Conducted by polling firm Zogby International, the survey asked 2,100 adults whether they would support a law that 'prohibits minors from purchasing ultraviolent or sexually violent video games without parental consent.'

I mean come on people when you lump a first person shooter in with games that allow you to rape people of course you are going to get the results you are seeking. That is the issue with polls like this.
Do you support equal rights for women and street gangs looting and pillaging your neighborhood?
A poll will have any question you want answered your way if you phrase it correctly.
Can a boxcutter manufacturer be held accountiable if some kid kills another kid on the playground because its a weapon? Not something that thousands and thousands of warehouse workers and home owners use everyday? Just because it CAN be used as a weapon?
Well using that logic can someone sue Ford because Fords knows for a fact that some people drive while drunk, yet they still provide cars to anyone as long as they can produce the money?
At this rate with the yahoo's in office, we will be looking to do this exact same thing in the United States soon. This will be a police state with the secret MPAA and the RIAA double private secret police.
We installed a Telrad PBX system with VoIP, 30 VoIP phones for sales people around the country, and 85 hardwired in the building.
The PBX now sits in a 19" rack, along side the rest of the servers. Its console is web based for programming, its just another thing in the data center, if changes need to be made a request comes into the IT dept now rather then an outside consultiant.
This will just last just long enough till someone cracks the copy protection that Tivo and netflicks agree on. Then the MPAA will come down with the iron fist and all bets will be off and it will just be a memory like Divx DVD's are.
So its a nice idea but it will not last longer then 4 weeks till its cracked and ppl are back to buying plastic disks...
The best way to stop SPAM is to find the person(s) that are sending and post their personal information on the web. Everything email address, phone numbers, cell phone numbers, home address, business address, dogs name... everything there is... and let vigilante justice take over from there...
I mean come on, if only.5% of the people (s)he sent out spam to call his cell phone and leave a nice voicemail, everyday, all day, he will start to know what it is like to be harassed and for it to cost him money out of his pocket and the grief that he caused so many...
When someone asks me for a good gaming machine, I suggest a custom rig... Put it together yourself and have many less problems then any thing you get from Dell...
But for those that need me to come by and install a USB mouse for them I suggest, Alienware, hell yea it cost more... but worth every penny if you can't/won't/don't want to build your own rig...
If MS is involved, is it going to be just another paper tiger giving corps a false sense of security, because someone did a 'security bootcamp' and can pass a test. Even if there is no real world experance to back him up, just like most MCSEs I've meet in the past 10 years?
"All software should pass valadation processes"
Yea all fine and dandy until someone like me writes a small patch for an open source project, I have neither the time, inclination or resources ($$$) to have my patch certified by 'experts' that have gotten their position by appointment of the BSA, MS, or were just next in line on the cival service exam?
I don't know anymore... places other then the US are looking better and better each day....
Anyway I worked the last one with Montag and the rest of the goons. The problem with working the con or any con for that matter is you just don't get to catch any of the speakers, that you really want to or go to any events that you really want to. Its nice and all but do you really want to work the con, pay to get in, pay for transport, pay for the hotel and not really see what your intrested in?
It seems kinda stupid to me. Not sure if I'm gonna work this one this time.
This is gonna become more and more frequent as the lawsuits pile up. Without having to get real warrents and go thru a real legal process, these harrassment tactacts will continue costing normal people lots of time, money and agravation.
At this point it should be made very easy for this woman to sue the RIAA, but without the resources of a large corp. it is just going to seem like an impossiable task for her. Thus the lawsuits from the RIAA will just continue with the harassment and scare tactics.
What is a gov agency doing having open ports on their firewalls anyway?
Honestly issuing visa's is just way to importiant to trust to a closed OS with known security flaws, with at least one major one a month.
MS is so entrenched in the gov now that its kind of scary, that one day a order might come down to homeland security that some town is nothing but terrioriests and should be arrested, then taken to cuba. Meanwhile some hacker in the assend of the planet wiring a virus to gain entry to the gov systems is laughing his ass of at Ma and Pa being taken to a Marine base in another country.
Doing some tech work in Brooklyn, NY. I got a call from a small company (3 machines in a business run out of a apartment).
Well one of the machines was making funny sounds. I heard the machine when I arived and it sounded like a wire was caught in the fan. I opened the case and about 10 very large and nasty roaches ran out, there were about 20 dead ones inside the case.
It seems the 80mm fan in the back got pushed in an left a nice hole in the case, which the 2 childern in the house used to put food they didn't want to eat.
I refused to clean the machine out, and told them what they had to do, I got outta their as soon as I could, trying not to vomit thinking about the roach guts on the CPU fan.
Its about the things that seems normal and everyday.
Right now video games are in almost every home. So 50 years from now the kids that are sitting playing video games will be the ones running this place. Thus it will be more pop to sit in front of your gamming rig and just as acceptiable as watching TV and playing music.
When will the CPU race finish? Will it ever?
Why? are you in some kinda rush for it to finish? Myself I'm just waiting on the hardware to play catch up with the CPU market.
Faster clock speeds are really nice but with out the rest of the hardware really supporting it, what is the point? Okay I get a few frame rates faster on my newest FPS but I want full digital movies that put me in the action, that will be be much more entertaining.
Oh well planning my next shopping trip to pick up the a few 2100+ AMDs so I can have a dual machine at home now for next to nothing.
I block most web based email systems... I have to... not because I want to be a a$$hole to my users, Its because no matter how many memos, emails, yelling at them...
They are downloading virus' to the network and causing me grief. Because then everyone get involved, and it becomes a huge mess just because someone wants to send something that should be done from home anyway?
Adult users, corp users should know better.. but i've been doing this for many years now, they act and treat the systems just like children... There are a few good ones don't get me wrong, for the most part they got from 35 years old back to being a giddy teen with a crush on someone...
So yes as a matter of fact I do think companies and admins should know what is going on at a users desk, it will save a lot of time and money for the company... and folks that's what's its about...
If a user bitchs (Like the one last week did) well I dont' have a computer at home, point there cheap ass to ebay.... and keep your personal crap where is belongs at home.
I really miss Taco.... Who thought this was a good idea?

She should be on death row by Monday morning.
Actually the last HOPE was 2006. It is held every 2 years.
Mrs. Kathy Glick-Weil,
Thank you, for being a citizen. I wish more Americans would be more like you.

Logic like this is unreal.
At this rate with the yahoo's in office, we will be looking to do this exact same thing in the United States soon. This will be a police state with the secret MPAA and the RIAA double private secret police.
Are the good times back?
Yes they are just not for the USA. Its a good time for India and China, with cheap ass CEO's CFO's CTO's, all outsourcing.
I really do not see any 'good times' ahead for IT ppl in the US.
I would check out some of the pannels, there is some really great information there...
I could only go to a few of them, about 1/3 of what I wanted to see, so this is really nice to be able to hear the ones that I missed...
It would be nice to see a full DVD set come out also...

WIFE??? Hmmmm this is /. You mean there is someone to help a geek and his p0rn out?
Nah... your talking about vaporware...
Now I can transfer gigs of p0rn from my server in my home office to my laptop in my bedroom quicker, for when it is really needed.
Hey Montag sup man...

Its obvious that entire ecomnies can be forced to collapse with a woman - American Express Card and shoe factory warehouse outlet....
When will the maddness stop!!!!
