    my car has a USB port. i connect my iphone and can play music from the phone or streamed from one of the many services. at the same time it charges the phone so that if i'm using a navigation app at the same time it doesn't run down my battery

    what does an android phone do in a car that an iphone doesn't?

    and amazon is not? their warehouse workers are suing them now because amazon makes them wait 30 minutes in line after their shift ends for a security check. they work in 100 degree heat in the warehouse so amazon can save some money on cooling bills

    i was going to buy my wife a MacBook Air and went to look at it. bought a MBP because the Air's screen is a lot worse

    same with Wintel laptops. you need to touch it. i use a Lenovo for work and would never buy it for myself because of the crappy touchpad. worst touchpad i have ever used

    paper specs don't make the product

    the games aren't PS4 quality like shadowgun, but the console is $99 and the games are only a few $$$ each. does it really matter that you can't see the individual droplets of blood flying off dead people? who cares?

    have you ever seen the pre and after photochop photos of models, porn stars and body builders?
    skin blemishes, big asses, small tits, and no muscle mass magically vanishes. all the photos you see in magazines are fake and photoshopped to appeal to people's dreams of what is real. that takes expensive software like photoshop

    it just has to start stealing some low end users that don't need all the features of photoshop

    it won't be overnight, but over a few years this will hurt adobe as the low end clones get better as they attract more users. including people who pirate photoshop for low end work

    the stereo in my honda CR-v has a USB port. i plug in my iphone 5 and it plays from the device and from the different radio apps. it can also play from a USB stick.

    what's the point of a hard drive?

    modern tape drives are faster than disks and a lot more reliable

    that's because cars broke down a lot and doing the work yourself saved a lot of money

    modern cars will go a hundred thousand miles before a $350 service to replace some worn out parts. and even more before real components start to fail. no reason to learn to fix a car anymore except for the very basics. waste of time.

    as far as GUI, my Honda CR-V has a nice GUI to show me the speed, mileage, and other data. Google and some of the other data fiends are going into the wrong direction with apps that try to bombard you with useless data

    first it was car DVD players with LCD screens
    then navigation
    now infotainment systems

    these are normally $2000 upgrades on top of the most expensive models. these are huge profit upsell for what are essentially fairly cheap and old tech. MP3 players were around 15 years ago. it doesn't take a lot of CPU power to play an MP3 and fast forward the songs

    Netflix and others use what's called a CDN, content delivery network. they have servers inside the ISP's networks with the content. you never actually stream from the internet.

    YouTube is all inside Google's infrastructure so anything you stream from youtube you use your ISP's internet backbone. I think Amazon is the same way since its glitchy for me as well.

    this is why i stream all my content from Netflix and itunes. they use a CDN and i get the best quality and performance.

    Then license it to chip makers, electronics companies, apple, samsung, etc

    Find a sales guy with good contacts and let him sell
    Almost every major product these days licenses thousands of patents from tiny start ups like yours for different things

    cars, breakfast cereal, video games are all about the same no matter the brand you buy. that's why the amount spent marketing them dwarfs the engineering budgets. iphones and samsung galaxies are pretty close.

    basically any product where the competition makes the same thing that is not very different from yours, you have to spend a lot on marketing. investing in engineering in this case is usually a waste of resources since most of your potential customers won't care

    the whole point of tech in the military is to shorten the decision making cycle. most times you don't know where the enemy is, so you have scouts looking for him. once they sight the enemy it has to be reported to the highest levels command so that the general and everyone below him has a clear picture of the battle.

    in the old days it was done by radio and scouts on feet and wheels. now its done by drones, cameras and the data is networked to everyone. this allows you to make decisions where to attack faster.

    since the humans in BSG were so far behind the cylons technologically, they should have been exterminated in the first few episodes. but you need lots of episodes to make money and the good guys to win to make people watch

    scientifically it was a dumb show. robots using eyes instead of heat, sonar, radar and other sensors to find humans hiding on the planet and out in space
