Exactly, labor and the price of XP makes the difference here moot. Of course as I stated this is especially true for low end systems. You can get a decent low end system WITH 17 flat panel for 350 now. $100 labor (what I charge minimum to build a system (meaning a prebuild barebones and a few extras) and install an OS) plus XP home $81 would be half your cost. Leaving you $169 to buy the parts..

Hell even their color schemes are ugly (to us), lucikly they generally get Westerners to do the graphics for their games intended for the West. Though latly I've come around to actually liking some of the newer anime graphics.

"Blood Rain Exclusivly for the Wii"

I know Nintendo isn't expecting many adult titles.. But there will and should be some, and with the special control system most titles will be exclusives.. This might not turn off fans or even buyers, I'm just afraid of it turning away the mature game producers.

"By letting the gaming community vent now about the name, they will be less distracted as launch titles for the system are announced and initial reports about what it's like to play the games begin to come in."

Just so you know, the gamecube already uses a custom disc size 8cm and their games are resonably cheap. A 12cm disc isn't going to be that hard to produce. The slot loading player could possibly accomidate regular sizes CD/DVDs. The current speculation is simply a DVD player dongle like the xbox has now. No biggie really.

The Katrina story does show an interesting advantage our system has in combating these problems though. The fact that most of the military (the underlings atlest), especially the coast guard tried to do the best they could. The coast guard didn't wait for orders and went in immiediently. The other branches waited for orders and took their time. Hopefully they will do it differently next time. In times of crisis people often do disobey orders. Our volunteer soldiers hearts ultimatly belong to the people, and most will not turn and attack civilians. Sadly our army is being automated more and more, and this could turn into a problem.

Ok the only reason I could see Microsoft pushing gaming on Vista is that somehow they are going to be getting a cut from game publishers. If Microsoft could pull this off (get game publishers to pay them for Vista versions like they do for XBOX games) it would mean huge profit for Microsoft. But somehow I don't see game publishers buying into this.. Scary thought really. Maybe they are selling the XBOX network for publishers, kinda like how the gamespy network is pushed. Except publishers arn't paying gamespy..
