i like apple, but like a lot of companies they got lucky and rode the gadget wave of the last decade as PC growth stopped. it was John Rubenstein who made the ipod, not steve jobs.
wintel rode the PC wave as people wanted freedom from IBM Apple did the same thing as people started doing more computing away from PC's
in a few years a new tech cycle will start and apple may get left behind like MS
you just described something that has been happening for decades. in the 1800's farmers used to get 90% of a food dollar and companies that processed it got 10%. today it's the opposite. it used to be that workers got paid for most of the cost of a manufactured good. today it's marketing and MBA types that get most of the dollar
same with coders. for a lot of software products a company will pay 30% or so sales commission. big gaming hits have PR budgets higher than the development budget. that's the way of the world
the first one was cool for the 1990's when computers were still kind of new and the tech was pretty cool. come middle of the next decade they will really have to have a good story to keep people interested. special effects won't do it anymore
Skyfire browser for flash and to avoid being directed to the pay mobile site instead of the free desktop one a few apps are private browsers to hide your history from your wife some websites support idevices directly
buy game, play it. it just works. and tons of older and on sale games you can buy for cheap. and you can stream netflix on it and play DVD's. much better than buying a $300 to $400 graphics card that sounds like a jet engine and sucks up electricity. and doing it all over again in 2 years and having to buy a new computer as well because the slots are now different or something else changed.
so how do you exactly play Dance Central without Kinect? press the buttons on the controller to move? the fun is moving your body and trying to learn the moves.
same with the music games. few weeks ago i found a $15 drum set on sale and bought rock band, guitar hero and some track packs. total cost around $50. how would i play the music games without the instrument add ons? the whole fun factor is to replicate the air guitar/drums that people play when listening to music
first kinect outsells the Move by 2 to 1 or more. now they have this plan to drive even more people to Microsoft. i have both and only game on my x-box. i was actually going to buy a PS3 game yesterday, but decided against it at the last minute. crazy systems like this will mean i'll just stick to my x-box
and unless you break something really bad or cause a big problem with a SOX audit no one is going to care since it costs $30,000 or so to hire a new person
because it makes you feel smarter than the smart people who actually created the jailbreak. some people think they are so cool and smart because they can download a file and follow some simple instructions that the smart person spent months making up
we have a few databases where selected developers can do anything they want since they do most of the work there and there is no SOX requirement for those databases. every week mysterious things happen where column schemas are changed, stored procedures are updated, etc with no notification to anyone except when trouble tickets come in because some other application broke
this is so fuckin' cool. next time my 3 year old wants to watch a scooby DVD, Cars or play the Rub a Dub Rub demo i'll just boot up the PS3 to the command line and excite him with/home/var
like when if you wanted to watch TV you had to wait for the right time for a show to start and you can't pick your episode in case of re-runs
or if you had a game console you had to buy strategy guides if you got stuck. you couldn't just go to youtube and find a walkthrough
or you couldn't carry your phone around with you every you went
or look up prices on products right in the store
what's a phone line? my telephone works through time warner cable or the air
most of these are just text files. it's not like they are doing a snapshot of the exact graphics
there was a rumor that new MacBook Pro's were going to be released tomorrow. if true it could have been Apple QA catching this at the last minute
back in the 1980's?

is that why i see tons of kindles everywhere i go?

Back in the 1980's one of my friends who had cable at the time used to order pay per view and swear to his mother it was an accident
Same here. Don't ever let your kids have the ability to automatically buy something

#1 is the best and is a deal at $1.99 or $2.99
i have the new slim from the kinect bundle along with the PS3 slim
didn't buy the consoles new due to global warming already making it nice and warm in my home
x-box is simple

why would anyone put up with this?
you can rent it on vudu, itunes and other services for $5 or so
the content is hosted by level 3. it's not like netflix has a data center streaming content from one location
time warner cable $99 triple play bundle includes unlimited local and long distance calling
this is business, not grade school
you promote your products and bash the competition
it costs a ridiculous amount of money
and unless you break something really bad or cause a big problem with a SOX audit no one is going to care since it costs $30,000 or so to hire a new person
because it makes you feel smarter than the smart people who actually created the jailbreak. some people think they are so cool and smart because they can download a file and follow some simple instructions that the smart person spent months making up
and how many people are always changing minor things without change control because they feel this is their baby and they can do anything?

if it's that big a deal then maybe you should consult a lawyer?
