Got two development kits Wed. I setup samba shares off a usb drive with no problem. However it looks like cups might be overkill for this little server. Has anyone got a working solution for a print server ?
Texas the new 21st century model for a "classic" southern redneck.
Yep, this action makes me actually embarrassed to be a Texan, [its been happening more frequently over the past 8 yrs or so 8-( ]
I am not opposed to teaching ID in schools, just not in a science class. Plan a lesson discussion about ID in a philosophy class, or world history or any place but a science class.
while you can't use a fretlight guitar with Guitar Hero, it is an excellent teaching tool when you are just starting out. LEDs for each string/fret position that light up as you play a specially formatted midi tune for the guitar. You can get a fretlight strat knockoff for about 300 bux off ebay.
I have the basic analog cable pkg (Time Warner I think). We just purchased our first HDTV in Nov 08. I was pleasantly surprised to find the local network feeds, (CBS,NBC,FOX,ABC) were HDTV signals even over the coax cable. The other "cable" channels are still low def feeds.
Interesting point, I had to think about it for a while. Perhaps the fact the z10 is essentially the service whereas renting the settop box in not the service, but renting it is required to use their service.
Ummmm.... didn't they solve this issue long ago. While recharging your vehicle at home is fine. If the industry would agree on a standard for the size of the batteries then it should be only a matter of minutes to change/swap batteries at a "recharging station". Most consumer electronics use AA, AAA, C or D cells why not the same solution for electric vehicles ?
I would think the industry could meter the bandwidth each artist is generating. Those with big bandwidth requirements would get a larger piece of the pie than those with small bandwidth requirements. However that doesn't truly answer your question, you would still have lots of less gifted artists pulling down the big bucks because American society's musical taste as a whole "suck". It is vain, shallow and bereft of any meaning deeper than "hey dig me"
Until they start bumping each other at >Mach2 it can't be the the rocket equivalent of NASCAR. BTW Are these vehicles real rockets or are they jets. If they are rockets (a rocket carries it own O2, a jet gathers it oxygen from the atmosphere) then they will have to be relatively short lived races, won't they ?
I have setup VLC to stream music to multiple computers in the house. It has been a while but I used the http transport method, however I believe they had multicast options too. I do remember it taking a little effort to put together a playlist. It was functional, but not user friendly.
A better plane/airport design is needed, if the passenger cabin area was modular and removable, then all passengers could be "preboarded" and "postdisembarked". This way passenger loading schedules would be totally independent of planes arrival and departure. Before the plane arrives at the gate the departing passengers and their carry-on luggage would be seated and luggage stored in the cabin module. Once the plane lands the arriving passenger cabin module would be removed and taken to a gate to disembark, and the departing passenger cabin could be loaded onto the plane. The departing cabin modules would be loaded through the nose of the plane, pushing the arriving modules out the back as the arriving modules are loaded. Consider it a "plug and play" method of passenger loadeing. It should take no more time to change passenger loads than removing the freight in the cargo section of the plane.
I think Bill sees the handwriting on the wall too. During CNBC's Maria Bartiromo's interview with Gates, Bono, and Dell in Davos Switzerland he referred to M$oft's new OS simply as "Windows" several times avoiding any reference to Vista at all. With Vista's terrible reviews I expect they will rename Vista sometime in the near future.
I believe the statement was premised with generating your own power from you home ie solar or wind, so DC transmission across power lines is not part of the equation.
Actually when you think of about the devices in your home many of them are actually DC devices with power supplies to convert AC to DC. Computers TVs, Radios etc etc. Probably the best use for AC in a home would be to generate heat ie ovens and hot water heaters.
Along the same line as coverting 60 HZ AC to a different line voltage, plugging a DC device into the wall and having it signal what are its power requirements would be a nifty engineering task.
I'm sorry I didn't make myself clear I was referring to creating your own juice with the use of solar panels wind generators and other "green" devices.
AC is great if you need to push the juice across vast expanses of lines. However once it is at the point of use it is not nearly as useful.
If one is generating their own power then the ability to store it in batteries and use it upon demand would be ideal.
I wonder if you would see the same 15% power saving if a home was outfitted for DC use ? When you think about it most electronic devices in the home have power supplies embedded which are nothing more than AC-DC coverters, which in and of themselves waste energy.
A DC power home would lend itself more readily to home based power generation. I believe most solar panels and windmill generate DC power which then has to be converted back to AC before it can be put on a powerline or used with conventional home appliances. With the new high efficiecy LED DC lights available the AC light bulb (a hundred year old device) is a real power hog and also generates enomrmous amounts of heat.
100 yrs ago when they were first bring electrical power to the masses perhaps AC was the right answer, but I believe our needs and priorities have changed in the past 100 yrs and perhaps the way we generate, distribute and use electricity is due for a new analysis.
While I agree with the premise that linking health insurance to employment is flawed, the premise that everyone can go out an purchase good health insurance in todays market is sheer lunacy. Obviously your familiy is blessed with relatively good health. Many families are not as blessed.
Insurance companies either simply refuse to write policies for those with serious health conditions or will increase the price of their existing policy till it is out of the financial means of that family. So a family with a member who has diabetes, cancer, luekemia, or other serious health malady is left without.
Healthcare in this country is treated as a for profit business. We have allowed this country healthcare system to place profits ahead of humanity and morality. Granted many of the social programs of other countries have their faults when trying to tend to the needs of their population at large, but at least everyone has an equal opportunity. This is not true in our country. The limited social "healthcare" in this country is more like "sickcare". Poor people wait until they are really sick before seeking treatment.
I will step off the soapbox before I start writing the epic novel on what is wrong with our healthcare system.
From my point of view this means a DVD disc will last longer than a DVD player. I have replaced 3 DVD players for my TV over the past 2 years 8-).One would think that a player would last at least 5 yrs !
Wake up and go back to sleep, spying restricts your privacy.
The parallels to the 1950s witch hunt for communists (or the 1692 Salem Witch trials) are too close. Substitute "Dubya" for "Joe McCarthy" and "terrorists" for "communists". This administration has already clearly demonstrated how abusive it can be with intelligence.
We have witness the death of over two thousand American soldiers and we are responsible for tens of thousands of innocent Iraqi non-combatants killed because of the mismanagement of intelligence.
Do you really want to give Dubya a chance to fuck up again !!
In a word hellyes ! My wife and I have been debating whether to move north or head south of the border. Phil Hughes founder of the Linux Journal said "enough" a few years ago and move to Central America. You can check out his blog(s) here:
For 130.00 US get one of the new plug computers with the ESATA interface.
http://www.globalscaletechnologies.com/p-32-guruplug-server-plus.aspx
I purchased a 2TB external drive with USB and ESATA port from buy.com for 130.00 last week.
Use Samba and NFS to export your volumes on your local network to your various computers.
I have an older plug computer connected to the external drive via USB 2.0 and it streams movies and music to a variety of devices in my home.
They need something to replace the credit default swap sham business.
enough said.

Don't know if she can see it from her house. However her press agent has declared the Obama Administration is responsible.

Pardon me, but I think the grammatically correct term is "You all" or "Y'all" ! 8-)

They have the same policy. The fact I could not purchase a box was the reason I chose not to sign.
