One of the projects I am working on at home with my boys, is to develop a table-top RPG. There are many simple and fun examples already available to help with ideas. Though we are prepared to do lots of work in developing and testing. Still, our few session working on this have been a blast. Exploring the options and ideas is a lot of fun on its own.
It's kind of a bummer to hear this abou Big Huge Games. The only game I play (occasionally) anymore is Rise of Nations. I thought they did good with that game.
I'm probably not in the average aside from places like Slashdot, but I had upgraded the 160GB HDD in my netbook to a 32GB SSD.
I've got about 10GB of free space yet. I spend most of my time on the netbook, working on projects, writing code, surfing the web, email, and even some photo editing. But I store all my files on another PC on my home LAN.
Even with most of my activities being text-based, I can still see where the meager 10GB may be a bottle neck for me. But for many things such as audio files or other media, I use a couple of flash cards for additional storage.
Interesting though how several years ago I had called the police several times about teenage kids hanging out in a group at the edge of the apt. building property. They would sit there smoking and swearing at each other, and would try to pick fights with other kids walking home from the school.
As my kids were outside playing in the building's park space, I had asked the kids to leave. With no resolve, I called the police several times over the next few days. Nothing. Until one day I said that the kids were smoking something, and had tossed down a baggy or cigarette celophane. Within 2 minutes there were 3 cops on site questioning the kids.
Bullshit. There are plenty of people who know what privacy is and still respect it. You may not hear about them often, because, well, they're employing their privacy.
Gnome 2 was very easy to learn my way around with, and made transitioning to Linux even easier. Also the OpenSUSE community has been very friendly and helpful when I've had to ask questions.
My only dissapointment is that Gnome 2 has been dropped for Gnome Shell in 12.1. And on the Mate-Desktop.org boards, I saw a message saying that Mate development for OpenSUSE may be dead. (Please let this not be true!)
Though, up to a year ago, I was one of the XP holdouts. Maybe I'll have to stick with 11.4 running Gnome2 until I find something I want to switch to.
A few years ago, 2007 iirc, National Geographic labeld the Persian Gulf as the Arabian Gulf on one of their maps or something. I remember reading about them getting some angry comments from readers about playing political games.
In Wisconsin the monthly income cutoff was at $248 in 2003. I was even told by the public defenders office that even owning a car is enough to disqualify you. The state will still appoint a lawyer to you but they'll then garnish your wages at something like 30% before taxes.
A few years ago I was working at a pizza shop and my boss asked me if I knew of this security software package for erasing data off the HDD.
A week or so later, while taking the garbage out at night, I saw a PC in the dumpster. Tossed it in my car, and when I got home I booted it up. Most of the data was cleared out, but I came across a folder for the software he was talking about. I decided that he must have had a reason for wanting this, so I poked around.
In the one of the temp internet files folder, I found cached pages, images, and video clips of gay porn. This was too good. As I was leaving work the next day, I wrote the domain name of one of the sites (some Latino site) on a sticky and left it on the counter. The next day, he and his wife come in and she picks up the sticky and asks what is this. I've rarely ever seen someone go so pale and red at the same time.
I recall seeing a documentary or news show on the oldest tree alive and was located in an aboriginal territory in Australia. The location wasn't being shared as people were afraid of vandalism and tourism damaging the tree and surrounding area. If I remember correctly, this was in the late 90s, so it's possible others have been found which are older.
Still though, very interesting. And this news here is a bit sad, seeing a tree of this age burn away.
P.S. Having grown up in a small town in rural Wisconsin, I always thought that the term 'Tree Hugger' referred to the boys on the winning football team, with their Camaros and Trans Ams, wrapping around trees and telephone poles after their big wins.
My father purchased a Kodak point-and-click throw-away digital camera, and not being very tech savy, installed the Kodak image software that came with it. The software hijacked all image formats on his PC and would revert file associations when manually changed.
He swore he would not trust or use Kodak again. IMO regardless of their history or innovations, they sabotaged themselves in many ways. And deserve what is coming to them.
But cyberdude, this cyber network is the new battlefield. Haven't you heard we're in a cyberwar now?
I thought those Fusion Centers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fusion_center, were already doing this sort of thing?
"How long have you been in IT?"
"Four foot, two."

Hahah, I get it!
After all your trips through the TSA chechpoints, you're left with a small bag of peanut butter.

It's a polite way of using another slang phrase, 'Rim Job'.

OpenSUSE user here on 11.4 with Gnome 2.

Ive merged the two together, but they've become a bit jumbled in my mind.
If you're not a child, you should think of hiding.

Wasnt that the same group that the FBI setup as a honeypot to catch terrorists?
I don't think it'd be at all inappropriate. After all 'Power attracts the corrupt'.
Mirror Mirror on the wall who's the greatest liar of all.
fAOLbook already has.

George Bush Sr., 41st President of the US, openly called for a 'New World Order' in front of Congress on Sept. 11, 1991.

I made sure to tell all of my co-workers.
Thanks for the link and the info in previous post. Very very interesting.

Yes, I still happily use my MP3 player. My Sansa e270 doesn't spy on me or plot against me.

Yes! and you can even touch the colors, feel their textures, and taste their hue.
