Best mouse I every used. 2000 dpi. I was so used to it but other people would touch my computer and not be able to control where the cursor was... tie that in with edge scrolling viewports and a good laugh was to be had.
Incidently it just died recently and rezor has teamed up with Terratec Europe to develop the boomslang 2100 (yes that's 2100 dpi!!!). I'll be placing my order real soon.
I have to say for quite a while now I have been disappointed that games were getting to easy to beat. For example Crash Bandicoot 1 was a pretty hard game to get through. But in comparision all the sequels were really easy. Vice City did away with some of the more tedious challenges to 100% the game. And Enter the Matrix. Come on! I beat that in less time than it took to watch the movie.
In respect to easy to pick up and play all those games fall under that criteria. But the longevity of the games and the overall challenge of winning is certainly lacking.
It's always found this mildly annoying but since I've never had that much to protect and the people around me really arent that smart anyway I haven't gone in search of the fix.
But in X at least on slackware when the screensaver is on I can Ctrl-Alt-F1 and Ctrl-X to kill X windows and get myself to prompt.
I've had the same thoughts post this tragedy. What are my rights really worth.. Should we stop fighting for our rights in exchange for prevention against such attacks? But then I heard what Col. Powell said this morning. He talked of where the US went wring when they switched to all surveilence technology over spys and espionage. He believe that's one of the biggest mistakes the US has made. I agree... alot of our problems get solved when you use spys. You get the ability to infiltrate a organization without compromised privacy for the whole of the people. This is a sad day, There will be much debate in the weeks/months/years to come.
After much look at WinCE devices as terminal systems in our remote offices I was finally able to convince them to give the Netier xl1000 a try. It not only met all the requirements that the CE device could not but it exceeded them in many areas. They are in deployment right now.
Once that upgrade is done the main offices will move to staroffice and linux later in the upgrade cycles.
Admitidly the Linux upgrade is planned pretty far off in the future. But it's still a move in the right direction.
Is anyone suprised by this. M$ is going to help Ximian make there project forward compatible with.NET. But what are the chances that.NET users will be able to use MONO through there M$ software.
You know.. I've been thinking. Every other day we have some stupid Patent, or lawsuit or whatever going on that has the slashdot community up in arms. And everyday we all post our feelings on the issues hear on slashdot for all the other angry slashdotters to read. I propose a new solution. Don't post to slashdot and repeat how we all already feel. Instead send a letter to congressmen (You'll have to handwrite it since they don't use email anymore, way to listen to you constiuents.) and let them know how we feel.
Of course if they get to much snail mail they might stop reading that too.
But we're still supposed to have a say here in america. And maybe if we start making ourselves heard we can have a voice without having to have a revolution.
I'm 22 right now. I shudder to think what the world will be like when I'm 80 if this insanity of restrictions and capitilism continues. Someday I may not be able to walk down the street cause the patent office awarded some idiot the rights to the iudea of push a rubber sole against a block of concrete.

Out of all my experiences I just don't think OpenSource business should even bother going public. The traders out there today aren't looking to invest in good companies.. They're looking to pump and dump stocks that sound good. Quality is no longer the issue with most investors.
So why put Linux in the line of fire with for profit companies. Can I tell you the the response I get from my investor buddies when I say "I use Linux" is "Why? The stock is at 5 (or whatever it's at these days" Investors for the most part are idiots and are looking to make a buck. None of them have any loylties to good companies. That's pretty much what put us in the situation we are in today. These pump and dumpers and day traders had their fun with the market. The feds came in and made all these adjustments after just a few months without looking at what might happen in the long term. Now we're stuck with the market in the same place in was before this started and who's been hurt? The US companies and the US economy.
So Good Job TurboLinux. Keep yourself off the market. Investors will just cock tease you as they try and make a buck off your stock before they let it drop into the toliet.
I for one am taking all the money I would have invested and going to Vegas. My odds are better and I want feel like a cheap whore tomorrow morning (although maybe I'll have one in bed with me;) )
Is it me or is this just an obviously bad idea? What's happens when the plan has to land? You service dies? I can just imagine being in the middle of a D/L. "ERROR 408 Plane has crashed. Page cannot be found" Speaking of which are they going to host web servers on the plane?
The cost for launching and maintaining a Satalite can't be that much that this solution is more reasonable.
But on a birghter note this has to speak well for the economy. I mean the fact that there are venture capitalist out there putting money into such an idea has to say something
You can obviously make quite a living of patenting very broad ideas and appling them to everyone that is making a buck.
By the way I just patented the act of moving a single finger and having a corresponding result appear on a terminal. So please stop typing before I sick my lawyers on you.

Isn't this like a right of passage for all techies?
Has anyone gotten the KT133 chipset working with ANY HD's? I have a Abit KT7-Raid and after compiling 2.4 I get MASSIVE drive corruption. I've tried turning DMA off and it seems to help a little but last night the ystem locked again and now it won't complete a fsck. (same as what used to happen very quickly when DMA modes was on?
FYI I'm, using a maxtor DMA-100 Drive that I'd like to use on the HPT370 Controller once I solve the corruption problems.
Why? Becuase if we subscribe to a micropayment scheme then we are going to have to put our Credit Card to the site to charge our cards. Once we do that who's going to need the FBI's systems. Every site we go to will be charged, linked, and marketed to us via those purchases on the card.
No thanks. I'll stick with Open content.
I wonder what m$ will attempt to do with GPL to enforce some sort EULA on it.
Will M$ be the first to test GPL in the court system? That could be dangerous in itself.
I for one have had to great experiences with DSL installations and service. Both lines were provided by Covad and XO Communications. Constantly fast, 99.99% uptime, 4 static IP's.
I will be very disappointed if I have to give up this speed.
I've registered COM as my business name and order that all sites using com in the address are in violation of my copyright. You can no longer use com in any of your websites.
This includes Comehereyoufuckingbastards.net

I wonder. Has M$ done the same with Word & Excel? How about windows? If I do Ewindows.com will I be in violation?

it seems that their not happy with their luck on 1% odds. JHUAPL is now considering firing up the thrusters and lifting off Eros. Pretty amazing stuff. Congrats to the team who worked on this!
Right, he would not be able to favor MS, just like Bush would be able to favor big oil and Cheney wouldn't be able to favor Haliburton.
Very good observation!

I don't understand what all the hype is about. Final Fantasy the Movie was out years ago. It was called Final Fantasy 7.
It's called Final Fantasy 7
How honestly were you able to answer the above questions given the fact that you signed a very restrictive NDA? And will Bill be angry?
