and i don't want to spend $2000 on a 15" laptop if i can help it. most of my computing is done on android and iOS. i only use my laptop for vpn and a few other things.
most business users have a few apps. MS office and a few corporate apps. business users are also the first ones to whine about desktop icons and shortcuts. this is a pretty good solution.
this is for the 99% of users out there who don't have hundreds of arcane applications on their computers. just the basic ones and a few games.
the desktop RSS reader seems to be a lot better than google reader. the desktop has been mostly wasted space for years now and this is a pretty good way to put it to good use
if you put civilians on the screen to kill then you need to lessen the enemies since the hardware can only do so many triangles at once. what would be the point of having objects on the screen you shoot for no reason other than to kill them that don't fight back?
dev's are limited by the hardware which is why an RPG like Mass effect 3 is limited and sends you on missions which are basically walking in a straight line and shooting stuff as it pops up
once we get a new generation with better CPU's and GPU's we will see more realism if that's what the players want. usually the fun factor trumps reality
most wars are fought for resources. afghanistan is no exception. there are $4 trillion in rare metals there.
any civilization with space travel will be able to mine all these resources from the 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of space that has no life in it
why will they come here if they have FTL travel? to steal our endless energy supply of incandescent light bulbs, coal power, internal combustion engines, and fission nuclear reactors?
i see so many so called poor people at toys r us and other stores buying all kinds of electronic devices the time for libraries is going away. with low prices and access to a lot of content there will be no need to pay for a library.
the whole idea of a library was made up in a time when books cost a very large percentage of a paycheck
and seeing how netflix and skype went, i'll be the first one to buy a handset from HTC and Samsung before they dump android just to not have it supported by developers
android is not open. the source code to the upcoming version is locked up by google. making devices on older versions means the geeks don't want them and it's a race to the bottom of me too phones.
and yelp has been accused of extorting local businesses. i went to a restaurant on monday and most of the yelp reviews were so so to bad. i was surprised when i had some really good greek food.
zagat is a much better brand than yelp and the whole crowd sourcing thing is a 50/50 crap shoot most of the time
sprint is rumored to be getting the iphone this year but no work on T-Mo. Sprint will probably steal the rest of the profitable customers, AT&T will walk away from the deal due to the lower valuation of the company and we will have 3 big carriers in the US once T-Mo files for Chapter 11 and gets sold off piece by piece.
It really wouldn't shock me at all if Apple had something to do with it as well by giving the iphone to sprint but not t-mo. 2 super carriers is bad for apple since they will have the power to dictate pricing terms. 2 big carriers and a smaller under dog is OK since they can undercut the other 2 if needed.
that's because G+ with it's circles and "following" mentality is only for bloggers to promote themselves
kind of hard to sell more routers and switches when your 10 year old products are more than enough for a lot of your customers
john chambers was never an engineer. he came up from sales

the year of linux on the desktop will finally be when Motorola will sell enough of their phones to make a dent in iOS user numbers

because itunes doesn't run on linux
i tried to run ubuntu but gave up. it's slow and annoying. i'll probably just get a mac next year to run ^nix

expect these companies to drop support for their android phones the minute the paperwork is signed

there was a story last week that if t-mo's value falls too much then there is no break up fee
