I would wager that most of the big software vendors enjoying immense market share wouldn't be doing so were it not for "piracy", "warez" and file sharing, getting their stuff into the hands of those talented enough to use it, but poor enough to be unable to afford it.
Likewise there are musicians and artists who would have vanished from the scene, if it hadn't been for downloadable files to alert and encourage us to seek out and support their efforts.
I know for a fact that I would not be buying the work of Frank Cho, or Philippe Buchet had I not first found them as scans in the a.b hierarchy.
I didn't hear Goldfrapp on the local FM or catch the original airing of Zim on Nick. But I have bought all of the Goldfrapp catalog (and sold some of it too), as well as buying all 3 DVD's of Zim, and the only reason I did was...."piracy" alerted me to their existence.
This whole copyright/intellectual property thing strikes me the same way as the "War on Drugs" has.
The little people get to watch the spectacle of a bunch of suits bandying about a bunch of numbers pulled from their collective anuses, patting themselves on their backs after criminalizing something that only threatened their control.

We're so sorry, but it was never the "WWW Community" that chose Internet Exploder in the first place.
It was Joe Sixpack, Ma Kent and Arthur Schmidlap, all of whom had it bundled into the nice, shiny, new computer that was sold to them as an information appliance/labor saving device by the pimply shlep at (take your pick):
a. CompUSA
b. Fry's
c. Best Buy
which enabled IE to gain market share and win hearts worldwide.
That answer will cost you five points and the lead in today's game.

it *so* much easier for our governmental/uber-moral overlords to screen for (pick one):
a) subversive
b) objectionable
c) incriminating
d) all of the above
content/pictures/images.
And they can charge for that (absent a subpoena) too. Woo-hoo!
Would Dell (or any other PC OEM) "buy back" your three year old laptop for roughly one third it's original sticker price three years later?
Apple did, offering a $700 credit on a new Powerbook by trading in my first generation TiBook.
And I can guarantee you that they were run through a comprehensive QC check, rushed out the door to eager resellers and back into the hands of those looking for the ultimate in geek chic at an moderate price.
Take a close look at the layout, notice what looks like ducting along the bottom near the grill?
I'm will to bet that there's an air flow "path", carefully calibrated by Apple engineers, to siphon off any heat build up.
They did something equally innovative with the passive ducting in the previous iMac and the active heat transfer zones of the G5 cheese graters.
I'm not so concerned about heat build up, as I am about the over life span of the flat panel itself. Being on my second Powerbook, and using it daily as my primary computer I know that LCD degrades. Whereas the Viewsonic 17" monitor I bought in 1997 *still* provides a great picture.
Installing 'doze unconnected to network - $189
Installing software Firewall - $69
Connecting to Linksys/D-Link/Netgear - $45

Anyone surfing without an application sensitive firewall should catch a clue.
The first time Mozilla tried to mount a sample exploit.dmg Little Snitch popped up wanting to know if this should be allowed.
Granted, your run of the mill user would likely click through allowing the mount, but they would probably do the same with Paranoid Android, and LS covers all applications trying to establish external connections, a real plus in todays wired world.

We have a very large contingent of the blue haired that meet weekly at the college I attend to study everything from basic office productivity packages to advanced digital scanning and photography.
Going this route has several benefits:
* Money is involved, creating a sense of "buy in".
* What is being studied is used regularly, so that even if she goes home and gets hooked into NeverWinter Nights or Yahoo games, she'll use what she learns at least once a week.
* She'll be with a group of like minded people, so there's a chance that one or more of them will serve as fuel to further explore ways to use what she's learning.
Qualifies as prior art IMO, and should Virginia decide that the estate of REH needs another income stream she could follow SCO's path of revenue enhancement.
Do I want you to live forever?
Some people consider file sharing progressive taxation, if not outright advertising.

Now appears to be a "manual" option.
Type author:NameSought in the search field and it returns authors in all groups matching your query.
Better yet, kill two birds with one stone and mention that CD writers are now under $30. That way they can listen/play and *backup* too.
Kerio 2.1.5, still the best for 'doze IMO. Get it here, and pick up the manual here.
You know the rest of it.
Logic, statistics and proof to the contrary, look for the 0wn3d c0uRt to decide in favor of the monied interests.

So what if IE crashes on its own? Will it please please please allow me to uninstall it?

Extremely, but the road warriors in the group may appreciate this page from the same site. Now that's *art*.
