You really think that we didn't know 9/11 would happen?
Isn't it convienient for Bush that all of his power has come from that one event? Why wouldn't he have wanted that to happen.
Speaking of which, why weren't any aircraft parts found at the Pentagon? I thought a plane hit it. Nobody saw the plane, and nobody was in that section of the building, but REALLY, a plane DID hit it. Not a missile...
What exactly was your point? You don't update your software and you're complaining?
BTW installing an old version of debian and typing apt-get dist-upgrade isn't a pain, and it only takes about a half hour on my halfway decent connection.
Your "joke" made absolutely no sense. Please STFU unless you have something intelligent to say.
mplayer has much better filtering that a TV. watch the same thing on a 32" TV, then watch it on a 32" monitor with mplayer... mplayer is MUCH better...
But that's too bad for that 50%. Why don't they start an ISP then? They're too lazy? I'm not sympathetic. If you want to go against the government, it's not supposed to be EASY!
This is right. My passwords at school have to be exactly 8 characters. I calculated that this is about 52 bits of entropy (actually less since there are many many passwords that will be rejected). That's easy enough to calculate every hash overnight by using the 4 24-hour computer labs and some DVDs. BUT, if you're using a 12-bit hash, you ruin the possibilities of this attack. Interesting, eh...
Apparently, when you're depositing a check with your name on it into your account, you don't need a sig, I guess. They just stamp my paycheck ("Fifth Third Bank. For deposit only.") when I go in person to deposit it.
Well when I call my gf it isn't encrypted, but when I call my fellow terrorists (jk jk) I make sure that we're both using strong crypto. Not everything needs to be private.
Oh god, just shut the fuck up. Why is it that any time something says something good about ads they're astroturfing? And obviously links to reviews are paid for.... I don't understand the/. viewpoint here...
Some people think ads are useful. That's the fucking point of ads, to sell the product. If they're useful, they'll sell the product! So if someone thinks ads are useful, then that's good! Looking at ads is much less expensive than paying someone money...
I personally don't dislike the ads on google. They're relevant, and sometimes funny. They're giving me 1000M of storage free, the least I could do is appreciate that all I have to do to get that is look (or not look) at some text.
Going off topic, I don't mind product reviews being posted to slashdot. If it's interesting, different, or cool, I want to know about it!! I might actually want to *gasp* buy it! And if not, it's always fun to read.
So, to those of you that think everything that views commerce in a positive light is astroturfing, you're WRONG. Those of us with jobs actually might buy something someday! (And trust me, I was an unemployed high school student for quite a while, and thought the same thing. How can anyone afford anything!? Trust me, some day you'll grow up and realize that iPods and whatnot aren't THAT expensive.)
Wow, sorry. That was way offtopic. But I think it needed to be said:)
It's 25 today, it's $25 tomorrow. Fortunately, you can just use VoIP and strong crypto and avoid problems.
The world is changing. The government can't control your electronic communications. They still have the power to tell you "do not walk on grass", but YOU have the power to do whatever you want online.
Use Freenet. Use GPG. Use OpenBSD. YOU are in control, not them. Don't pay their taxes. If they want you to use something easily traceable, they should pay YOU!
Wrong. This is a mesoscale discussion. A mesocyclone is the rotating part of the cloud base. And IIRC, they usually issue tornado warnings whenever something is rotating, just to be safe... (even if there isn't a tornado there's going to be hail and high winds...)
I think there's a reason for this. If M$ put a good firewall and good virus scanner in XP, they would be using their monopoly position to put third-party anti-virus and firewall software companies out of business. They wouldn't be doing this intentionally, but it doesn't matter. That whole incident with IE fucked them over.
If M$ could go back a few years, they would see that not putting IE in the OS would have avoided all the anti-trust problems AND made windows more secure. LOL at M$.
I would be careful with AES, myself. It was designed by the NSA... do you really think they would pioneer an initiative to keep themselves out of your information? No? Same here.
Remember that DES has some mysterious values in the so-called "S-Boxes". For years, no one knew why those values were chosen. As it turns out, those values made the cypher resistant to differential cryptanalysis, which was unknown to the public at the time. But maybe there's something in those values that let the NSA "easily" break it??
AES could be the same way. I personally like RC-4...
It didn't make sense. You just like to whine on slashdot. Hopefully someone will modbomb you and you'll go away.

Solution? Ignore the flags. Install mplayer.
Oh but that's ILLEGAL. Please tell me why it's illegal to play a DVD i bought on a computer i bought. Thanks.
Distant as in Chicago<->Texas. It's night at the same time in those places.
I think that was over everyone's head.

Most people in a google search for "the Pill" seem to think you should capitalize it. Just because you're doing it wrong doesn't mean it's wrong :-)

I have some "commune" wireless ISP.
But that's too bad for that 50%. Why don't they start an ISP then? They're too lazy? I'm not sympathetic. If you want to go against the government, it's not supposed to be EASY!
12-bit salt, I mean.

Yeah but it was GREAT right? I was impressed.
:)
I didn't learn anything, but the presentation was very very well done.

You don't go to school or work?
:)
And if you can't get email elsewhere you can't afford $20 a year to get it from somewhere.
I think you WANT an invite, but you don't NEED one.

I think it was the word "gasbag" that made it sound like a flame.

You will always have encryption if you learn the contents of this page. Nobody can ever take it away. Think about that power.
Thank you Pringles can + 802.11g + VoIP + IPSec.
Wiretap? Have fun.
Tax? Try me.
I use LaTeX and print my slides on transparencies. Sure there are no fun effects, but it looks nice and gets the information across.
I think Apple's transitions in Keynote are much better than the PowerPoint ones. I've never seen a bad keynote presentation, come to think of it.
C'mon, who doesn't like the cube effect...
Er, wine? :)
Cedega runs Steam (and many many many other games). With better fps's than Windows. So I don't think this argument holds water!
