Blah blah blah. Well, thanks to Debian's strict free software policy, you can quite easily fork it yourself and build your own distro. Oh, you want SOMEONE ELSE to do all the hard work, only your way. There are several distros which fit the bill, Xandros, Lindows, Lycoris, Knoppix, all are x86 Debian forks with just the features you want.
So remember - if your server can reboot itself (and does so automatically and safely) before they can finish dialing tech support, you have no worries!
Why reboot the whole server when you can restart the service? Only morons resort to rebooting in the first instance, and only an ass dragging incompetent would go to so much trouble to work around implementing a real solution.
And it goes on to mention issues with Solaris. Nothing about Java itself being inherently problematic, just issues with certain implementation.
You're on the money, Sun JVM is a total pain. The items noted in the memo are true, RAM hog, incompatible between minor versions and slow. Unstable too, nothing worse than managers getting $ucked in on some wizzo Java app (cognos, esri) and having to deal with what a horse's ass it is. It doesn't help that sun management console, Veritas guis and other shit is all running on it too. Kill me.:P
It's quite refreshing to see windows apologists feeling the need for "me too" posts. It wasn't long ago that Linux admins had to "me too" to be considered for projects. More and more free systems are the default, about time.
It is easy to forget about prominant business men when focusing on figures like Eichmann or Hoss, but the industrialists who were eager to create factories at Auschwitz were perpetrators of the horror too

Another advantage (and what I like a lot) is the ability to keep track of the CVS tree and "make world" any time you want and have a completely upgraded core system. The ports system is also in my mind infinitely preferable to binary package hell.
I prefer not having my servers tied up compiling their updates. Wasting cycles, IO, RAM, bandwidth and storage is not really acceptable on server systems.

But grafting wings to a tank does not make it a fighter jet. I never understood why the open source crowd decided to hop on the Unix horse. Proprietary Unix is no better than proprietary Windows, or proprietary Mac OS. So why do we persist in insisting that Unix should be the basis for a desktop OS?
In case you haven't noticed Mac OS X is as Unix as it gets. Apple were smart enough not to reinvent the wheel, they put hubcaps on.

...do it yourself. Apple's probably getting sweaty palms that the major audio apps are dragging their feet porting to OSX.
It's been over a year now and NONE of the big players have ported, preferring to point the finger at Apple. There's a major hole in OSX software and it's music/audio composition, good on you Apple for filling it.
Cubase has been slowly but surely becoming more windows focused, like the wait for vst32 and now SX.
It doesn't matter that the games will be windows native. It's still non-free with a linux native binary, and it doesn't provide any real value either way.
I say good on Transgaming for taking the initiative, a common binary (neccessary evil) format could also provide value for mac users.
My shitty old Palm M105 has a more powerful CPU and more RAM than the Amiga I was using just 10 years ago, and it is basically 5 year old technology.
Shit drivers for TV tuner card getting you down? Just use a better driver, dumbass.
Solaris kernel is an awesome piece of software. I build Sun systems with a full GNU toolset, would be nice to have a full free systems this good.
And lot of other things i can't remember...

Read the alternative script, it's not too far away.

Just run DosEmu on a Linux server and ssh to it. Couldn't be easier.

Perhaps they could patch opera to redirect any microsoft links to goatse.
