You're wrong...nobody can be denied access to EMERGENCY healthcare and hospitals (all) are only obliged to get the person stable before the person is involuntary discharged.
As for being from outside the U.S., a big chunk of my family still live there...I choose to live somewhere else that's more inline with my particular point of view. That's my purrogative....you don't have to listen to my views or even take the time to retort....but you're chosing to, and that's your purrogative.
You only have a better healthcare system for those with private insurance, dumb ass!
I think you'll also find that the quality of care isn't necessarily better than many socilaist countries, either. Acccess to modern machinery, however, is quite good in the U.S.
I'm not making fun of his disease, I'm making fun of the fact he was President of the most "powerful" nation on the planet and was fading fast mentally. Doesn't that strike you as perverse?
I don't live in the U.S. anymore.....I live in Canada.....so let the insults begin;-)
BTW...the US ain't half as "free" as you think it is. Which is partly why the US government is pissed off with the liberal/socialist views of Canadians right now.
Re: kids going to school hungry...I'm not saying the Government should feed them, just that we have some pretty fundamental problems in society...and building a $5Bn aircraft carrier right now seems redundant.
Apart from the awful English in the post (why didn't Slashdot edit it?), Halon works by EVACUATING AIR!
(1) Take one lab mouse, evacuate air from surrounding area watch mouse die. (2)Repeart with Halon and your family. (3) See you on the other side
If you're seriously looking at doing this, look at more modern solutions such as FM-200.
BTW...if you can truly afford to do this housewide (and why would you?), please drop me a note with the name and number of your insurance company. Last time I built a data centre, the FM-200 system ran >$500,000. I'll admit the data centre was telco grade (and blast proof, too)...but these systems are NOT inexpensive....and if you ever activate them, refills are not cheap either.
"How else is Linksys going to distinguish itself from the rest of the Taiwanese crowd?"
Don't forget that Linksys is an Americancompany...so they're differentiating themselves from the "Taiwanese crowd" not the "rest of the Taiwanese crowd".;-)
Also, based on the analog that people like to play with things and the Linksys is an embedded computer system, then you can take that to the Nth degree and start asking Ford to provide you with the ECU firmware for your SUV, or asking LG to provide you with the firmware for the PIC microcontroller in your microwave so you can reprogram the display to say "Hello, Dave..."....and....and....get my drift?

Crickey, never realized there was that many people incaserated....and I live here (Toronto)!
I design embedded systems.....and I can tell you that the last thing you want to do is to make it even easier to reverse engineer stuff. Things are bad enough as it is;-)
Plus, if people were able to reprogram the unit, I'm not sure how that'd really help the community. You'd probably see a bunch of people doing silly "hacks" with the system and a bunch of confused users not knowing what "distribution" to run on their Linksys access point.
Did you really expect them to release proprietary intellectual property?
They complied with the GPL...they weren't required to do anything else, nor should a commercial enterpise be expected to do more if it doesn't aid their business.
Seriously, I'm holding out for the 21" laptops....at which point, I can quite happily move my home into the box it came in, and also use the behemoth to heat and light the place (ever noticed just how much light you can get off a laptop LCD?).;-)
Seriously, though...I actually own a 15.2" PowerBook....and thought that the Apple 17" PowerBook was kind of 'neat', but not necessarily very practical for many people. But this Toshiba is the Anna Nicole Smith of laptops!! (Completely stupid, overweight, and blonde....okay, maybe not the last one).
I bet that "artists" who have trouble selling their works are mostly in *favour* of the single song downloads because they understand that if you feel like eating a slice of pie, you shouldn't have to buy the whole frickin' pie. Plus I'm sure they appreciate the exposure and a little bit of revenue...very hard for amateur musicians to make *any* money whatsoever....infact, many I know look at it as a hobby and will actually spend more on equipment and getting themselves to gigs than the gigs pay.
For God's sake...if you're prepapred to spend that sort of money on hardware and that amount of time putting it all together, do the right thing and just buy a frickin' plane!
I study and grow mushrooms of various sorts. Actually quite a deep and interesting subject, and has allowed me to apply my knowledge of chemistry in a real-world application.
Being a true geek, I have machine readable humidity, temperature and light sensors too...nothing like being able to record all that stuff in MRTG;-)
Currently applying the above tech to plants too....I live in a garden-less loft, so I only have a few plants: oxsteak tomatoes, sweet red peppers, California Wonder green peppers, and a basil plant.
I've run a consulting business since '94 with a brief break as CTO of a financial software company. I've died my hair a lot over the past 10 years, but never anything too crazy (it's been blonde, and also reddish brown).
Both my tattoos and my piercings are concealed easily by business clothing. I *did* have a tongue piercing for a little while, but got rid of it.
People were always amazed that I had tattoos and piercings when they found out....I guess most people assume that people who have them will have them somewhat visibly.
I guess part of your question revolves around how you carry yourself, too. I've always been a little 'larger than life'...I think if you're not prepared to put yourself 'out there', then you might be right thinking that you could get some negative feedback.
1. Invesnt product 2. Sell product 3. Repeat (2) 4. Profit 5. Hitch a ride on Soyuz?
If I had that sort of money, I'd be there in a heartbeat. I'm one of those people who doesn't believe it unless he's seen it, so to speak.
As for NASA...meeehhhhhh! Is NASA's "approval" really relavent these days? I don't just mean the Space Shuttle disasters, but their slow-moving government oriented ways, way of accountability, etc.
Seriously, I think the Russians and Chinese are far more commited to serious space programs than us North Americans. And you know what? Good for them.
Apple has strict, legally binding contracts with the vendors who sell their systems and service parts...so I can understand them wanting to enforce the contracts (otherwise precident is set).
But, it's a shame that a young guy's business is being affected. Based on the press I've seen, he just wanted to do something cool and really wasn't just in it for the money.
But, let's face it, I'm sure BMW or Mercedes would be a little perturbed if you started building cars based on their parts and not exactly hiding the fact that many of the parts were comparible -- just the body was different;-)
And ~50% of the teams are Canadian? ;-)
Actually, don't the Canadians often win this event?

The US Government also spends a bigger portion of GDP on healthcare than countries with socialized healthcare such as Canada, too.
And yet most of you down south still have to pay exobitant healthcare fees on top fo that.
Go look that up!

Kids go to school hungry...but now there's a lovely new $5Bn aircraft carrier named after a President who'd forget his on name on occassion!
Never mind, all that free oil that the US just "liberated" in Iraq can help offset the costs.

Don't forget Apple sells something between Final Cut 4 and the free bundled iMovie: Final Cut Express ($299 from the Apple Store).
;-)
Personally, I think even Final Cut Express gives Premiere a run for its money
-psy
isn't the SRP of Premiere $699?
Also, Final Cut Pro 4 is probably more of a pro monster than the current version of Premiere, so the price difference is warranted, IMHO.
And maybe you should compare Final Cut Express ($295) with Premiere...
