    This is a fine example of the idiocy in Silicon Valley. While the technical people there are smart as a get out, the support people in this area are dumb as fucking lamp posts. I figured this out in the first few weeks of living out there. The shipper was an idiot. Period.

    Damn! You are right... Irix runs on 128-, 256-, 512- and 1024- processor machines, potentially with terabytes of RAM. It is a supercomputer OS, not a mere lowly mainframe OS.

    Bullshit. Windows NT 4.0 for Alpha was native Alpha code. As was a pre-release version of Windows 2000 for the Alpha chippies.

    Ah, but everyone knows the Linux kernel is a spaghetti code hack. Just look at all the versions of it and patches for it out there. If Microsoft, Sun, Apple or any other OS vendor released so many versions with so many problems, they would be roasted on a spit behind a jet engine on after-burners.
