Actually, I hadn't looked at the root article at that point in time yet. And yes the root article really isn't sensationalist (at least in that one article). For a site thats intention is to provide antiporn info to parents it does a decent job. The Kotaku, and many other news site aren't being very balanced though. The original poster though was trying to make a point that sensationalism wasn't bad if the message was accurate, and I simply disagree.
Doesn't matter, your still "selling" an idea. Our society has come to tolerate the idea that arguing to win is the only thing that is important. Either way this is quickly delving into an argument in and of itself. You have valid points, but my original idea was that such sensationalism is bad even if a part of your message is accurate.
Yes it is, simply because sensationalism in and of itself is wrong. Selling an idea without providing concrete evidence for and against is classic car salesmanship in its essence. We as a society have put up with such blatant misinformation for so long, and certainly shouldn't put up with it from our clergy. Well given if we didn't 99% of churches wouldn't exist. But thats another story.
Hell with our corporate domain setup for some damn reason if a user logs into a computer they never have before it always says they are a pirate. Its kinda funny the reactions you get from new employees.
The idea is if you flashed jackpot consciously you would react positively. But they can't legally flash jackpot for no reason. So if you flash jackpot unconsciously you might have a similar but subdued reaction.
You can't be brainwashed but your moods can be altered. There have been numerous test that show that flashes of dramatic images can cause emotional changes. There was a very recent experiment that showed the name of a nagging loved one can cause people to do worse on test when that name is only flashed for a brief 1/4th second to slow for the person to consciously detect. We do unconsciously see things, the ability to "control" people though that is doubtful, the ability to alter their train of thought is possible.
Strangely enough advertising is one of those things no one not even the buyer wants to be free. If it is free there are two many ads and no one pays attention to your ad. Advertisers understand this and would refuse to buy from an advertising company where the ads were too cheap or there were simply too many ads.
Well thats how the US built up its currency, but backing it by gold. Once it became popular enough they no longer needed to back it and people used it anyways. Given there are a lot of third party L$ traders and people willing to buy from third parties that offer better prices than SL themselves does, its not impossible the LL could just stop someday and the economy could continue.
Yea, the main argument is that constitutionally IRS only has power to govern foreign trade, therefor you should only have to pay income tax on foreign trade or foreign earned income. Either way thats the idea among many groups. Though many groups try to say all in all income tax is illigal, thats a bunch of bayhoie.
I wonder what would happen if you built your own far off grid community that all had solar installations. I'd imagine you would have to do more than just install wires. Would be an interesting experiment.
Thats only true for power you don't use. Meaning if you pump 200Kwh into the grid each month and withdrawl 210Kwh you pay retail price on 10Kwh. Now if you withdrawl 190Kwh you receive only wholesale prices for the 10Kwh. So as long as you generate approximately the same as you use you will be alright. But there is no reason that the electric company should expected to pay you more than it pays other electric generators for power... The difference in retail and wholesale prices is what covers the cost of line installations and repair on public ways as well as loss of electricity over transmission distances. So the fact that you can pay nothing (except maybe a small metering fee) for generatoing 200Kwh and withdrawling 200Kwh even though some of that will get eatten by line loss in the grid is a savings to you.
I've not talked with many people who are happy with pay-as-you-go.
I know this isn't exactly what your talking about but with the FSU tie my employer has we get SPSS (normally a $900+ purchase) per computer for $25 a year. You simply can't beat that with a dirty stick. And each year we get the newest version if we want. Of course thats just what FSU gets because it buys in such bulk, most universities pay close to $100 a year. Now MS.. thinking that near third world markets will pay $15 a month = $180 a year for office when its highly pirated in such places is laughable at best.
Your VC games are locked to your account that is registered to the shop. So currently if you're Wii gets a replacement due to warranty concerned they transfer your account and you can redownload or put them on SD cards to transfer them. So the issue there is will Nintendo let you transfer your shop account, my guess would be yes, assuming you unassociate your account on the original Wii. I don't see why they wouldn't as it could cost them a lot of sales from people not wanting to lose their stuff.
They could at least have had the decency to say "we're considering changing the wii hardware" ahead of time so people could make an informed decision rather than get pwned after spending approx $400 on the system, controllers, and games.
You do realize every single one of those games and controllers will work with the future version. So at most you might have to rebuy the $250 base console, which by the time the new version is out could cost $200 or less.
Actually in the US we do not have a true loser pays rule. Partially for this very reason, no one would dare sue a large corporation if they had to pay their fees. Currently any loser pays fees rules are completely up the the judge, and I've never heard of an individuals forced to pay a corporations fees outside of filing fees.
Yea you can send invites in google calendar, but the "availability" features aren't there yet. BUT in their "compare editions" page http://www.google.com/a/help/intl/en/admins/editio ns.html it states that "Shared Calendar Resources" are available in the purchased edition. I havn't tried it so I can't really comment.
I don't know, when I read the original response about certification, I knew that this is exactly what they meant.

A fluke, people stopped visiting his site eventually such a thing can not go on for very long.

working under MS.
Just got this horrible image of the scene from Office Space with the boss having sex with his GF. Except with Ballmer.

Yes, but if you lost would you be forced to pay millions in their lawyers cost?

As well the loss of mail merge style features in Doc (people are still calling it writely??).
I never really expect to see full macro capabilities, but a simple mail merge, even from google speadsheet would be nice.
Uhhh, yea you can purposefully make syntax cryptic in ANY language. Get back to me when you have a point.
