C++ Builder still poos all over VC++. The VCL is still and always has been better than the MFC. In terms of speed of development it is up there with VB without the stigma of being labelled a VB programmer.
Borland have been pumping out great IDEs since Delphi 2.0 and nothing has changed. Once again I find myself wondering why the world is content to use Microsoft products.

Now that you've got off your high pony, the problem is not necessarily the tools. As the site points out, buffer overflows can be avoided in C/C++. The whole point of the site is to try and improve coding practices.
And don't think that just because Microsoft is switching to managed types that they are all of a sudden going to fix bad coding practices. Sure it may reduce the effect of bad coding but it won't single handedly catapult Microsoft into security heaven.
Seriously, if all your programmers are hardcore VB guys why not just use VB.Net. It seems like they are not using C# in an OO way anyway.
As for fast GUI, if you are only developing for windows why not just use the WinAPI directly without going through a VM. If you want a cross platform solution try wxWindows or Kylix. And speaking of Kylix, Borland are THE leaders in RAD tools and have been for years.
I'm still trying to figure out what the whole point of C# is. It's similar to Java, but it is not cross platform, but it's not as quick as a truly native app written in VB or C++.
Australia a bit on the socialist side? You're kidding aren't you. Federally, John Howard is running an ultra-conservative government (his hero is G.W Bush) while the states are run by traditionally socialist governments who are mostly looking a lot more centre-left than anything else.
The beer here IS better than American beer. Australian beer sold in America is only labelled Australian. It is made to taste much like your beer so that you'll drink it.
But generally we're a friendly bunch as long as we are beating the Poms and Kiwis at sport. So at the moment we are a bit edgy as the Kiwis have taken one crown from us and by the end of the year will have another.
I love it when Sen. Alston tries to come off as knowledgable about 'net stuff'. He has so obviously just asked his speechwriters what the latest buzzwords are and how they can be strung together to form a cohesive sentence.
As this is/. I'm going to assume that you are a fan of the GPL. I don't blame you. For people who want to allow others to freely benenfit from your work, and who want to benefit from others freely adding to your work, it is great. Such people have the right to release their code under the GPL and it is something we here on/. hold close to our hearts.
So why, when someone has spent time and money on a certain project do they have to give it away for free? It is their project (be it software or music), they should be able to have a certain amount of control over it. What gives you any rights to it? You certainly have no right to force me to offer you the results of my hard work for free.
Copyright laws only seem facist to you cause you are so far left of communism that you'd make Lenin look center right.
Obviously your problem is that you live in a country where people are more worried about obtaining music they have no right to for free than to exercise their right to freely vote.
The guys at Trillian have been managing just fine over the years, working out how the various IM communicate and successfully implementing the protocols. This is just some MS FUD to get people to stop using the likes of Trillian. But never fear, I bet by OCt 15 I'll be logging into MSN via my updated version of Trillian.
Sony looks alright but Microsft needs to sue whoever did that boob job. And what's with Microsoft going the grope? I'm not even going to mention what's up with Microsoft's swimsuit.
We discovered we got hit when our Sonicwall connections hit the limit every 10 minutes. It took us two tries to clean it all up.
And who was it who brought it into the office? The CEO. He thought he had a virus but connected to the network anyway. Mod that funny if you will but try being part of our network support team.
Where I live here in NSW, two months before each state election the same stretch of road (The Esplanade, Warners Bay) get's resurfaced. It's on a fairly major route but doesn't effect traffic too much when the road works are going on. Something smells fishy but I can't quite firgure it out.
The only thing funny is that the USians don't know what we mean. While you guys have pulling out soggy wads of green from your washing machines here in Australia we've been successfully laundering our plastic notes since the 80's.

Go back in your cave troll.

I just won buzzword bingo!
It does claim to be ad-free. Is this synonomous with no spyware? Who knows?
Skype sounds so much like hype.

So I guess only one person needs to by the next version of Windows and the rest of us will just download it from him?

'How many people would go hunter if the deer could shoot back.'
Looks like the deer have the ammunition and hunter in their sights. Just waiting for the trigger to be pulled.

I had a similar translation problem at recent project meeting. I was suppose to tell my boss:
....
'We've gone a bit over budget and time but I think we can wrap it up in the next month'
but it came out
'You under budgeted, under quoted, miscalculated available resources and the quality of those resources and I'm not going to take the fall.'
Our an even greater question ...
'If a tree falls in the forest and kills the pothead greeny chained to it, does anyone care?'
... but they've had these on Gilligan's Island for years!

Yeah, all I have to worry about is my house getting looted when the sun goes down. Well, not really. The 2nd Amendment was made for times like this.
Don't worry, the airports are closed so the British can't come and invade your home.
Problem finally solved. I was not to mention this matter to anyone else.
That's okay, you haven't mentioned it to just anyone, you've mentioned it to everyone!

Hey, it's not my RTA, I'm a Victorian living too far from home.
But yes, you rattle down the Hume until the Murray River and then it is bliss. I think the sky is even bluer in VIC.

Why aren't they using a RTOS?
Cause they don't need one. The shutters are triggered every metre (or 20 metres) and it works just fine.
Forgive me for asking such a silly question but did you actually read the article?
homour ... I mean humor ... oh dammit ... funniness.
Modded funny?
