    Its clear that you don't highly regard swing, but have you looked at SWT? It might change your opinion of Java. It enables a truly native GUIs for Java programs. Take a look at the Eclipse IDE for an example.

    Why in GODS NAME does Java NOT USE Native Widgets? I mean, I can spot a Java application light years away.

    You can run native widgets quite well using SWT. There's nothing stopping you from doing that.

    The only reason I can see is for the sake of evolution itself. Maybe they also affected the evolution of humans too, and we would be different without them; I don't know. Without evolution, they wouldn't exist, and neither would we.

    I fully agree with David Attenborough on evolution, but his argument that the existence of such a worm wouldn't coincide with a merciful creator doesn't put suffering in any reasonable sort of context. Being merciful isn't about preventing the possible occurrence of every sort of suffering. It's more about limiting it to when its absolutely necessary to accomplish something. If the worm eats eyeballs, it probably can't eat anything else.

    Seems to me that if he was not a Christian, there would be fewer wars, and fewer countries would be angry at us.

    There would also be open dialog with Muslim countries, because a true Christian theologian would recognize that Islam and Christianity follow the same God

    I don't understand where you're coming from here... Christian believe that Jesus is God, and Muslims don't. Also, Christians believe in God as the "Holy Spirit", while Muslims don't. Those differences concern the very identity of God.

    I don't that that a political solution exists for this. Creationism, as its practiced today, is a result of challenges that modern science presented to historic Christian thinking. Right now, they're handling the apparant contradictions by attacking evolution, but its their thinking that's wrong. They need to stop that and start understanding Genesis and the rest of the Bible better. Until they do this, the situation won't change.

    Ok, I have to say that list (and the list here: http://www.icr.org/creationscientists/biologicalsc ientists.html ) demolishes the idea that people never graduate from a biology doctorate program as a creationist. That shows how effective creationists are in using faith to recruit scientists to compromise their integrity.

    If carbon dating us unreliable past a few thousand years, as you say, what's a more reliable dating method past that timeframe? Don't you need to rely on other dating methods to determine that?

    Her IQ score is actually far higher than the minimum required to get into Mensa.

    The fact is, people from all sorts of careers have joined Mensa. In that sense, its an anti-elitest organization.

    Isn't it against federal law to tax interstate commerce? Plus if you bought them via the internet the fed's have specifically made it a "no tax zone".

    Michigan imposes a "use tax" on items bought from other states, at the same rate as the sales tax. I suppose that means the state taxes the "use" of the item, rather than the commercial transaction.

    I'm fairly ok at reading and speaking French, and I enjoy watching French movies at times. I don't enjoy English subtitles in French language movies because I often end up paying attention only to those subtitles. Sometimes I just have to cover them up. I wish I could find French language movies with subtitles in French. Unfortunately, in the few that I've seen, the words used in the subtitles were different from what was spoken.

    I can't imagine how GNOME which was FOUNDED strictly because of the POSSIBILITY of some licensing problems with Qt(KDE), would go head-long into this licensing minefield created by Miguel.

    The licensing issue with Qt simply concerned whether or not it was free software. However you feel about Microsoft, Mono is based on their standards, so they can only love it.

    Call me when we get an OSS equivalent of Sims 2, then we'll talk. We're not all FPS fanboys.

    If we follow the direction Maxis takes regarding the Sims, designing games that require millions of dollars to make, then we'd get nowhere. However, if we follow the direction that these guys are taking with "Façade", then Linux would be the perfect platform for games.

    The solution is to make Linux games ourselves, and to sell them. We don't need to wait for large game companies to start supporting Linux. We can also MOD existing games with Linux version. With games engines like Torque available, and with moddable games aroung like Quake3 and UT2004, there is really no excuse for not making good Linux games.

    They're still live human cells, and its still called an "embroyo" which "is an animal or a plant in its earliest stage of development." Why can't we call an human embroyo a "human in its earliest stage of development?"
    Here's another way of looking at it; weren't we all blastocysts at one point?

    Do you think your sperm are little people ?
    Sperm contain only half of a human's DNA, so that removes any basis for calling them "little people"

    They are against it because fertilized eggs are destroyed in the process
    Fertilized eggs are not destroyed in the IVF process. They can be destroyed if the couple agrees to that, and some may die on their own, but its not a required part of the procedure.
    Also, some are against it because of those that die or are destroyed, but that opposition doesn't seem to be universal in pro-life groups.
