Don't people remember that it was the apps that drove people to Windows? If the app is available on all platforms, at some point people will figure out that it's stupid to pay $200 for their operating system, when the apps they know,love, and most importantly, need are available on something that's free and better.
The last place I worked wanted to reimburse employees for broadband. I refused, and paid for it myself. Why, you ask?
1. I don't want my employer's policies applying to my home. Think pr0n and/or p2p.
2. If I'm working on a non-work related project at my house, I want EVERYTHING associated with it to be done on my dime. Don't want them to have any hooks into things done on my time.
Somebody please tell me who at the telco you need to talk to for ISDL? When I talk to them (SBC) they are prtty much clueless as to what it even is. I keep getting routed to the DSL dept, who keep telling me I'm too far from the CO (35000 ft, like I didn't know:-( ). I know I can get ISDN but it's $100 per month not including ISP. And most ISDN ISPs are $60+ for true "unlimited" access.
This is definitely a bad idea because the idea of a gas tax is to curb excessive gas consumption.
The purpose of a gas tax is to increase state revenue. Following your logic, the purpose of an income tax is to reduce overall consumption.Hardly. I agree that it is ridiculous to tax miles taveled.
