    I have been planning on retiring all my old worn out laptops into home servers. The problem is that old worn out laptops is that not only have no battery life to speak of, but they tend to have broken cooling systems as well that make running a reliable server difficult.

    While the multi-boot feature is "pending", I would point out that ubuntu has been compiled and installed on some touchbooks by their owners already.

    Irritated isn't quite what I would call it.

    It takes 1 breath of air near scented candles to cause me "irritation". A few minutes of exposure to scented candles and I will have chest pain and trouble breathing. It takes 15 minutes of exposure to scented candles and I will actually start bleeding from my nose. More than that soon I will start vomiting.

    The chemicals used in many cleaning products and perfumes cause similar, but less severe reactions as well.

    In 2007, a similar hole opened after a sewage pipe broke pipe just a few blocks from this weekend's disaster. Bonis was part of a team of geologists and engineers brought in to investigate and advise officials on what went wrong.

    "Our recommendation was that this could happen again," he recalled. "When you have water flowing from storm water runoff, a sewage pipe, or any kind of strong flow, it eats away at the loose material. We don't know how long it has to go on before it collapses. But once it starts collapsing, God help us."

    Not sure what you call "good" but I am using this one on my 140W 965, it is certainly better than stock but still a bit "budget". I have not tried overclocking it yet, no real need. But it should be able to handle the heat of your lower wattage processor while overclocked just fine.

    Exactly. You can get an unlocked quad core 3.2Ghz AMD 955 for $160 on newegg, that is more than enough performance for anything a "gamer" is going to be doing. The only reason to even want more than that is if you are chasing ego with benchmarks/folding@home or are doing bulk HD video encoding/graphics rendering.

    Microsoft is sitting at market saturation, the only way to grow from here is to make a bigger market. Why do you think the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation is working to improve quality of life in Africa? The jaded cynical capitalist in me says that it is to open new markets for Microsoft products.

    html 5 is screwed from the start because it isn't xhtml2.

    If I was to design the future of the web, it would be xhtml2 with css3. Plus simple site based local storage (cookies that don't always get transmitted to the server would do if the storage size policy was a little less strict), the ability to transfer part of a model to the next page on submit without making a round trip to the server, and throw in some canvas/audio/video tags for everyone else enjoy.

    I agree that for everything from the i7 920 and up, intel is unquestionable faster. Even the new 6 core AMD chips will be able to match/beat the i7 920 at a some tasks despite similar system costs.

    The AMD 955 at ~$160 outperforms the intel E8400, Q8200 and Q8400 and i5-650 available in the range of ~150 to ~190. The same goes for just about every lower price point as well.

    I think that the larger section of the market lies in the low to mid range chips. I am not just talking about price, but value as well. In that range, AMD certainly has better value by having higher performance per dollar spent for just about any price point in that range.

    I think you may be a bit off here. AMD meets or exceeds the performance available from Intel chips at every point of the price curve except the very high end where they do not compete at all.

    The i7 920 is the only real competitor to AMDs chips in price/performance, coming in a bit faster than the AMD 955/965 in both performance and cost.. Above that point, incrementally more power from Intel comes at exponentially higher costs. Below that point and AMDs chips beat everything Intel has at each price point.

    Same here. I am running a Asus motherboard with the Radeon HD 3300 graphics chipset, dual booting 9.10, now 10.04 and windows 7. I have drivers available under both OS's and the hardware is plenty good enough for everything that I have thrown at it (admittedly, I am not exactly playing crysis, but it decodes 720p without a hiccup and plays all the games that I both have and like).

    Lost is the worst show to ever have more than one season aired. The game show "Are you smarter than a 5th grader" with Jeff Foxworthy has better drama, dialog, plot and characters. Lost is seriously that bad. I have watched a few episodes of lost and I regret that I will never be able to get those hours of my life back.

    I do not understand the relevance of these questions in regards to my statements.

    I understand the basics of the technical implementation of cached thumbnails.

    Legally, these fall under "reduced quality copy" and may be interpreted effectively as a summary of the work for informative purposes, just like quoting a book in an essay can be legitimate.

    But copying images directly, using thumbnails without citation or as part of a separate work is usually copyright infringement.

    That is still copyright infringement in most cases.

    You have no right to redistribute another persons original works without prior authorization by the original creator or someone who has been given that right through licensing from the original creator.

    You can link back to their original source, and you may be able to create a reduced quality copy for non-profit educational purposes, but that is about it without going through extra effort.

    Holy crap? Hulu? I thought it was only available on laser disc? I have a set of laser disc rips from a hell of a long time ago, but the audio was screwed up in half the episodes.

    It was my favorite cartoon when I was young. It was pretty edgy back then, the only cartoon that even attempted to deal with things like death and emotion.
