When I subscribed to Time Warner Cable, several times I stated I wanted Digital+Variety tier.
They hooked me up, they charged me for Digital tier (no Variety), and they installed Digital tier (no Variety).
Didn't take me all that long to call customer service to bitch. I wasn't (at least intentionally) rude, just like "just thought I'd mention, I asked for Digital+Variety, you only gave me Digital (and only charged me for Digital)" - took it to be an honest mistake, and in a few minutes it was corrected. First day was a bit jumpy but I've been running fine ever since. Politeness and the benefit of the doubt go a long way.
Kids don't need technology, they need an education. I think they can be given an excellent education without ever involving a computer.
And I agree, when I was in a computer class I spent more time actively hacking (in both senses of the word) their system, than doing work. Bootlegged their PC DOS 6.3 installation. Used Word 6 for Windows instead of Works 3 for DOS. (Or used WordPerfect 5.1 for DOS.) Et cetera. I obviously want to make the most of my time, but it was stuff I already knew. That's not the case for most kids, they need to be paying attention to the teacher, not their PCs, and you know kids have reverse midas touches and wreck everything...
If they were suspended for that long where I went... 20 days and you have to repeat all classes.
BTW, I was caught bypassing the filter at high school and they simply banned me from using any Internet-connected PCs there rest of the year (senior year).
Heh. Freedom. In Poland, it's illegal to criticize the Kaczyski brothers at all, and you say the whole of Europe is more free than somewhere where it's fully legal to rant about the president's, ahem, bad judgment calls?
I don't think it is. A pidgin is a language formed by the coming-together of people who speak different languages - they eventually evolve a common language based on all of them, and it's called a pidgin. (And then when it becomes a natively-spoken language it's called a creole.)
There seems to be some pidginization of English/Japanese in my IRC channel, lol.
Kind-of ironic, when you think about it, that one of their last songs was the only song that really got that much airplay, and they were hugely popular...
This is Verizon Wireless, they run their show a bit differently than the rest of Verizon.
Verizon DSL's never complained and I've downloaded...what? Last month it was easily 20 GB? (15 of that in DVDISOs)
Verizon Wireless, otoh, is the company that said.02 cents was the same as $0.02... they're owned by Verizon, but they're not really run by Verizon, rest of Verizon ain't that evil.
I'm not shilling, just my own experiences, Verizon's been my ISP since 2003.
"MY child can do no wrong, matter of fact he's so smart he can raise himself, that's why I took a 3-11 job and a weekend 9-9 part-time job because he don't need me around and I'd rather do something more constructive than raising kids"
As if, if you think it's too big, recompress it! Given that libavcodec supports ALAC, I think ffmpeg can actually direct-recompress an ALAC M4A to an MP3, am I right on this?
A typical fundie is going to cough up Hebrews 11:1 at you, so before they do, I will: Now faith is the ground of things which are hoped for, and the evidence of things which are not seen.
It is thusly in their beliefs to say "X is true because we believe it to be true", which is circular reasoning and faulty logic.
(Although I am, like badenglishihave, a relatively strict Christian, I am not blinded to reality by my beliefs as many such people are.)
I thought that was Fred Phelps.

You've never been around my IRC channel. :P
A lot of us there use ^^ or variants on it, and a lot of us are American (not all of us though!)

Well, I'd like to think my $80 3072:768 static-IP business-class DSL can stand up fairly well against a 1544:1544 T1 connection...

A landline is my only phone line, and I get it discounted (Lifeline). If I hardly leave the house wtf need do I have for a cell phone?

That whoosh you heard was the sound of a literary allusion whizzing past your head.

I always enjoyed best the square-dance module of phys-ed class.
Everyone else hated it, guess it's because I didn't come from their neck of the woods.

Being GS/OS, MacOS 7/8, Win 2/3/9x/2K/XP and RH8/Ubuntu 5.10 Linux/NetBSD/Solaris 10 multilingual, so to speak... >:P
I don't myself know OA-Shift-1/2 but "Clarus" is a half-dog half-cow that goes "moof"...part of an Apple injoke...

GS/OS pwn3d, btw.

Yeah, I got much better service with Verizon DSL since I switched to a business account.

I have a business account with Verizon DSL, never been more satisfied.
Downloaded 3 DVDISOs last month, uploaded several AVIs to bittorrent, no complaints.
