I'm a 'Business Analyst' according to HR. What does that mean?
I talk to people who do the same job everyday, and find ways to streamline the process for them. This is normally by writing programs. ie: Generate a report that means they don't need to log onto three different systems manually. Make a job press button instead of three screens of acknowledgements. Stuff like that.
People generally generally like it when I come and sit next to their desk. Things are about to get easier for them.
I liked and understood his review. He clearly stated his benchmarking process, and included tests of things real people do. He made mention of things that normal people find annoying. The bit about 'my father has a large ear canal' made me laugh.
My mates and I spent a long summer watching Blakes 7, a couple of episodes one night a week for many many weeks. We loved it, but mostly in the way of any grouyp of friends watching a show like it: MST3k style.
From the early season 'esky of doom' - an 'icechest' as you american call it, that was used to carry gold, explosives, computer parts, and also to beat people up. Vila clocked a guy in the head with it a few times.
The three different locations used as 'planets': - the forest - the quarry - the refinery
The episode where they run down the same corridor 4 times, each time witha different light filter. This signified the many levels down they were.
The ending - everyone dies.
Despite its cheesiness, it was great. And sometimes, genuinely scary, if not for the screen, but the ideas presented.
He's currently investigating them for 'anti-american' bias. I wasn't aware that was currently illegal yet. I thought we had to wait for the swearing in as the 50 somethingth state, right after vietn... Iraq.
On the one hand, I'm jumping up and down going "An author spoke on slashdot! And not in a planned interview!" Its the same sort of feeling I get when I read a Carmack or Wil Wheaton post here.
On the other hand, I'm hearing "Aooga; Aooga; Blatant Self Promotion Alert. Aooga; Aooga"
Hmm. I'm sure I'd be more appreciative if I'd been able to afford the book when it was reccomended as a course text. I ended up reading online examples and keeping the documentation open in another window.
Anchors do influence how people think of the news presented. When she frowns as she talks about people 'stealing' songs, smiles when she reports their arrest, and flirts with her co-anchor when she mentions a new DRM product, people will get the idea that d/ling is bad, arresting p2p'ers is good, and DRM is sexy.
My point was that despite what record company execs wish, people have an entertainment budget, not a music budget. A major reason cd sales have fallen is that in the same period, game and dvd sales have risen.
My statistics were blatant lies, it was a parody of the original statistics quoted.

I have been asked in lectures "Why are you taking notes" as I furiously scribble down whats on the powerpoint presentation overhead. "It'll be available on the subject homepage" they say. I just seem to take it in better if I'm writing it down, rather than reading it later. Working full-time, Uni part time, I dont put enough time aside to reread the lectureres slides all over again anyway. ^_-
It could just mean that paying attention and focusing on the lecture is better for me than chatting to the people next to me...

If only more video card reviews were like this.

The awesome power of cheese?
The awesome power of a fully operational mothership?
The awesome power of turning up!
Yes, these minute companies with their pitiful earnings and small employee lists.
He wasn't only talking about shipping, he was talking about companies that offer services over the web as well.
Its because the people who make the deals are not the people who implement or use them afterwards. They've normally moved on with a golden handshake.
Now hand over your CC number, shut up, sit down, and consume.
Being in neither the UK or the US, what does that mean?

I want a big red button on the wall that does some sort of manual seperation of our main link cable.
Or possibly one of those big mad scientist 'its alive' lever switches...
Best thing I ever did. Clear vision is taken for granted by to many people.

Mobile is what they're called in australia and large chunks of europe. I think they use 'keitei' in japan, but I'm not sure.
Don't judge them based on your experience in america. Many people judge america as 'behind' when it comes to mobile telephones & their networks.
