    There is nothing to see here folks, move on. The bug kicks in only under certain circumstances. The circumstances are apparently running a Windows system with Internet Explorer as the default browser. Come on, how many slashdotters do that?

    Umm because IE is shit, lagging about 3 years behind the rest. They STILL have not managed to produce a *fully* standards compliant browser.

    Well, IE is shit, but currently there isn't any browser that's fully standards-compliant.

    First it's gotta download that 7 Meg file, then Adobe's gotta kick start, and then it doesn't let me highlight anything to keep me from copying and pasting.

    And re:slow & bloated; just go to the plugin directory and delete anything you have no need for (ie. most of it). Voilà, fast-booting, non-bloated adobe reader.

    imnsho, anything xpdf-based is way slower than acrobat in page-rendering, and generally not clever enough to search ligatured words.
