How does running around shooting and blowing things up "enrich our lives and culture"?
Don't get me wrong, I used to play games - a lot. Then one day I realized what a complete total waste of time it was. There is more to life than sitting in front of a computer, getting fat, and smacking keys or diddling the joystick to get a higher score...
They opened up a warehouse store locally a little while back. I was there one day poking around in the liquidation area and they had some boxes off to the side with returned machines in them. One was a 2.4GHz HT P4 system. So I asked the guy how much, since it had no price on it. After dragging it to the front of the store and asking the store manager, he said $625. Hmmmm, says I playing stoopid, another place has the same refurbished configuration for $425. Ok says he, it's yours for $450.
When I get it home, inside the box was a 3GHz HT P4 with 1GB of RAM, 120GB HD and a DVD-R drive. WOOHOO!!!
You might want to move somewhere else, somewhere that is more advanced infrastructure-wise than Silicon Valley... My local cable provider (Rogers) gives me ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, PBS, Movie Network, Discovery, Sports and a couple of local stations all in HDTV format.
I get to watch Enterprise, West Wing, CSI, CSI: Miami, Navy NCIS, JAG, Alias, Sopranos, Deadwood, NYPD Blue, Smallville, Law & Order, Judging Amy, Fraiser, Kingdom Hospital, Without a Trace, Joan of Arcadia, Third Watch, Crossing Jordan, Cold Case, ER and a few other unknown shows all in HDTV. I hardly watch the other channels anymore because they look so bad.
After having ruined a Nikon 995 on week long rafting trip down the Colorado through the Grand Canyon, and having hiked Zion in the past, I can tell you that water proof bags do not work. You could carry a decent digital camera in a surplus ammo container, but that can be rather bulky - you would need a backpack for that. The cheapo waterproof cameras that you buy at Walmart cannot do Zion any justice. You really need a tripod with a camera where you can control exposure settings to get good shots.
WASTE is a software product and protocol that enables secure distributed communication for small (on the order of 10-50 nodes) trusted groups of users.

He's just pointing out that "the people of this democratic republic" have their heads up their asses. And, thus, are no better than the other groups of peoples that have their heads up their asses.
Just recently one of the people here decided to visit windowsblowupyermachineupdate. It told them there was an updated version of the network card driver available. So they downloaded it, and the various other updates, the system rebooted and they no longer had network access. I had to download the real driver from the manufacturers web site, clean out the microsoft lump'a'doodoo and install the proper one. Wasted about half an hour on this.
1) It flagged perfectly good emails as spam. 2) It massacred HTML emails, or plain text emails with HTML clips, to our tech support email addresses, having web products, it killed tech support dead. 3) It made retrieving email via IMAP useless for remote staff, on a 100 mbps network, it would take over 10 minutes to show all the headers in a mailbox with about 300 emails in the Inbox. 4) Backing up my mailbox to PST via Outlook took over 45 minutes instead of the usual 3-4 minutes.
IHMO, hardcore gamers will declare these machines to be "gay" and no one will buy them...

Check out some of the GTA resellers first. www.infonec.com has better prices most of the time than NCIX.

Try and find some employees of the potential employer that you can talk to informally over a beer. You'll get the real poop that way...

In the future, when the whole world is at one economic level, who will we outsource to then?
Have you tried Googling for reseting the root password on Solaris?
Habeeb: Yes Gupta, what is it now?
Gupta: This new dress code is not making me very happy.
Habeeb: What is it that isn't making you not very happy in the new dress code, Gupta?
Gupta: Oh Habeeb, I now have to wear a blue turban instead of a white one.
Habeeb: Oh good gracious Gupta, what are we going to do?
PS. By modding this down, you agree that you are a fag.
Habeeb: Yes Gupta, how can I be helping you?
Gupta: Habeeb, how do I spell IBM?

Tried that POS from GFI.

Dropped kicked that POS real fast.
