    There are a variety of news shows for information. There are great educational channels like Discovery and National Geographic channel and HBO has some great shows like The Sopranos.

    Last week I saw a great show about the Muslim pilgrims on their visit to Mecca. My local PBS stations has good programming. CNBC has halfway decent business news. And they have all kinds of reality shows that my wife likes to watch after a day of struggling with hospotal patients.

    Just because you don't like most of the shows doesn't mean there is nothing good on for other people.

    HBO also costs me $17 a month on Time Warner Cable. How many people would pay $17 a channel to watch TV? Even $5 a channel would be a lot.

    with businesses. Governments tax any business in their areas. It's not fair to be able to tax a business and then use the funds to provide a competing service.

    Privately owned co-ops are OK, but the costs may be prohibitive.

    An employer can force you to have a cell phone for your job just as they can require you to have a car. In fact my wife works for several companies that require a car and a higher level of auto insurance in order to take clients from them. At the end of the year you can write off all the expenses off your taxes.

    I've read anand's results before and he is alwyas benchmarking games with corporate products such as xeon, opteron and windows64. I never understood that. Except for maybe a tiny percentage of people, who uses this stuff for games? And he actually had the nerve to slam windows64 because it didn't run games as fast as normal windowsXP.

    They have other cases to decide. They also need to research the law on this before issuing a decision. Each side will present a brief with many quotes of prior case law. The judges will need to research the briefs before issuing a decision. The oral arguments are just a summation of the briefs that are submitted. Many parties will also submit friend of the court briefs.

    One of our VP's opened it and got infected. Otherwise the exchange 2000 anti-virus software is set to update itself hourly and found all the infected emails. Most of the file types that it travels in are already blocked by us and we only had to add zip's to the list. I did lose a few hours scouring smtp logs trying to figure out the source of the internal infection though.

    Anyone who runs servers that only support POP3 and IMAP is crazy since it's up to the users to update their AV software. You need a SMTP gateway in this case to scan all traffic for viruses.

    Why would you use a PDC on linux in a winnt 4 enviroment when it's the BDC's that handle the logons and most of the work? The PDC accepts changes to the database and replicates it to the BDC's.

    Time Warner is offering a Tivo like service for $8.95 a month. That is $107.40 a year. Compare that with the costs of Tivo and the service or even building and upgrading your own PC to be a DVR. If you upgrade every few years, the Time Warner service is very cost competative and pain free of spending hours trying to configure whatever you build.

    I take it you have never used MS Exchange. It's a client setting, but you can set MS Outlook to request delivery and read receipts.

    Do you work in the government? When I did I couldn't believe the amount of paper that was used and piled on people's desks. When I went to private industry the first thing I noticed was the lack of personal laser printers and desks free of piles of paper. At my company 90% of work is done through a CRM/ERP application and we are going more and more paperless every month.

    The latest paperless project is electronic faxing through zetafax.

    Long term VOIP is the way to go and I can see the traditional phone number going the way of the DoDo bird. People will find others through directories such as those on IM. That is why MS is so big on Passport. They know that in the future he who controls the directory controls everythng.

    First there is Itanium with a new instruction set. Second compatibility. Who would buy the new CPU if there isn't any applications for it? Who would write apps if there are no CPU's to take advantage of the power?

    While I'm against downloading and sharing of music I think that this will really screw the music companies in the long run. One of the first rules of business is not to make your cusotmers your enemy. There is a percentage that only steals and never buys, but a lot of people who download end buying the CD. This may piss them off enough that they may look to other forms of entertainment or look at used CD's.

    I know what you mean. The people who learned to install the OS the MS way off the CD and not through the HP Smartstart or the Dell Server Assistant that does everything for you. You tell them to use the software provided and they don't know what you mean.

    When a company goes BK, the creditors own everything and either divide the spoils or it gets liquidated at auction. Most likely someone bought the rights to the software for pennies on the dollar. You will need to check the records at the federal or state BK court where the action was filed. Since there may be service fees involved to search online, you may have to visit the court and search yourself.

    If this thing works over telecommunications circuits then it's illegal to use it for gambling. The law is decades old and not something that was made up for the internet.

    The article said that he is marketing this to kids buying junk on ebay I guess. But all the kids that bought DVD's from me paid me by money order if they didn't have a credit card. What use is this invention going to have? You need some form of identification to make sure that the right person gets the money.
