Balls to that. They're paid based on how vital they are to an organization for whom they demonstrably make much, much more money than they're paid. Professional athletes are, in most cases, rather underpaid in comparison to the amount of money that they make for their bosses.
Blacks voted 88% for Kerry, it's not -that- big of a shift, and a lot of it has to do with new voter registrations, as well - new voters were pretty consistently pro-Obama.
SD cards aren't very expensive. I only have a 2GB card in my Wii and there's still plenty of room for me to download games. Mind you, I tend toward NES and SNES games more often for download, but it's still a lot of space.
Bollocks. This vegan thing is just getting out because people are just finally becoming stupid enough to try to raise their children as vegans. There is no ignorance defense regarding the fact that drunk driving is dangerous and kills people. It's impossible to legally drive and not know that.
That's the major difference. It's possible to be a fairly rational adult in most respects in the United States and still have stupid opinions regarding nutrition and doctors. When everyone knows you can't feed a kid a vegan diet, I'll buy that it's worth a 25 year sentence. Until it's something that's filtered down to retarded vegans, I don't think that's fair.
To go a bit further with it; I think that these cases are getting enough publicity (and being turned into House episodes, and etc) that this moment is starting to come very quickly.
It's because it shows a difference between the attitude he showed in the courtroom and the attitude that will make him eventually eligible for parole.
He has been resistant the entire time to say a single word about his own guilt. That is the action of a man who either thinks he did no wrong, or who knows he did wrong but thinks he is clever enough to get away with it.
If he reveals the location of the body, then it's clear that he's willing to move forward and admit that he committed murder. Which, in turn, means it's more likely for him to feel remorse and become rehabilitated.
Yes, and Medal of Honor is for pussies who don't want to go fight Nazis.
Video games exist to give you experiences that you normally wouldn't be able to get in real life without years of training or superhuman powers. Why is it that guitarists get so pissy about Guitar Hero when I never hear any space marines complaining about Metroid?
Because it's an amazing rhythm game that gives a vague impression of playing awesome guitar riffs.
In turn, playing awesome guitar riffs is one of the most bad-ass feelings in the world. There are just few things that are cooler than pulling off anything on a guitar, really.
It's basically DDR for people who don't like dancing and don't want to put in as much physical effort to play. And, of course, for people who like to rock.
Well, I don't think that I would entirely agree that Linux is always forthcoming with the reasons why it's breaking, but that's not really on topic in the least. The GGP was advocating half-built Linux systems which would be 'finished' by the end user. Which is ridiculous, and certainly -sounds- frustrating, at least.
"I know half of my advertising is wasted, I just don't know which half." John Wanamaker.
The point is that there is no direct correlation psychologically that we can see between the two, but they obviously do the trick in some way. Be it familiarity or awareness or actually getting the consumer to buy shit. Things which are advertised tend to be purchased more than things which are not advertised.
Mind you, I don't have a direct study backing that one up, but I think that Coca-Cola is still outselling Jones Soda Co.
And if you can't see the difference between frustratingly banging your head against a keyboard to get Linux to run properly and learning something new every day, then you're not really seeing with very clear eyes, I don't think.
Frustrating the end user so that they think that the system is nothing but a frustrating, annoying piece of crap is not a very good way to get people to work with it. Especially not the people who give up quickly because they would rather be trying to figure out how to get potable water instead of how to compile a web browser.:(
But what help do you get out of it just because it's OSS? I don't see any solid argument there at all. Simply because your software is open source, you are learning more?
It's the 'distro' that matters here. It's how the software is aimed at them and how they help the users to learn to use that software. I don't see how that is easier or harder on OSS or proprietary software.
How come we can see the laser beams? And why are they so freaking slow? I'm not sure about the seeing part, but they're instantaneous in Firefly.
How come we can hear in the vaccum of space? You can't, in Firefly.
How come we only have inertia when dramatic events occur? One place where FF is a bit lacking, sadly.
How come nearly every alien species lives in an earth-like atmosphere? No aliens in FF.
How come slowing down is infinitely easier than speeding up? Not something I noticed on FF.

I'm a bit of a fanboy, mind you, but if you haven't given Firefly a chance, you may want to. There's a flaw or two here and there, but overall its rather incredibly polished.
All right, I'm going to go off in a nerdly direction over this, but...
Energy weapons were rare - mostly used by the Alliance. That's backed up in a number of instances - the only actual lasers we ever see are the Lassiter (the one you refered to, fron Trash) and the one used by Rance Burgess in Heart of Gold.
The weapons we got used real bullets - that's backed up by the chat Mal has with Jayne in Objects in Space (Something about soft lead not being able to pierce the hull, and Vera being the only gun he has that could do it.)
I think the noise that the great-grandparent is referring to is the whirring noise that the guns make as they 'Power up', so it seems. I think that's most likely the anti-recoil device powering up, however it happens to work. It's never addressed, but it certainly fits the evidence.
Yeah, you wouldn't want something untoward to appear on the screen while you're watching a video of a man killing himself. That might get you in trouble.
If Sony were the only company that sold gaming consoles, or held a supermajority of the market, and they actively fought to keep it that way, then they would be in a monopoly position.
Actually, then they'd be an illegal monopoly. They don't have to be fighting to keep it that way in order to be a monopoly - There are multiple legal ways to maintain a monopoly in American Capitalism, and others can probably give you better examples than I.
Sorry to be pedantic, it's just a common misperception and I felt like clearing it up.
I use Safari in Mac OS X, as a rule, but I haven't used anything but Firebird for Linux or Windows since I first downloaded it. It's an impressive program, and I love the fact that there's no installer to deal with. Everything's in one folder. It works well for the "Power User" type, but I've been passing the word among even my less tech-savvy friends.
Now it can be my browser of choice on all of the machines I use.
Go look at any iMac, tray-loading or slot-loading, since that's what you're referring to (this problem was with the G3 iMac, not the G4). There is an eject pin on the far right side of the slot-load, and slightly down and to the right of the open button on the tray-loader. Both should be opened with a paper clip.
Neither of them worked with the RIAA CDs. The computer had to be disassembled by a Mac Technician (which I was when this was an issue), and the CD had to be removed physically. Even then, the drives didn't always work when you put them back together.
Not trying to be a dick, just letting you know the truth.:)
Because race does matter. Racism sucks, and we should combat it, but not paying attention to the race of others isn't the way to do so. Halle Berry's race has certainly had a huge impact on her as a person, and on her career as a whole, so I'd say it's relevant.
He actually reads it. I've worked in Apple support, and I've seen him respond to a customer's e-mail a few times. He's the big gun, and he'll notice if his mailbox gets slashdotted with praising e-mails on this subject.
But it worked all right on the Dell running Win 98 SE? Just plug and play?
Honestly, 80% of problems with Macs running classic OSes are due to skankware being flung all over the system. Put some memory in that machine, and install OS X. Trust me... it's a world of difference, especially with modern devices like Digital Cameras...

This film looks fucking amazing, which shouldn't be surprising.
Also - First post for Kate! Happy Anniversary!

Nicely done, but completely incorrect.

I love you Katie! I will not fail it!
