    Yea, I'm thinking anchored in our gravity well is the answer. If time travel is possible it will most likely be through traveling through time forwards or backwards and not an instant jump. Assuming all things constant, traveling backwards in time should allow you to have a constant velocity that matches the earth, though you may want to slowly ramp up the speed of your travel as two quick of a change could send your flying.

    And easy way to explain the Monty Hall problem is.
    Lets say there are 100 doors, you pick 1 door. Then someone with knowledge of right/wrong doors opens 98 other wrong doors. There is only 2 doors left the one you picked and probably what is the correct door. Would you switch?

    In reality "morality" breaks down to "What would provide a positive outcome to society."

    If one truely believes, especially when they have scientific evidence to back them up, that a decisions like mandating insurance would have a positive effect, they aren't being "evil", they are just making a decision that some may not like.

    Could the scientific evidence be wrong? Sure, but even still, doctors thousands of years ago, drilling holes in your head weren't "evil", they were just wrong.

    That's what I meant. Joomla is more difficult to customize/program. But the reason for this is to make it easier to hand over to someone with no programming abilities to maintain in the long run.

    The end maintainer shouldn't be altering the templates either. They can alter the articles, choose amount a list of templates, and alter the placement of modules.

    Yes, while I prefer to work in straight PHP, often the point of working in Joomla is end user customization.
    With a little bit of training and monkey can update the site/articles. With your typical PHP solution someone familiar with PHP has to maintain the site.

    Though there are plenty of instances of stupidity in trademark laws as well. I almost fear that if software patents fall by the wayside, these same companies will start trademarking the look and feel all their software inventions.

    No, they're for counterfeiting and reporting back to the treasury department on the Presidents actions/physically threatening the president, because the treasury really runs this country. /Or some crazy conspiracy theory, I can't remember which. //As conspiracy theories goes, it is one of the better ones.

    What especially bothers me is when I purposefully don't have my keys for some reason. It will bother me the entire day as I keep rediscovering I don't have my keys. :(

    While its a silly response I think the 60-120 locations is probably a valid issue on why GameFly has so many broken disc. NetFlix generally ships out my disc from a location within 100 miles. GameFly on the other hand I understand has very few locations and will generally send your disc from across the country.

    Well we use about 29 million megawatt hours in the US. Newer windfarms produce between 2 and 5 megawatt hours per tower. so 10 million towers. Its doable, but insane :)

    Windfarms produce during day and night. While they may have more power at certain times than others windfarms across the country networked together could meet our total production needs. While yes, they would be producing more energy than necessary, there is nothing dangerous about disconnecting a group of windfarms if we are producing too much power. Or you could use the extra energy to produce hydrogen for use in various fuelcell applications.

    Generally 1-5 cents per answer. Most take no more than 2 minutes. So I really quality turker could make $1.50 or more an hour.

    Yes, but a subpoena isn't intended to break your fourth amendment rights. You can contest a subpoena, this person didn't have a chance to contest the subpoena because his ISP was subpoenaed not him. A subpoena has a much much lower burden of proof than a search warrant.

    A Subpoena is NOT the same as a Search Warrent. A subpoena is a demand that one testified in court.

    Agreed/Disagreed. I think this would be amazing for code reading/debugging/getting familiar with code. Actual coding? Yea, it doesn't seem very conducive to a lot of typing, but then again a lot of coding nowadays is about putting pieces together, so this makes sense. As long as there is a way to quickly switch to a more traditional view when you need it, it would be a huge win.

    I'm pretty sure the airport chargers are just connected to AC power, I seriously doubt they are connected to any computers, least not networked ones, that would just be dumb. But then again, its possible.

    The problem yesterday was that the servers thought it was the 29th, but the consoles refused to accept such nonsense. In 2012 it really is a leap year. I guess the reverse could happen, but then you'd just change the date to something else and you'd be alright.

    Yes, the fuel/energy companies of today are used to long term payoffs. They will be the ones making these investments. Assuming there aren't liability potentials with Fusion (insurance liabilities are whats really hampering nuclear, and the feds inability to see into the future isn't helping). These companies will be investing. But don't expect them to invest until the science is proven either.

    This is it exactly. I haven't been willing to add strangers yet, but the majority of people on Mafia Wars have the required 500 friends, I mean seriously, 500, nobody actually knows that many people.

    Eh, 220k a year is pretty small. A lot of what these guys are paid so much for is "who they know". They host dinner parties and snob in order to strike deals. That would be tough to do on 220k a year. Though I'm sure 2.2M probably is more than necessary.
