I've smoked 16 years 20 a day at least. During those years I've tried to stop a couple of times, albeit half-heartedly, and of course never succeeded.
A little over two years ago a friend (also smoker - or ex-) got me a book. A guy named Allen Carr has written one called Easy Way To Stop Smoking. You smoke while you read it, and when it's done - you put out your last cigarette and throw the rest out.
I did that on a monday - on the following friday I went to a party and drank hard - All the while looking at smokers thinking "YES! I'm glad that isn't me!" - I can't really tell you how EASY it was! Amazing! - Oh, yeah, and that was two years ago.
Check it out! You can get it at Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk or even at Barnes & Noble.
Was that some people would have to start iTunes just to "eject" the iPod... If I use windows to eject it, the pod crashes/hangs - iTunes ejects it normally - VERY annoying - It's not like that for all people apparently...
The Centrino is a kit comprised of the Pentium-M, the 855 chipset and the PRO/Wireless 2100 MiniPCI card... My bad;) I still think, however, that the statement I commented on sounds "wrong";)
/.'er: Whoa. Deja vu.
Trinity: What did you just say? /.'er: Nothing. Just had a little deja vu.
Trinity: What happened? What did you see? /.'er: A post on slashdot about a CPU. Then another just like it.
Trinity: How much like it? Was it the same post? /.'er: It might have been. I'm not sure. What is it?
Trinity: A deja vu is usually a glitch in the Matrix. It happens when they change something. /.: Figures. Perl sucks.
While I think zealotry is never a good thing (maybe except with regard to porn...erh, nevermind), there is a fundamental difference between the "normal" terrorist and the "normal" linux zealot. Terrorists are usually a (zealous) member of a religion which regards the rest of us as infidels, barely higher than pigs, if that. To them, the infidels, and ALL infidels, must die. I don't think this compares to a linux zealot at all. I have yet to meet the linux geek that wants to kill windows users (for real that is).
My biggest beef with iTunes is iTMS - You can only buy music if you live in the US and have an american creditcard. Sucks. Any word on when they'll let the world buy too?
Ok, this post will be labelled as a troll, but who cares. I see a lot of "What do you need so much memory for?!", and "You're not running a web server, or playing games" and shit like that.
A laptop is, for me and a lot of people I know, machine to take with you, to act as a complete replacement of your workstation. Therefore I demand that it be as fast and responsive as my workstation. That means, fast CPU, fast graphics adapter, reasonable harddisk space and a lot of RAM. Now the Toughbook has a reasonably fast processor (900 MHz Centrino is roughly equivalent to a 1600 MHz P4), but it's RAM is only expandable to 512MB, which I think is questionable (but adequate), the harddrive is 40GB which is fine. The graphics adapter (Intel 855GM integrated stuff) I don't know about, I'd be happier with a new NVidia or ATi. I like gaming, and I'd want to game on the go too.
Erh, ok and it's around 2400 US$. No way man.
Bottom line is that I am definitely not impressed with this machine. Far from it.
Check out any other brand - Sony Vaio, anything! I prefer the Dell Lattitude D600 - the 1.3GHz P-M starts around 1300 US$.
Oh, and ...this P4-M 900 Centrino based laptop... - P4-M and Centrino are two different things. The Toughbook is a Pentium-M Centrino processor, not a Pentium 4 Mobile processor (or both).
Well that's it for me. You can go about your business now:)
One thing that frustrates me (pisses me off rather) is that iTMS is only avaiable in the USA. Has anyone heard any rumors (I couldn't find any info) on when they will be international or a list of countries they'll be available in?
Anyway, try an iPod (the new ones in 10, 20 and 40 GB capacity). It's a bit expensive but I guarantee you you won't regret it! I bought a 20GB version and haven't looked back! (No I'm not a mac user)
Indeed! That is one thing that I cannot live without anymore! An efficient built in popup blocker:) The AdBlock plugin is also nice, although it loads the ads and then hides them... Ideally it should just not load them;)
/. should post dupes in a separate category! :)

What does it cost? What I really mean is, can we get the book, online? :P
It's viruses - not virii ;P
That's why the apache usage percentage is so low with them - The app crashes, and they assume IIS ;)
Somebody put up a .torrent ! Now! :) This I want to see!

Alright! Light'em if you got'em! :P Nah, better stop smoking anyway... /me goes to light a cigarette...
Except that Novell can just tell SCO that they can't sue - I wonder why we don't hear more on this... Since it appears that SCO can't sue IBM anyway.

Dude, I'm sure he meant bloke! You know, blokes! :)
I, for one, welcome our new openfiling overlords.
The real question is this: Does it print on paper? :)

Aaaaah nice!
SoGamed's WCG site!
SoGamed WCG film
A better link to sogameds demo section, right now I can only find 3 WCG demos under the "WCG 2003" category...
There are demos available on SoGamed's demo section - it's pretty slow right now though...

Hadn't thought of that, sounds plausible :)
