? Linux may be not ready for desktop, but I am using it. I use it for everything I need - without OpenOffice or Evolution.
How much longer we will need to listens what companies say about Linux? It doesn't matter! Important is what we can do with Linux on our desktops.
You need to play movie? Get mplayer. Or xine. Or few other players. Aren't they ready? Is Windows so much better in playing movies? What about music ? Watching tv? Isn't multimedia a desktop stuff?
You need to browse WWW. Is really Mozilla so bad as browser? Or maybe there are no mail/news clients which work in Linux? Or it isn't possible to chat on irc or with communicators? Where is the problem?
You can say that Linux is not ready for desktop. You can repeat it million times. But people are using it.
IMHO Gimp and Mplayer are most important projects on list. GNOME and KDE are something everyone is talking about, but not really using (you think you use GNOME or KDE? what except *libs or *wm? do you know how large are these projects?). You can say many good things about OpenOffice, but it's similiar to MS Office: huge and slow. BTW Where is Mozilla? Evolution is MS Outlook replacement. Well... MS Office, MSIE, MS Outlook, where the hell is any innovation? No Blender. No games/emulators. No LyX. No X-Chat.
Silence is part of music. Any not-silence may be defined as techno. Anything can be used as sample for example in doom metal.
Playboy picture converted to audio file is better kind of music than Britney Spears. Shareware binary converted into mp3 is still far better than Metallica's St Anger.
...but Atari is still better. You can use SIO2PC to use your desktop or server as Atari floppy, you can also use Atari as console. But most important, obvious reason why Atari is just better: best multiplayer strategy game on 8-bit computers was about planet IRATA. If you don't know what game is it, then you lost your best years, trust me:)
Concerned that information about your file-sharing username may have been subpoenaed by the RIAA? Check here to see if your username or IP address is on one of the subpoenas filed with the D.C. District Court. This information is drawn from the court's publicly available PACER database and will be updated when that system is updated.
Now ask yourself - which IPs will RIAA check first?;-)
FOR GOOGLE GROUPS, YOU MUST IDENTIFY EACH MESSAGE THAT ALLEGEDLY CONTAINS INFRINGING MATERIAL BY ITS MESSAGE-ID.
So, they bought DejaNews, they own probably only existing complete (?) Usenet archive, and NOW they want to censure it!
I don't care about links, if you want link you can find it in many places. Problem is Usenet archive. There is no other place where you can find posts from 1995 or even 1992.
Dear google, I fsck your link database, but leave Usenet archive unchanged, you are not creators of that content!
Isn't what Debian and other "automatic" distros do? Sure, you can decide what to install and what to uninstall, but how many people really do what installer is doing? Sure, Microsoft stuff is closed, and Debian/Gentoo/etc stuff is open, at least for now.
What I am trying to tell is: lots of you trust in Debian developers, you trust they give you good set of applications with good configuration. You don't trust Microsoft. But what about "standard users"? They trust Microsoft just like you trust Debian. What's the difference for them?
The first lesson of this test is that minor version numbers can apparently make a large difference. If you're using Gnumeric 1.0.13 with large sheets and waiting a while for them to open, it's probably worth investigating version 1.0.12.
Ooops. Two different versions on different distros. Let's fix it. Oh, still difference. Maybe it's because different GNOME-libs versions on different distros? OK, let's fix it. Oops. Different GTK is used. Oops. Is same version of glibc really matters? What is that glibc anyway... Oops, first distro was tested with KDE running, maybe we should switch to IceWM there too? Ooops, do you think running Apache may slowdown gnumeric?
Seriously, this is just nonsense. If you want to compare something, first you need to understand how it works.
I don't understand it. In first table there is comparision between reiser4(A) and ext3(C). Big numbers in C/A are red, small numbers in C/A are green. Small C/A means that ext3 is faster than reiser4. So green color is bad for reiser4.
But in next table A is reiser, and B is reiser4. So B/A is small and green when B is faster. So this time green is better for reiser4.

Is it list of best visual effects or worst movies in the year?

Hollywood will destroy another good book :-(((
Old kernel (with serious bug), old Mozilla, last stable XFree86 (still better than in Debian, they use 4.2.1).
Where can I see detailed list of packages in that distro?
I haven't tried Vendetta yet, download is huge, and it's "test". Could you tell me how playable is it? Worth downloading?
Try few free (of cost) games:
strategy
FreeCiv - new version was just released, FreeCiv is not as good as Civ3 in single player, but it's very playable in mp
TEG - if you want simple strategy (it's risk clone)
lgeneral - panzer general clone
action
RTCW ET - IMHO best team action game
Cube - simple multiplayer FPS, with nice graphics
Armagetron - 3D tron implementation
sport
CannonSmash - table tennis simulation
foobillard- billard simulation
misc
Scorched 3D - scorch (or for younger slashdot users: worms) clone
You can get a Windows/PC emulator of both calculators,
;-)
Hm. Better would be "You can get a Windows/PC emulaator for both calculators
So, really, what's the point if I can't run emulator on calculator even with free OS?

DRM is used in Linux kernel on desktop computers - Direct Rendering Module is needed for open source implementation of hardware accelerated OpenGL.
RMS is used mostly for marketing - eeryone knows Richard Stallman.
And finally - RM is upcase of very important Unix command, which allows to remove both applications and copyrighted data.
Damn Microsoft, must you steal everything? Try to think about your own acronyms. Try to create something instead stealing all the time.

What post do you mean?
Why "complete albums" could be illegal? First google answer for these words was
Amazon listmania. Is Amazon illegal by your logic?
Please read this .

Slashdotted. Could anyone make mirror?
