You guys need to have a chat. Geeks need space of their own. If you let her control the cable behind your computer, she will think she can control everything in the new house, including _YOU_. She needs to come to an agreement that you get some space of your own. Even if it is in combined space (which will probably be required if you have kids), it needs to be completely under your control. She should respect you enough to not move so much as an empty gatorade bottle. It's only fair (but always give her more space that she controls, and always let her decorate)
Before everyone says I don't know what I'm talking about, married 4 years (co-habitated for 2 before that). My office, bedside table, and the garage are designated "Pack Rat" areas (anything goes). I'm sure my wife would rather have those areas perfect, but she still understands that she needs to let me be who I am (a geek with a messy office and a whole lotta computers).
WOULD YOU PLEASE STOP SLASHDOTTING THIS SITE! I am trying to do some serious research into the truth that has been hidden from my eyes. I finally find a source of hidden knowledge that is better than the one buried under the sphinx, and you geeks have to go and wreck it. _bastards_
Meantime, Take-Two is milking this product for all it is worth: Next year the company will even be introducing a Gameboy version of the thing, so that kids can carry it around with them wherever they go. This way they'll be able to get re-stimulated, whenever necessary, with some of the most menacing messages known to civilized man.
Gameboy version? When??? I have resisted buying the GB-SP, but this would be a reason to get one NOW. I'd like to thank the NY Post for letting me know I will be able to get this!
...And, it returns a pop-under for your trouble. So, I get sponsered links, and then a pop under, and then another click, and I can get the results I was looking for.
This is so far off base, that it does not really deserve reading. After reading this, I was mystified. The two issues have nothing to do with each other.
1. The auto barrons tried to prevent Ford from making cheap cars. 2. Ford sued, and won, allowing them (him) to make cars.
Now if ford had been stealing the other manufacturers cars, and then selling them in his showrooms, that would be more like what is happening today.
1. People are downloading music. 2. The RIAA is trying to stop this.
So, lets compare these another way: In the auto suits it was little guy suing big guy. In the music ones, it is big guy suing little. Opinionated idiot tries to compare them.
It's not my fault man. Don't blame me (please). It's not my fault. Contol your damn kids, and don't let them get their hands on my new video game ($49.95 at your local Best Buy). They should not be exposed to my game (that they are going to love you for it when you give it to them). Please don't sue me. Thanks.
Bill and Steve have never shown much ability running a business.
Ummm, wow. Dude, I'm not crazy about them either. However, if you think that becoming the richest guy in America, and your company has 40 Billion in the bank indicates someone without "ability running a business", you are an idiot. You don't have to like him, and you don't have to like his tactics. However, the end results are EXACTLY what running a business is about. Grow up.
Microsoft get lumbered with enough bad press as it is. All it takes is for one 14 year old to travel half the globe to meet a guy she was chatting to in MSN "channels" for MS to get slated for allowing this to happen
Ok, think about that for a second. Have you EVER heard a report on the mainstream news that specified the company who owned the "chat" service? My guess is no. When you listen to them, they say "Internet Chat Room". AOL or Microsoft are NEVER referred to. MS and TW are also media companies. Can't rock the bed.
If we are going to do this, we need a petition for Libby Hoeler! She is WAY more famous on the internet than some punk with a lightsaber. Get her into a scene with Natalie! Heck, Darth can watch.
I didn't even know he was sick. Oh, yes I did know he was sick. Why did he always have to change subjects in the middle of a book?
Good story... And then I heard this big bang over my head, I thought it was the trumpet sounding, but it was every freaking character I had ever written about camping out in the place where I now reside. Crap drug induced story to fill the rest of the book...
Problem with that is, if I got an OEM laptop or computer the first thing I'd do is format the thing. How can they prove I read the licence if I needed to boot the thing to read it?
Problem with that is RTFA!!! Damn it, I know it's slashdot, but it says right in it that they tried this.
Sorry, I don't always read them, but I do if I'm going to comment on it. I know, flamebait.
Huge difference. If they do it, they are proactive. If it is done to them, they are reactive. Although the sequence of events ends up being the same, they don't have half a million geeks pointing fingers at them because a worm took down their site. Of course, if it got on the news the other way, the report would say "The Internet was taken down by a worm".
Oops, going off topic: When the news says "Internet Chat Room", why can't they just say AOL? Time Warner? When they say "Email Virus", why can't they just say MS-Outlook? MS-NBC? When they say "Internet Worm", why can't they just say Microsoft has another hole, what's up with Linux?
Does anyone else get the idea that this is exactly how they wanted it to work? Even if they thought it was fully secure, some geek would find a way to exploit it. How can they fix an election in a secure system? Make it bad, and scrap it quickly, before the 04 elections.
George Bush, or my wife's bush. Both have the same right to be running this country right now. (don't get excited Al, if I compare George to the front hole, you are the other hole in the back)
No manufacturer can offer printers at cost now because nobody would pay $250 for an inkjet
Ya know, I just don't get this. I understand it, but I don't agree with it. There is no way that this piece of plastic I print through costs $250 to make. Your stating a theory as fact. Sure, there was research at the beginning to make it, but lets be realistic. They can buy a 27" TV from Amazon for less than that (Sharp 27U-S60). Heck, a 19" TV/VCR Combo is $229 (Toshiba MV19M4). $250 to manufacture a crappy little printer, no way. They are just ripping off as much money as they can get with the ink.

This thing is great. It is preventing my unauthorized slashotting attempt.

Wow, the mind boggles.
I am going to sue Microsoft. They need to pay for my hernia operation, because I split my gut laughing at this.
Far be it from me to flame a doctor (right), here goes:
Pretentious - Making or marked by an extravagant outward show; ostentatious.
Pluralize that or not. It doesn't make a vas deferens to me.
Ok, I think I figured it out.
The shows suck.
I would be happy to sell this research to any network that can afford it.

I, for one, welcome our new Dinosaur overlords.
And of those 25,320 comments, how many were in favor of SCO? Think about it Darl.

Dear Linus,
You were a hero of mine, until this letter. Now, you are a SuperHero! The SuperBestFriends had an opening, but I would say it is now taken.

Dear Darl,
I am speechless. I have so many thoughts wizzing through my head that I want to express, that my brain just locked up.

Now replace IBM with Microsoft, and OS/2 with windows. Not so clever now Mr. Gates !
Now replace IBM with "Natalie Portman", and OS/2 with Grits! Not so clever now Mr. 443963!
