Wonder woman was a great sci-fi babe of that era. Another babe was Erin Grey as Wilma in Buck Rogers. She still looks great and is still the subject of much lust (there is a yahoo group devoted to her). She signs photos at the sci-fi cons (I need to go to one). Pam Hensley was another babe on Buck Rogers.
Everything a teenage geek could love - science fiction and space babes. It would seem the producers of these shows knew well what their target audience wanted.
As a hormone infused teenage geek and connoisseur of all things science fiction at the time, I really enjoyed the show on several levels.
First, this show had some great looking leading ladies. There was Jane Badler as Diana, leader of the aliens. You wouldn't believe how bad I wanted her to come to my house and eat mice. I kept asking myself what I would/could do to get on Diana's good side so I could date her. Sure she was an alien intent on world domination so she could harvest humans for food, but maybe she could "reform" with my help. This is one lizard lady I wanted to meet. There were other aliens equally attractive. I didn't care that they were lizards down deep. Faye Grant wasn't too bad either.
Joking aside, the V mini-series movies was innovative and interesting. It's true that the series that followed lacked, but that was the case with most TV sci-fi series of that era as they just did not have the production values/capabilities that we have today.
But to diss the whole V story indicates that you do not have an appreciation for sci-fi in general and the efforts of that particular period. There is nothing wrong with that per se, but it invalidates your criticisms, which is very much in the minority Or you are showing both your arrogance and ignorance.
At that particular time, we didn't have the quantity nor the quality of science fiction shows and movies that we have today. They were few and far inbetween. Today we have a whole summer of sci-fi with advanced high quality special effects and good stories. Not to mention all this has gone over to TV where we see the same improvements in sci-fi TV shows.
So before you call V "shit" understand both the era and context that it appeared in.
One could argue that this show was made in an era that didn't have the same political sensitivities that we have today.
Beyond that, when you're fighting aliens that want to eat you anything goes. And "rag tag" "irregular" forces fighting an overpowering alien presence has been (and continues to be) a plot device for sci-fi movies.
It just doesn't matter to audiences as long as the movie is good.
You know, I still listen to NPR because it's the best of what's on the FM band (at least in my area). The rest of the band is clear channel crap.
It's just when they have their fund drives I don't feel guilty about not donating. I say to myself "I don't care if they go dark, all that would do is free up spectrum for LPFM."
I have thought about an "anti-donate" kind of drive when they shill for donations. People could send them a fax/postcard saying that they want NPR to go dark and will encourage people not to donate over the LPFM fiasco.

Thanks to intensive lobbying by NPR (They didn't want the competition) it has been effectively gutted and you won't see it in major markets anytime soon.

After doing a little research, it refers to the migration or "pump out" of the grease due to the pressure of the heatsink on the chip and the thermal cycles of turning your cpu off/on. Because the cpu and heatsink are usually different materials they will expand/contract at different rates, and thus will "push out" the grease.
Then this might create a space between the cpu and heatsink with the "pumped out" grease acting as a standoff, essentially leaving your cpu without meaningful contact with a heatsink. With AMD cpus that normally run very hot, this is deadly and your cpu will melt.
Thermal Insulating Materials, or TIMs have a much higher viscosity than grease, so that won't happen with them. Though arguably they don't do as well as grease (in the short term) in the thermal transfer of heat.
On the surface this seems like a conspiracy by those who make TIMs, but one user observed "pump out" for himself - using Artic Silver too.
If the AMD cpus had a heat spreader on them like many intel cpus do, "pump out" may not be so bad. Though it probably would happen to some degree, it probably would not be fatal.
Given the vast quantity of cpus that AMD (and intel for that matter) crank out, they probably see a steady stream of cpus burned out with grease on them been returned to them. So naturally they want to cut there losses and want people to stick with TIMs to prevent burn out.
It also could be argued that the socket A design is inherently flawed. Thermal grease as commonly known was not designed to operate under the high pressures that heatsink clamps put on cpus these days.
I have always dissed TIMs, but now I'll give it a second thought.

It's a pretty low risk material. Alot less toxic than motor oils, paint or glue. Don't rub yours eyes, lick your fingers, or eat the stuff and wash your hands promptly and you'll be fine.

Secondly, Mars did have a denser atmosphere at one time, but was probably eroded away by the solar wind. The loss of a strong magnetic field probably didn't help things either.
To prevent the erosion of some future atmosphere, you probably would need to restart the magnetic field. Maybe you could drill down to the core and plant a big bomb to restart it.
So terraforming is still (extremely) hard after all. I didn't get into the astronomical amount of energy required to do it either.
So it looks like that if you wanna live on Mars you're gonna have to strap on some airtanks.

The Caldera suit against Microsoft never went to trial -- it was settled. So the question of Microsoft's guilt had yet to be decided by a jury in a trial. Sure they looked guilty, that's my point - Microsoft looked like a corporate thug. For a background on the case see this (some of the links are dead, but the salient points are there). I doubt if there are any "smoking gun" emails with IBM as there was with Microsoft.
They are suing IBM for the same amount that they sued Microsoft for - 1 billion dollars.
